Just BTS' RM Enjoying Fun Photoshoot With Military Buddies Before Discharge
Last Updated: All of them were seen having the best time of their lives at the photobooth just days before their discharge. With just days left for discharge from the military, BTS' Kim Namjoon, aka RM, is happier than ever. The K-pop idol delighted his fans by sharing yet another update from the last few days of his mandatory military service. Along with the pictures, RM also shared a countdown for his fans, which read D-3, indicating that he has his bags packed for his discharge on June 10. Taking to his Instagram Stories on Friday, June 6, the 30-year-old BTS leader shared a collage of photos. In the first picture, RM, in his military uniform, posed solo while making a goofy face. The next three snapshots were with his colleagues. They were seen having the best time of their lives at the photobooth just before their discharge. RM's recent update was shared by fans on Reddit. And in no time, many flocked to the comment section to react to his pictures. One fan said, 'We're almost there!!! I know we're excited but there's no one more excited than Namjoon." Another added, 'The third picture- can't decide whether that's cute or just hot af. I'mma just cry in that corner over there. I love him sm." Someone penned, 'HE LOOKS SO GOOD GOD DAMN." RM is all set to get discharged in three days with Kim Taehyung, aka V. Jimin and Jungkook will be relieved from their duties just a day later on June 11. Suga is scheduled to complete his duties by June 21. According to a statement released by BTS' agency BigHit Music, the four members will not be directly discharged from their military bases. Instead, they will address fans in private, low-key events at separate designated locations. The agency emphasised that these will not be any public events. RM and V, who both enlisted in December 2023 but served in different divisions, RM in the Capital Defense Command and V in the elite Special Duty Team, will greet fans from Chuncheon. Jimin and Jungkook, who served together under the companionship programme, will appear at Yeoncheon. Speaking of RM's work front, the 30-year-old K-pop idol made history at the 2025 American Music Awards by becoming the first K-pop artist to win in the Favourite Artist category. Moreover, back in May, RM became the first and only Asian and K-pop soloist to land 30 entries in the Billboard Digital Song Sales Chart. While there are no updates regarding his musical endeavours, it is being reported that he might return to the television screens with the hit variety show Problematic Men. Inside Saudi's hajj-only barbershop, shaving thousands of heads in a day
MINA - Near the holy city of Mecca, men in white robes stand quietly in a long queue, waiting for the next important act of their hajj pilgrimage: a haircut. Shaving or cutting the hair comes near the end of the hajj, and marks the moment when pilgrims can change out of the Ihram clothing that signifies purity and devotion. The barbershop, strategically positioned by the Jamarat complex in Mina, where the "stoning of the devil" ritual took place on Friday, opens exclusively for the annual hajj and does a roaring trade. On the pilgrimage's third day, which coincides with the major festival of Eid al-Adha, its barbers typically handle 6,000 customers, said manager Imad Fawzi, an official employed by the hajj organisation. Inside, men in plastic aprons wield electric clippers and cut-throat razors, shearing scalps on an industrial scale for 60 riyals ($13) per head. AFP | HAZEM BADER Despite the rush -- there are so many customers that an usher is required -- Ahmed, a 28-year-old barber from Egypt, is happy in his work. "This is a very simple thing to do, but it brings us so much joy," he says. "We're happy to serve the pilgrims... and to be able to work in a holy place," he said. Fawzi, who grew up in Mecca, called himself a "child of the hajj". "I've been working in hajj since I was seven," he says. - 'This outfit is exhausting' - The once-a-year hairdresser is not the only place for a cut: parts of Mecca and the plain of Mina, on its outskirts, turn into an open-air barbershop at this stage of the hajj. Leaving the Jamarat, a southeast Asian man took out a razor and started scraping the back of his head as he walked. Further down the street, a group of African men were shaving each other with clippers. In Mecca, entire streets are lined with barbershops doing brisk business. While men shave their hair, women trim theirs by a fingertip length. AFP | HAZEM BADER About 1.6 million pilgrims have gathered in and around Mecca, Islam's holiest city, for this year's hajj, which all Muslims with the means must complete at least once. Outside the Jamarat barbershop, Hani Abdel Samih is looking forward to changing out of the wrap-around skirt and shawl he has been wearing for the past three days. "The stoning of the devil at Jamarat requires great effort and we've been wearing these clothes all day," he said. "We wanted to wear our everyday clothes and be comfortable, so we went to the nearest barbershop we could find after the Jamarat," said the Egyptian. Yet his face was beaming with joy. He said he did not mind the wait for a haircut that bears a special place in his spiritual journey. "I'm excited, of course! Because this is Sunnah from the Prophet, peace be upon him," he said, referring to the teachings of the Prophet Mohammed. "We like (this ritual) and we cannot break it," he said. The hajj retraces the Prophet's last pilgrimage, with rites at Mecca's Grand Mosque and Mount Arafat before "stoning the devil" -- throwing pebbles at three giant walls at Jamarat.

Uzbekistan, Jordan Qualify For 2026 FIFA World Cup; China Eliminated
Three additional Asian teams have secured their spots for the 2026 FIFA World Cup following the latest round of qualifiers. Uzbekistan and Jordan will make their tournament debuts, while South Korea has extended its streak to 11 consecutive appearances. Conversely, China has been eliminated with one match remaining. Uzbekistan clinched its place with a goalless draw against the United Arab Emirates in Group A. This result was sufficient for the Central Asian team, featuring Manchester City defender Abdukodir Khusanov and Roma forward Eldor Shomurodov, to become the fifth team to qualify for the tournament, joining Japan, New Zealand, Iran, and Argentina. In the same group, Qatar, the host of the 2022 World Cup, narrowly defeated 10-man Iran 1-0. Both Qatar and the UAE will advance to the playoffs, where two additional World Cup spots will be contested, according to Xinhua. In Group B, Jordan made history by qualifying for its first World Cup with a 3-0 victory over Oman. South Korea, a regular participant on the world stage, secured a 2-0 away win against Iraq to maintain its perfect run since 1986. Iraq will join the playoffs, while the final playoff spot from the group will be decided between Oman and Palestine, who face off in the final round. China's slim hopes were extinguished in Group C after a 1-0 defeat to Indonesia in Jakarta. Ole Romeny converted a penalty just before halftime to secure the win and send Indonesia to the playoff round, while China was left to reflect on another unsuccessful campaign. Bahrain also exited contention following a 2-0 loss to Saudi Arabia. In another match, Australia claimed a 1-0 victory over Japan in Perth, positioning itself strongly to secure a direct berth from the group. The Socceroos lead Saudi Arabia by three points and have a +8 goal difference advantage heading into the final round. The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States from June 11 to July 19, with 48 teams competing across 48 venues. (With IANS Inputs)
