Orlando Pirates find replacement for Paseka Mako?
Two left-backs are not enough at clubs like Orlando Pirates to compete in the Betway Premiership , especially with the CAF Champions League returning to the Orlando Stadium next season. Paseko Mako has left the club, minus one left-back. According to this report, the Sea Robbers need an addition to compete and cover for Deon Hotto and Yanga Madiba . Kick Off believes that SuperSport United and Amajita captain Neo Rapoo has been noticed by the Orlando Pirates scouts. Rapoo, hailing from Lonehill, Johannesburg, made his senior debut at Matsatsantsa in 2022 just after his 17th birthday. Since then, Rapoo has earned 22 games despite a lengthy injury in the winter of 2024. 'Neo is one of the players that the scouts at Orlando Pirates have identified,' Kick Off reported. 'The club has already made inquiries about the availability of the player for next season,' a source added to the outlet. Rapoo also captained South Africa's U20 team at the Afcon championship in Morocco in May, including a crucial goal against Sierra Leone in Group A. Several other players; Ben Malango, Javi Martinez, Badr Benoun, Carlinhos Vinicius and Ahmed Abdelkader, who's loan ends and returns to Al Ahly. It now remains to be seen where the Lion of Judah ends up next as he becomes a free agent. Before signing for Qatar, however, there had been rumours of interesting in Iran, North Africa as well as South Africa. On home soil it has been Chiefs who have prominently been linked with the player over the years. During the previous close season, it was claimed that Amakhosi had made inquiries and even bids for Tau, but could not meet Al Ahly's valuation. With Tau being a free agent and admitting he grew up supporting Chiefs, he names a salary he would accept. This in a conversation with Robert Marawa on MSW on Wednesday evening. The Lion of Judah speaks about being a 'reasonable guy' and that he is open to negotiating. In the end he claimed he would accept R450k a month in a two-year deal with an option to renew. Percy Tau on his next club: ‘Let's not rule out Orlando Pirates!'
Percy Tau has been released by his Qatari club, Qatar SC sending teams locally and abroad on high alert. Kaizer Chiefs are known to be on the market for experienced forwards and Tau could certainly be available timorously. Tau had only joined Qatar SC in January from Al Ahly, in what has proven to be an extremely short stint. The South African international played just 10 times for the club, in an injury ravaged spell. He failed to find the back of the net during his time there, but was able to register four assists in the process. Tau proved to be one of several exits announced by the club on Thursday, including head coach Mehdi Natfi. Before signing for Qatar, there had been rumours of interesting in Iran, North Africa as well as South Africa. On home soil it has been Chiefs who have prominently been linked with the player over the years. During the previous close season, it was claimed that Amakhosi had made inquiries and even bids for Tau, but could not meet Al Ahly's valuation. After admitting that he supported Chiefs growing up but still loves Mamelodi Sundowns, Tau made an Orlando Pirates admission. 'I'd Listen to anybody, let's not rule out Orlando Pirates, or even Stellenbosch, SuperSport (United). I'll not rule out anyone. My decision will be based on who gives me a contract. Of course Sundowns still has my love, but then it will be based on who gives me a contract because at the end of the day, I still have to support my family. So just because I love the club it doesn't mean ill stick around for any offer' said Tau. Pirates fans would you be happy to have Tau sign for your club? Let us know by clicking on the comment tab.
