Kate shares unseen wedding anniversary footage with romantic William gesture
Princess Kate delighted fans when she shared a brand new video that featured a series of tender moments with her husband Prince William - and unseen footage from their wedding anniversary
The Princess of Wales has shared touching never-before-seen wedding anniversary footage in a new video.
Kate marked the start of Mental Health Awareness Week by posting a short film showing her and Prince William together in the outdoors as she spoke about how nature improved her mental health amid her cancer journey.
"Over the past year, nature has been my sanctuary," the Princess said. "The natural world's capacity to inspire us, to nurture us and to help us heal and grow is boundless and has been understood for generations."
The mum-of-three can first be seen crouching down beside a field of purple blooms, before being joined by her husband as the pair walk through a forest together, talking.
The couple are later seen standing together in a field with flowers, taking in their natural surroundings, before sweetly embracing while standing in front of a lake with mountains in the background. And eagle-eyed fans were quick to spot something special about the footage.
It was taken at the same time - and in the same place - as the photo William and Kate shared to celebrate their 14th wedding anniversary. At the time, the couple were on an official visit to the Isle of Mull in Scotland.
The photo showed the couple with their arms around each other and came with a personal message. "Wonderful to be back on the Isle of Mull," it said. "Thank you to everyone for such a warm welcome." It was signed off with a love heart emoji and "W & C" for William and Catherine.
The couple, who married at Westminster Abbey on 29 April 2011, spent their anniversary night at a self-catering cottage on Mull following their official engagements. It was the first time Kate had been on an overnight stay during an official engagement since her cancer treatment.
Elsewhere in the new clip, the Princess can be heard saying: "Spring is the season of rebirth, of hope and new beginnings. From the dark days of winter, the outside world quietly awakens with new life and there comes a sense of optimism, anticipation and positive, hopeful change. Just as nature revives and renews, so too can we. Let us reconnect to nature and celebrate a new dawn within our hearts…"
The clip ends with a close-up shot of the Prince and Princess of Wales laughing while sitting side-by-side against a rock. "Spring is here, so let's make the most of it together," Princess Kate concluded.
It is the first in a series of videos celebrating the natural world from Kate's new 'Mother Nature' series. Other videos are set to follow in due course, highlighting the other seasons of summer, autumn and winter.
In a personal message posted on social media with the video, Kate said: "This year's Mental Health Awareness Week, we are celebrating humanity's longstanding connection to nature, and its capacity to inspire us and help us to heal and grow in mind, body and spirit."As we confront the challenges of an increasingly complex and digital world, the importance of the connection between humanity and nature takes on even more significance.
"The Mother Nature series is a reminder and reflection of the beauty and complexity of the human experience. It is a tribute to the lessons we can learn from nature, helping us to foster our own growth, strengthen our bonds with the world around us and each other. C."
Kate's interest in nature follows on from her 'Back to Nature' garden at the Chelsea Flower Show in 2019 and her longtime relationship with the Scouts, which focuses on enabling children and young people to experience the outdoors and natural world.
It has also been a theme of her charitable work – engaging with children in nature through the Natural History Museum and seeing the benefit that nature has for children and their families receiving hospice care at East Anglia Children's Hospice and more recently, Ty Hafan children's hospice in Wales.
