India Gazette12-05-2025

Guwahati (Assam) [India], May 12 (ANI): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday performed the Bhoomi Poojan for two upcoming hotels, 'Marriott Resort & Spa' and 'Fairfield by Marriott', at Borjhar in Guwahati.
The memorandum of understanding (MOU) for these landmark projects, worth Rs 500 crore, were signed during the Advantage Assam 2.0, and work has commenced within just three months.
Chief Minister Sarma said that Assam is emerging as a key destination for global hospitality chains, with 11 five-star hotels in the pipeline to meet rising demand.
'11 five-star hotels are in the pipeline and with this, Guwahati is becoming a hub for global hospitality chains who are seizing the opportunity to cater to the huge demand in the region,' CM Sarma said.
On Sunday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma thanked the Indian Army for killing over 100 terrorists in the strikes conducted under Operation Sindoor and said that if Pakistan violates the cessation of hostilities, Indian forces will give a 'befitting reply' to them.
'DGMO explained all the strikes Indian armed forces did in Pakistan... No country has ever killed over 100 militants in another country. Prime Minister gave out a message to the world that wherever the terrorists are, we will kill every one of them, no matter where they hide..If Pakistan violates the ceasefire, Indian forces will give a befitting reply to them,' Assam CM said, addressing a press conference on Sunday.
On Sunday, Director General Military Operations (DGMO) Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai said that more than 100 terrorists, including those involved in the 1999 Indian Airlines flight (IC-814) hijacking, and the 2019 Pulwama terror attack, were eliminated in the precision strikes carried out by the armed forces in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) under Operation Sindoor.
Operation Sindoor was launched by the Indian Armed Forces in the early hours of May 7, targeting nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoK).
This operation was a retaliatory response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, in which 26 civilians, including one Nepali national, were killed. (ANI)

DM cracks whip on absent officials, orders salary halt

Varanasi: District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh on Saturday took strong action against absent officials during a review meeting on CM Dashboard development work. Irked by their absence, he ordered the withholding of salaries and issuance of show-cause notices. Singh directed that the salary of the Executive Engineer of PMGSY and the District Minorities Welfare Officer be stopped. A show-cause notice was also issued to the Project Manager of the Bridge Corporation for failing to attend the meeting. In the same meeting, the District Magistrate instructed officials to increase the number of Aadhaar centres in the district from 262 to 500. He said that expanding Aadhaar services would facilitate easy updates to personal details such as address, name, mobile number, photographs, and biometrics. Reviewing construction projects exceeding Rs 1 crore, Singh emphasized timely completion and directed that any issues arising during execution be immediately reported to him or the Chief Development Officer on a daily basis. Expressing dissatisfaction over slow progress in the Family ID initiative, Singh warned the Social Welfare Officer, Disabled Persons Officer, District Probation Officer, DC MNREGA, DD Agriculture, and Basic Education Officer that failure to meet the June target would result in the suspension of their June salary. During the review of the Chief Minister's Rural Housing Scheme and the NIPUN Examination Assessment, Singh noted that the district's ranking stood at 'D'. He directed all concerned departments to improve the performance and achieve an 'A' grade by June 31, 2025. Follow more information on Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad here . Amid bid to rebuild China ties, Rajnath Singh to attend SCO meet

File photo: Defence minister Rajnath Singh (PTI) NEW DELHI: Defence minister Rajnath Singh is set to visit China later this month for Shanghai Cooperation Organisation defence ministers' meet, which comes amid efforts by New Delhi and Beijing to rebuild and stabilize bilateral ties, though de-escalation between the rival armies is yet to take place along the Line of Actual Control. Singh is likely to have a bilateral meeting with his Chinese counterpart Admiral Dong Jun on the sidelines of the SCO meet on June 24-25, in what will be his first visit as defence minister to China. "The final details are still being worked out," an official said on Saturday. Pakistan defence minister Khawaja Asif is also slated to attend the SCO meet, which is taking place soon after intense cross-border military hostilities between India and Pakistan from May 7 to 10. Both India and Pakistan in 2017 became full members of the SCO, which also includes Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Iran and Belarus. Along the 3,488-km LAC with China, there are as yet no signs of de-escalation and de-induction of troops after disengagement at the two remaining face-off sites at Depsang and Demchok in eastern Ladakh last Oct, which has led to restoration of patrolling by the rival soldiers and grazing by herders as well as reduced the risk of any inadvertent escalation. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Ambato: Ecuatorianos: generen un segundo ingreso con Amazon CFD. Moreover, the deep military collusiveness between Pakistan and China was quite evident during Operation Sindoor. Pakistan used several Chinese weapons and platforms, ranging from J-10 fighters firing the PL-15 beyond visual range air-to-air missiles to HQ-9 air defence missile batteries, during the hostilities with India. Pakistan is also set to acquire at least 40 J-35A fifth-generation stealth jets and the HQ-19 long-range air defence missile systems from China.

‘ED action taken on behest of BJP': Cong protests attachment of its Sukma office

Raipur: Congress staged a protest across all the district headquarters of the state on Saturday, burning effigies of the BJP govt and the enforcement directorate (ED) to condemn the ED's attachment of the Congress office in Sukma. Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress committee president Deepak Baij criticised the ED attachment of the party office , stating the agency is acting as an 'associate organisation' of the BJP. He made these remarks while addressing media persons on Friday. Baij said the ED's action was taken at the behest of the central govt and the BJP, despite the Congress providing all financial details for the construction of the Sukma office. He termed the move an 'attack on democracy'. In protest, the Congress organised demonstrations and burnt effigies of the ED across all district headquarters in the state on Saturday. Meanwhile, the Shahar Jila Congress committee in Raipur staged a protest at Rajiv Gandhi Chowk here. Congress workers gathered at Rajiv Gandhi Chowk, raising slogans against the BJP govt and the ED. There was a brief scuffle between party workers and the police during the effigy burning. Speaking on the occasion, the party's city president Girish Dubey said that sealing the Congress office in Sukma by the ED is a direct attack on democracy, the Constitution, and the freedom of the opposition. He added that despite all documents related to the construction of the Congress Bhawan being submitted to the ED previously, the attachment of the building shows the central BJP govt is misusing central agencies to intimidate and suppress political opponents. Former MLA Vikas Upadhyay warned that if the Congress Bhawan is not reopened immediately and the ED's politically motivated action is not investigated, the Congress party will protest from 'street to Parliament'. The ED had attached the Congress party office in Sukma district on Friday, along with assets linked to former excise minister MLA Kawasi Lakhma and his son. The action, taken under the PMLA, formed part of the ongoing investigation into the alleged over Rs 2000 crore scam during the previous Congress govt.
