Carmakers GM, Tesla and Ford lead list of US companies in China exposure: report
General Motors , one of America's top carmakers, leads US companies in its exposure to China, perched in a delicate position as bilateral trade tensions persist amid US President Donald Trump 's steep 55 per cent tariffs on Chinese imports, according to a research report published this week.

But GM is hardly alone.

Ford , engine manufacturer Cummins, aerospace and tech firm Honeywell, beverage giant
Coca-Cola , and chipmaker
Qualcomm also rank in the top 10 for exposure to China, illustrating corporate America's deep dependence on the country.

Nvidia did not make it to the top 10 but remain among the largest tech firms at risk due to disruptions in the Chinese market and their global supply chains.
That is according to the latest annual index from market research firm Strategy Risks, which assessed the top 250 publicly listed US companies to identify those most vulnerable to US-China trade tensions in 2025.

China imports Argentina soybean meal in trial amid US tensions
China has booked a rare shipment of soybean meal from Argentina, as the country seeks to secure supplies of a key animal feed ingredient amid an ongoing trade war with the US. Advertisement Several Chinese traders and feed producers jointly ordered the cargo from the world's top exporter of soy meal and oil as a trial shipment, according to people with knowledge of the deal. It marks the first purchase since Beijing opened the door to imports from the country in 2019, the people said. The 30,000-ton shipment is expected to leave Argentina in July and arrive at the southern Chinese province of Guangdong in September, said the people, who asked not to be named as they were discussing private deals. The cargo was priced at about US$360 a ton including freight, the people said. While the volume is small, the purchase is seen as a test ahead of the fourth quarter, when US soybeans usually dominate the global market after the American harvest. China typically relies on imports of raw soybeans, which are crushed domestically into meal for livestock, as well as cooking oil. Argentina's top crop exporting and crushing group, which includes the major trading houses as members, met on Wednesday in Buenos Aires with Liu Huanxin, chief of China's National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration, according to Gustavo Idigoras, who heads the group called Ciara-Cec. They discussed the commercial feasibility of Argentine soy meal exports, Idigoras said. It also imported a record monthly volume of Brazilian soybeans in May.

China has begun issuing rare earth export licences to European firms, EU sources say
China has started issuing export licences for rare earth elements and magnets to European companies, EU sources confirmed, although the bloc continues to push for a structural solution to a situation that has jumped to the top of the bilateral agenda. Advertisement European governments and companies have for weeks been lobbying Chinese authorities to ease export restrictions, which were introduced in response to US President Donald Trump 's 'reciprocal tariffs' in April. Earlier on Thursday, China's commerce ministry said it had been 'accelerating approval of rare earth export licences' for EU firms in 'accordance with the law'. 'China stands ready to further enhance communication with relevant countries on export controls, actively facilitating convenient and compliant trade flows,' said ministry spokesman He Yadong. EU sources stopped short of saying that there was a 'green channel' open – a term used by Beijing – but stated they have observed the ministry granting licences.
