Rachel Gupta resigns as Miss Grand International 2024

GMA Network4 days ago

Miss Grand International 2024 Rachel Gupta is stepping down from her title.
On Instagram Wednesday, Rachel said that being crowned was one of the most cherished dreams of her life and that she was filled with hope and pride to represent India.
'However, the months following my crowning have been marked by broken promises, mistreatment, and a toxic environment I can no longer endure in silence,' she said.
Rachel said the choice to step down was not made lightly and promised to release a full video in the coming days detailing the events that led to her resignation.
She ended her statement with a heartfelt appeal for support, saying, 'Your love means more than you know.'
In the caption, she wrote, 'The truth will come out very soon.'
Shortly after Rachel's announcement, the Miss Grand International (MGI) Organization released an official statement of their own, terminating the beauty queen's title.
'This decision follows her failure to fulfill her assigned duties, engagement in external projects without prior approval from the organization, and her refusal to participate in the scheduled trip to Guatemala,' MGI said.
'As a result, the organization has resolved to revoke her title with immediate effect. Miss Rachel Gupta is no longer authorized to use the title or wear the crown associated with Miss Grand International 2024.'
MGI requested that the crown be returned to the head office within 30 days.
Rachel won Miss Grand International 2024 in October last year.
The Philippines' CJ Opiaza was named 1st runner-up, with Myanmar as 2nd runner-up, France, 3rd, and Brazil, 4th runner-up.

Nawat Itsaragrisil posts house video after Rachel Gupta claims she stayed in 'dilapidated house'

Nawat Itsaragrisil posted a video of a house on social media after Rachel Gupta, former Miss Grand International 2024, said she stayed in a "dilapidated house" during her reign. On Instagram Stories, Nawat claimed that Rachel had jobs that were not authorized by the organization, posting photos of the beauty queen taken at events. He also posted screenshots of flight details as well as hotel room bookings named after Rachel, saying "so much people lost money because of her." Per Nawat, Rachel complained about being underpaid for her Czech Republic event. "This part is organization duty, but she don't care anyone she always fussy," Nawat wrote. "She want more than US$4,000 but they don't have any receipt she always talking by herself." The organization's founder also posted "before and after" photos of Rachel that emphasize her chest. "She don't talk and she don't get authorized from organization when we ask her she said she ate protein a lot. She confirmed no surgery at all," he said. Nawat then uploaded a video of a house and said, "She stay in this house, during she was in Bangkok. Are you sure it is small for you?" The organization has also ordered Rachel to remove all MGI-related content from her digital platforms. In Rachel's 56-minute video, the Indian beauty queen claimed that she stayed in a "cramped hotel room, a small little hotel room" after her coronation. She said that she was then shifted to a "dilapidated house" outside of the city. "I was basically stuck in the house until they decided that they need me for something," she said. "I had to order food every single day. It would take two hours to come because it's so far away." Rachel announced her resignation on Wednesday. Shortly after, the MGI organization released an official statement, terminating the beauty queen's title. Nawat also teased that the "real queen [is] coming soon," uploading a video of the Philippines' CJ Opiaza, who is Rachel's first runner-up.
