Vi to launch 5G services in Bengaluru from June 11

Bengaluru, Jun 10 (UNI) Telecom operator Vodafone Idea (Vi) on Tuesday announced the launch of its 5G services in Bengaluru, with the rollout scheduled to commence from tomorrow, bringing high-speed connectivity to India's technology capital.
With this launch, Vi aims to offer faster data speeds, lower latency, and improved network reliability to consumers and enterprises in the city. Bengaluru becomes the latest addition to Vi's growing 5G footprint, following recent launches in Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Patna, and Chandigarh.
The expansion is part of Vi's strategic plan to roll out 5G services across all 17 priority circles—where it has acquired spectrum—by August 2025.
"Vi users in Bengaluru with 5G-enabled devices can now access our 5G services, designed to deliver a superior online experience," the company said in a statement. As an introductory offer, Vi is offering unlimited 5G data on plans starting from ₹299.
Commenting on the rollout, Anand Dani, Business Head – Karnataka, Vodafone Idea, said, 'We're excited to bring Vi 5G to Bengaluru, a city that stands at the forefront of tech and digital innovation. With our next-gen 5G and enhanced 4G network, we aim to deliver an enriched experience to our users. Encouraged by strong response in launched markets, we are committed to expanding our 5G footprint in line with growing demand and 5G handset adoption.'
To ensure seamless performance, Vi has collaborated with Samsung to deploy advanced, energy-efficient infrastructure. The company has also implemented AI-powered Self-Organizing Networks (SON) to dynamically optimise network performance. The deployment includes high transmit power, multi-technology support, and small form-factor radios, delivering energy-efficient and eco-friendly solutions.
Alongside the 5G rollout, Vi has significantly upgraded its 4G network across Karnataka over the past 10 months. This includes the deployment of 900 MHz spectrum across nearly 3,000 sites for better indoor coverage, doubling of 2100 MHz spectrum on 1,800 sites, and expansion of 1800 MHz spectrum capacity across more than 4,100 locations. These enhancements have led to a 46 per cent increase in network capacity since March 2024.
Vi reiterated its commitment to building a future-ready digital infrastructure that caters to the evolving needs of consumers and enterprises.

In an order issued here, the aviation regulator stated that an Air India Boeing 787-8 aircraft operating flight AI-171 (Ahmedabad to Gatwick) met with an accident on Thursday. As a preventive measure, the DGCA has directed Air India to carry out additional maintenance actions on Boeing 787-8/9 aircraft equipped with Genx engines, in coordination with the concerned regional DGCA offices. A power assurance check should be carried out within two weeks, and maintenance actions on Boeing 787-8/9 aircraft must be ensured at the earliest based on a review of recurring faults observed over the past 15 days. The DGCA stated that the complete report of the above-mentioned inspections must be submitted to the DGCA for review. UNI RBE GNK
