JeM chief Masood Azhar's relatives among 5 terrorists killed in Operation Sindoor
Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) chief Masood Azhar's brothers-in-law Hafiz Muhammed Jameel and Mohammad Yusuf Azhar were among five terrorists killed when the Indian forces targeted and destroyed nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, sources in the government said.
The strikes, called Operation Sindoor, had hit the headquarters of the Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed. The strikes, conducted using missiles — 'niche technology weapons with careful selection of warheads' — were in retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people were killed two weeks ago.
Of the nine sites targeted, five were in PoK (two sites each in Muzaffarabad and Kotli and one in Bhimber), and four in Pakistan (two in Sialkot, one each in Muridke and Bahawalpur) – a marked departure from 2019 when, following the Pulwama terror attack, the Indian Air Force targeted one terror site, at Balakot, in Pakistan.
The nine sites targeted were Markaz Taiba at Muridke near Lahore, the headquarters of the Lashkar-e-Taiba where 26/11 terrorist Ajmal Kasab and Lashkar scout David Coleman Headley were trained; Markaz Subhanallah, the Jaish-e-Mohammed in Bahawalpur; Sarjal in Sialkot; Mehmona Joya in Sialkot; Sawai Nala in Muzaffarabad; Syedna Bilal in Muzaffarabad; Gulpur in Kotli; Abbas in Kotli; and Bhimber.
Here are the details of the five terrorists killed, according to government sources:
1. Mudassar Khadian Khas, aka Mudassar, aka Abu Jundal: Affiliated to Lashkar-e-Taiba, he was in-charge of Markaz Taiba in Muridke.
2. Hafiz Muhammed Jameel: Affiliated to JeM, he is the eldest brother-in-law of JeM chief Masood Azhar. He was in-charge of Markaz Subhan Allah in Bahawalpur and was reportedly involved in fundraising for JeM, according to the sources.
3. Mohammad Yusuf Azhar, aka Ustad Ji, aka Mohd Salim, aka Ghosi Sahab: Affiliated to JeM, he, too, is the brother-in-law of Masood Azhar and handled weapons training for the terror outfit. He is wanted in the IC-814 hijacking case and was also reportedly involved in multiple terrorist attacks in Jammu & Kashmir.
4. Khalid, aka Abu Akasha: Affiliated to Lashkar-e-Taiba, he has been involved in multiple terrorist attacks in Jammu & Kashmir. He was reportedly engaged in weapons smuggling from Afghanistan.
5. Mohammad Hassan Khan: Affiliated to JeM, he is the son of Mufti Asghar Khan Kashmiri, the operational commander of JeM in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, according to the sources. He has also reportedly played a key role in coordinating terrorist attacks in Jammu & Kashmir.

During a community event with the Indian diaspora in Berlin, Prasad highlighted India's remarkable progress in IT, space, and digital transformation under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, contrasting it with Pakistan's repeated failures in wars while referring to the repeated incidents of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism and the military's dominant role in the country's politics. "India and Pakistan were born the same day. Where are we in India, and where are they (Pakistan)? India has become a major global IT power in the world. India has become an emerging space power in the world. The startup movements here are now globally recognised. India has also become the second biggest mobile phone manufacturer in the world. We have brought digital transformation with equity and justice," Prasad said. "What Pakistan is doing is creating terror machines. Vijay Mallya Opens Up About Returning To India: "If I Get Assurance Of..."
Fugitive businessman Vijay Mallya has stated that he would consider returning to the country if he is assured of a fair trial in connection with accusations of defaulting on loans worth several crores from Indian banks. In a rare and candid four-hour conversation with podcaster Raj Shamani, Mr Mallya, who is wanted in India for alleged loan defaults, addressed the allegations against him, the downfall of Kingfisher Airlines, and his potential return to India. He said he would "seriously consider" returning to India if he is assured of a fair trial and a dignified existence in his home country. "If I have a fair assurance of a fair trial and dignified existence in India, I will think about it (returning to India) seriously..." Mr Mallya told the podcaster. On being called "fugitive" and "fraud" because he chose not to come back to India, Mr Mallya said it was "fair". However, he questioned why he is being called a "chor" (thief) and where is the "chori" (theft). "Call me a fugitive for not going to India post-March (2016). I didn't run away, I flew out of India on a prescheduled visit. Fair enough, I did not return for reasons that I consider are valid, so if you want to call me a fugitive, go ahead, but where is the 'chor' coming from... where is the 'chori'?" he said. Elsewhere in the podcast, Mr Mallya opened up about Kingfisher Airlines' downfall. He said he approached then Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee with a plan to downsize the airline to save it. However, his request was met with opposition. He attributed much of the airline's troubles to the 2008 global financial crisis. The economic downturn had a significant impact on India, affecting nearly every sector of the economy, he said. "The money stopped. It got dry. The value of the Indian rupee also took a hit," Mr Mallya told the podcast host. Mr Mallya said that, recognising the worsening economic climate, he reached out to Pranab Mukherjee to seek permission to shrink Kingfisher's operations. "I went to Shri Pranab said I have a problem. Kingfisher Airlines needs to downsize, cut the number of aircraft, and lay off employees, as I can't afford to operate under these depressed economic circumstances," Mr Mallya said. However, he added that his appeal was rejected. "I was told not to downsize. You continue, banks will support you. That is how it all started." Mr Mallya added that despite these assurances, Kingfisher Airlines was ultimately compelled to halt all flights amid mounting financial troubles. Notably, Mr Mallya left Indian for the UK in March 2016. He has since resided in London, where he fought a prolonged legal battle against extradition to India.
