Back by popular demand, Spa Valley Railway in Tunbridge Wells, Kent will be bringing back the popular 'Faulty Towers Dining Experience' to its calendar of events.

Launching this weekend on March 15, this experience invites you to step aboard the carriages where you'll eat a three-course meal, as you're joined by iconic characters like Basil, Sybil and Manuel.
New for 2025, the heritage railway has also launched a new 'A Taste of Faulty Towers Ploughman's Lunch', where you'll enjoy a shorter lunchtime experience accompanied by an iconic Ploughman's lunch to entice cheese lovers.

This year, Spa Valley Railway will be joining railways up and down the country to celebrate 200 years of the modern railway, with a calendar of events from afternoon teas to cheese tastings and Sunday roasts.
'The Faulty Towers Dining Experience' is bookable for £75 a person, with dates available to book for June 21, August 23 and October 11.
'A Taste of Faulty Towers: Ploughman's Lunch' will be bookable for £60 a person, with dates available on May 25 and June 15.

Dog walker discovers rare fish linked to dark legend on windswept Aussie beach
A dog walker has laughed off suggestions that her rare discovery on a remote Australian beach could be a bad omen. The first sign that something odd had washed up on the sand was the group of eagles flying right down onto the sand. Sybil Jethro describes Tasmania's west coast as wild, and consequently, it's not unusual for her to come across whales, dolphins, or seals washed up on Ocean Beach near Strahan. 'But I hadn't seen anything like this, certainly nothing this big,' she said. The glistening creature she'd stumbled across was a 175cm-long oarfish, a long creature that's colloquially referred to as the 'doomsday fish' because of its connection to a dark Japanese legend. How rare oarfish are remains a mystery, because it inhabits waters 250 to 1,000 metres below the surface, and it's uncommon to see one alive. Two dead oarfish were discovered in California in August and November last year, prompting an investigation by UC San Diego's Scripps Institution of Oceanography. After the first was found by swimmers in waters off San Diego, a 4.4 magnitude earthquake was detected in Los Angeles, reviving talk of their unproven connection to these natural disasters. Associations between oarfish and earthquakes date back to 17th-century Japan, and were renewed in 2011 after 20 were spotted ahead of the earthquake that sparked the Fukushima nuclear disaster. Although there is no scientific evidence the two are connected. It was 16 degrees, the wind was strong, and rain was threatening to pour, so visitors to the beach were keeping to the lookout, and no one else likely saw the oarfish in person. While her bounding, 25kg dog was interested in its body, he didn't try and take a bite out of it, which was unusual behaviour. When Sybil returned home on Monday morning and shared images of the fish to social media, a friend immediately contacted her. 'It was so shiny, pretty and beautiful. But it isn't anymore, because I went back in the afternoon and it had been mauled. It was a good feast for the eagles and crows,' she said. 'When I got back a few hours later, there was no head, and the body was almost gone. I was really lucky to see it in such beautiful condition.' Authorities were later seen examining what remained of the carcass, and Yahoo is working to confirm whether samples have been taken. Comedian Russell Brand pleads not guilty to rape, sexual assault charges
British comedian and actor Russell Brand pleaded not guilty Friday at a London criminal court to five charges of sexual offences including rape and sexual assault. The media personality turned anti-establishment influencer faces one count of rape, one of oral rape, two of sexual assault and one of indecent assault between 1999 and 2005, involving four women. Crowds were waiting as Brand, 49, arrived at Southwark Crown Court in an open-buttoned shirt and dark blazer for the plea hearing, after being granted conditional bail at a previous hearing. He gained international recognition as the husband of pop star Katy Perry, but is better known in the UK for his hyper-sexualised and often lewd comedy routines and TV and radio appearances in the early 2000s. Now living partly in the US, Brand appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court in central London earlier this month, where he showed no emotion as a prosecutor read out allegations against him. On Friday Brand appeared in the dock flanked by two officers, where he stood stock-still and looked straight ahead as he delivered his pleas. He is now due to stand trial next year, on June 3, 2026. Prosecutors charged Brand following a police probe into allegations aired in a 2003 Channel 4 documentary. He is accused of raping one woman in a hotel room following an event in the southern Bournemouth area in 1999. Another charge relates to the oral rape and sexual assault of a woman in 2004 in central London. The accusations involve four women, including one who was a TV worker, and another who was a radio station worker at the time of the alleged assaults. In a video response on X after he was charged in April, Brand said he was "grateful" for the "opportunity" to defend himself. - Conservative guru - "I was a fool before I lived in the light of the Lord. I was a drug addict, a sex addict and an imbecile, but what I never was was a rapist. I've never engaged in non-consensual activity," he said in the video. Born in 1975 to working-class parents in Essex, east of London, Brand began his stand-up career as a teenager, eventually working as an MTV presenter and host of a Big Brother spin-off. He presented a show on the BBC's Radio 2 station between 2006 and 2008, but quit after an on-air prank when he left a sexually explicit voicemail for "Fawlty Towers" actor Andrew Sachs about his granddaughter.
