Five cities of MP to be developed as metropolitan areas
Indore, The Madhya Pradesh government on Tuesday approved a proposal for a law to develop Indore, Bhopal, Ujjain, Jabalpur and Gwalior as metropolitan areas to speed up their development, officials said.
They said the proposal for the 'Madhya Pradesh Metropolitan Area Planning and Development Act 2025' was approved in the cabinet meeting held at the historic Rajbada Palace in Indore.
The cabinet decided to form metropolitan authorities for planned development around the five major cities of the MP. Officials said two metropolitan development authorities will be formed in the first phase.
The first Metropolitan Development Authority will be formed by combining parts of Indore, Ujjain, Dewas, Dhar and Shajapur districts, while the second such body will be set up by combining parts of Bhopal, Sehore, Raisen, Vidisha and Biaora, an official said.
According to officials, the Chief Minister will be the chairman of these authorities. Referring to the decision, CM Mohan Yadav told reporters, 'In the cabinet meeting held at Rajbada, our government has made far-reaching and public welfare decisions whose impact will be felt for many centuries.'
The CM said this was the first time after India's independence that the cabinet meeting was held at Rajbada in Indore.
The state government organised the cabinet meeting at Rajbada on the occasion of the conclusion of the 300th birth anniversary year of Devi Ahilyabai, the ruler of the former Holkar dynasty of Indore. The palace was decorated in its historical grandeur.
Indore has been the capital of the former Holkar rulers, and Rajbada was the palace of these rulers. It was built about 200 years ago and is a tourist attraction in the city.
The architecture of Rajbada, associated with the cultural identity of Indore, is a mixture of many forms and architectural styles of French, Maratha and Mughal style. This building, made of wood and stone, is located in the heart of the city.

No schemes of previous govt will be discontinued: Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav
Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Saturday said that all public beneficiary schemes introduced by his predecessor and former CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan will continue. Chief Minister Yadav reiterated this while addressing a programme organised by the state government in Sehore district, in the presence of Union Agriculture and Farmer Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. "The opposition (Congress) always questions our intention. In the presence of ex-CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, let me make it clear that no scheme introduced during his tenure will be stopped. We together will make efforts to arrange adequate funds for all the schemes," CM Yadav said. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister also indicated that his government is considering for increasing monthly installment of 'Ladli Behna Yojana', the much-talked about women-centric scheme which was introduced by Shivraj Chouhan ahead of the state Assembly elections in 2023. "Rakshabandhan festival is coming and let me take this opportunity to announce that Madhya Pradesh government is going to increase cash benefit to women under Ladli Behna Yojana up to Rs 3,000 against Rs 1,250 at present," Yadav said. Sehore district, which is located near the state capital Bhopal, is home district of Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and it falls under Vidisha Lok Sabha constituency being represented by him. During the programme, Mohan Yadav and Shivraj Chouhan jointly laid the foundation of several projects worth more than Rs 130 crore. While addressing the programme, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan reiterated complete support and cooperation to CM Yadav, saying he believes that his successor would do a better job than him for the growth of the state. "I am not the one who would say I have done this and that. I will be happier if Mohan Yadav do better than me for the people of Madhya Pradesh," Shivraj Singh Chouhan said while addressing a public rally in Sehore. Meanwhile, he also mentioned that his padyatra carried out in his hometown Budhni was presented in a 'wrong way'. He said that some mediapersons had made assessments on their own. "But, let me make it clear that the party's instructions are important. Mohan Yadav is Chief Minister, and I am Union Agriculture Minister," he said. Speaking further, Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that being a public representative, he must come to visit the people of his constituency, and it should not be interpreted otherwise. "But some mediapersons tried to speculate that in another way which was totally wrong," the Union Minister said. He was referring to a two-day 'Viksit Bharat Sankalp Padyatra' in the Vidisha constituency which was organised in May to highlight the welfare schemes of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government. Along with many of his supporters, his family members including son and daughter-in-law had also participated on the second day of padyatra.

Sambhal violence: Posters with photos of absconding suspects to be displayed in other UP districts
Posters of the absconding persons accused in the Sambhal violence case will be displayed in other districts of Uttar Pradesh, PTI reported. The properties of the persons accused wanted in the matter will also be attached, the news agency quoted Sambhal Superintendent of Police Krishan Kumar as saying on Friday. Kumar added that raids were being conducted at several locations to arrest the persons. The police had in February put up posters with photos of 74 persons suspected to be involved in the violence that erupted in November. The photos were displayed at several spots in Sambhal for residents to identify the persons accused in the matter and help authorities find them. On November 24, violence broke out in Sambhal after a group of Muslims objected to a court-ordered survey of the Shahi Jama Masjid in Chandausi town. A trial court had ordered the survey in a suit claiming that the mosque had been built in 1526 by Mughal ruler Babar on the site of the 'centuries-old Shri Hari Har Temple dedicated to Lord Kalki'. Five persons were killed in the violence during the survey. In December, the district administration said that posters of those allegedly involved in the violence will be put up on public walls. Additionally, the Uttar Pradesh government had said that it will make those involved in the violence pay for the damage to public property and display their pictures on public walls. The police have registered eight first information reports against 150 persons and 2,500 other unidentified individuals suspected to be involved in the violence. Several persons were arrested for allegedly throwing stones at the police during the violence. In 2020, the Uttar Pradesh government had put up posters of individuals allegedly involved in vandalism during the protests against the contentious Citizen Amendment Act, before the Allahabad High Court forced them to be taken down, The Hindu reported.

However, according to sources, within the party, Shivraj Singh Chouhan's march was perceived as his personal endeavour to stay connected with his Lok Sabha constituency and the state where he was Chief Minister for more than 16 years.
