Legally Blonde Prequel Series Finds Its Teenage Elle Woods — Watch Reese Witherspoon Make the Announcement
Prime Video's Legally Blonde prequel series, Elle, has found its teenage Elle Woods: Reese Witherspoon announced Thursday that Lexi Minetree (Law & Order: SVU, The Murdaugh Murders) will inhabit the coveted role.
'After watching so many incredible auditions for the new Elle prequel series on Prime Video, we finally found our Elle,' Witherspoon said on Instagram. 'And today, I got to break the news myself! Meet Lexi Minetree.'

Elle was originally announced in May 2024 at the end of Amazon'' inaugural Upfront presentation to advertisers, with Witherspoon adorning her signature pink outfit and accompanied by none other than her dog, Bruiser (or at least a facsimile).
'Fans will get to know how Elle Woods navigated her world as a teenager with her distinct personality and ingenuity, in ways that only our beloved Elle could do,' she said at the time.
Witherspoon will serve as an executive producer alongside creator/showrunner Laura Kittrell (High School, Insecure), Lauren Neustadter, Lauren Kisilevsky and Marc Platt.

But even when she becomes the target of their suspicions, Marta maintains her integrity and compassion, finding an understanding ally in renowned detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig). In a cast full of major stars — including Jamie Lee Curtis, Chris Evans, Don Johnson, Toni Collette and Michael Shannon as Harlan's extended family — de Armas emerges as the most engaging presence, and Marta provides the story's anchor. Craig may have gone on to solve more mysteries as Benoit Blanc, but he's not the only one who makes a lasting impression. His latest assignment puts him on the trail of a conspiracy, which leads him to former blade runner Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford). Joi functions as a sounding board and support system for K, but she's not just a glorified assistant. She has needs and desires of her own, even if she can never physically touch her lover. One of the movie's most affecting scenes involves Joi employing a replicant surrogate so that she and K can have sex, and de Armas beautifully expresses that sense of longing and frustration. Rent/buy at Apple or Amazon De Armas shows up for just one extended sequence in Daniel Craig's final movie as superspy James Bond, but she gives the somewhat bloated movie a jolt of energy and leaves the audience wanting more once she disappears. She plays Paloma, a rookie CIA agent sent by Bond's American ally Felix Leiter (Jeffrey Wright) to aid him on a mission in Cuba. While Bond is suave, confident and sometimes overly serious, Paloma is exuberant and a bit nervous, but she proves to be resourceful when the moment arises. De Armas shows off her charisma and her skills as an action hero, and Paloma looks like a prime candidate for a potential spin-off. That probably won't happen in the current Bond era, but 'No Time to Die' offers a glimpse into de Armas' future ability to carry an action franchise. Rent/buy at Apple or Amazon De Armas brings nuance and heartfelt emotion to a fairly thankless role in director Todd Phillips' fact-based dramedy about a pair of friends who become unlikely international arms dealers. De Armas plays the concerned wife of David Packouz (Miles Teller), an aimless dreamer who seems to find his calling when he reconnects with his childhood best friend Efraim Diveroli (Jonah Hill) and is introduced to the shady world of contract bidding for the Department of Defense. Although de Armas' Iz spends most of her time sitting at home worrying about David's safety and getting angry about his lies, de Armas effectively conveys the anguish and frustration of Iz's position, grounding the story in a familiar dynamic. As David and Efraim travel around the world, getting themselves deeper and deeper into trouble, Iz provides a sensible, relatable counterpoint to the mayhem. Rent/buy at Apple or Amazon Director Andrew Dominik's fictionalized biopic about Marilyn Monroe is a bit of a disastrous mess, with bold stylistic experiments that mostly don't pay off. One aspect that Dominik gets right, though, is casting de Armas as the troubled movie star, whose beauty most likely prevented her from getting the respect she sought as an artist. Although the filmmaker puts his protagonist through nearly as much torture as she endured from the actual people in her life, de Armas maintains her poise and vulnerability in a sensitive and empathetic performance that earned her an Oscar nomination. The movie is often tough to watch, but it shows the depth and range that de Armas can bring to a role — which she deserves to showcase in a project more worthy of her talents. Watch on Netflix

Clarkson's Farm series four finale to show team facing issues before pub opens
The series four finale of Clarkson's Farm is to show the team facing last-minute problems as the Farmer's Dog pub opens for business. The reality TV series, which follows former Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson and his crew as they navigate new challenges and projects at Diddly Squat Farm, returned for its latest series last month. The last two episodes of series four, which will be uploaded to Prime Video on June 6, will show Clarkson's preparations for the pub's opening as he receives help from his co-star Kaleb Cooper. In episode seven, titled Hurrying, Clarkson, 65, realises that the August bank holiday weekend, which is when he is due to open the pub, is a week earlier than he thought. In the next episode, titled Landlording, last-minute problems are spotted and sorted as Clarkson and Cooper hang up the pub's sign, signalling that the establishment is open for business. The pub, formerly known as The Windmill, is located in Asthall, near Burford in Oxfordshire, and was reopened by Clarkson on August 23, 2024. Clarkson sells his own Hawkstone lager in the venue and wanted to have all of the produce sold there grown or reared by British farmers. In a post to the pub's website, he said that ingredients like quinine in tonic water cannot be grown in Britain but emphasised that they are 'doing all we possibly can to support British farming'. The new series has seen Clarkson dealing with a range of livestock – from a big new bull and a very little pig, to high-tech goats. The programme, which first aired in 2021, brings to light problems which British farmers face and the costs of running a farm. Clarkson has become a vocal supporter of farmers and attended a protest in London against the government's move to introduce inheritance tax on farmland in November 2024.

Watch: John Cena, Idris Elba team up in 'Heads of State'
June 4 (UPI) -- John Cena, Idris Elba and Priyanka Chopra Jonas drive through an explosion in a new trailer for the Prime Video action comedy Heads of State. Elba stars as British prime minister Sam Clarke, while Cena plays Will Derringer, the U.S. president who doubles as an actor. Chopra Jonas portrays Noel Bisset, an MI6 agent. "Twenty-four hours ago, somebody shot down Air Force One over unfriendly territory," a voice says in the preview, which arrived Wednesday. Clarke and Derringer were in the plane when it was attacked. "Now, they'll embark on a breathtaking adventure," the narrator continues. The rivals are forced by their circumstances to learn to work together. Carla Gugino, Jack Quaid, Stephen Root, Sarah Niles, Richard Coyle and Paddy Considine also star in the film, which arrives on Prime Video July 2.
