Actor Kamal Haasan's highly-anticipated film 'Thug Life' has finally hit theatres. His ardent fans travelled 42 km to Tamil Nadu's Hosur, closer to the border of Karnataka, to watch the film's first-day first-show at 9 am. The film was banned in Karnataka after the actor's 'Kannada was born out of Tamil' remark, which angered the Kannadigas. On Thursday, a video surfaced online showing fans bursting crackers and celebrating outside a theatre in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. It is 42 km from Bengaluru. An X user who posted the video claimed that fans had travelled from Bengaluru to watch the film, writing, 'Thuglife is banned in Karnataka, but no one can stop our love for Kamal Haasan. The controversy erupted after Haasan, at the 'Thug Life' audio launch in Chennai, said: 'Your language (Kannada) was born out of Tamil. So you are included in that line,' pointing to Shiva Rajkumar. The remark, made in the context of welcoming actor Shiva Rajkumar and celebrating cultural unity, did not sit well with pro-Kannada groups. The backlash was quick, leading to protests, a legal complaint, and eventually, a ban on the film in Karnataka. The Karnataka High Court also addressed the issue, pulling up the actor for his remarks.Haasan, however, stood firm and refused to issue an apology. In a letter to the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC), he later expressed regret over the misunderstanding. 'It pains me that my statement at the Thug Life audio launch, spoken out of genuine affection for the legendary Dr. Rajkumar's family, especially Shiva Rajkumar has been misunderstood and taken out of context. My words were intended only to convey that we are all one and from the same family and not to diminish Kannada in any way. There is no dispute or debate on the rich legacy of Kannada language," a part of his letter read. The actor also remained defiant and said that he would apologise only if he wrong, not when he is misunderstood.Trending Reel

Netizens call Deepika Padukone 'Queen' as she joins Allu Arjun in Atlee's next for a powerful role, after 'Spirit' controversy with Sandeep Reddy Vanga

Deepika Padukone has been in the news since the last few days due to her reported fall out with Sandeep Reddy Vanga from 'Spirit'. As per reports, the actress had demanded an eight-hour shift after the birth of her daughter Dua and that perhaps was the reason for her to not be a part of the film. Triptii Dimri was cast for the role then. Some reports also suggested that Deepika's demand for a certain fee also was the reason. After all the chatter around 'Spirit', Deepika has now left her fans surprised as the actress announced her next. She's set to be a part of Allu Arjun 's next directed by Atlee. That's not all, Deepika will also be seen in a very strong, powerful role and she gave a glimpse of that in announcement video. Here's how netizens have reacted to this announcement. A user said, "Queen finally in the house y'all😍😍" Another user said, "Damnnnn ……this is gonna be fire 🔥 for sureeeeee🥵🤌🏻🤌🏻" Someone commented, "AAxDP Stylish Combo💣😎" Samantha Ruth Prabhu , Mrunal Thakur, Sonakshi Sinha and others also reacted as Deepika dropped this announcement video. Deepika has previously worked with Atlee as she did an extended cameo in Shah Rukh Khan starrer 'Jawan'. But fans are now waiting to see her alongside 'Pushpa' star Allu Arjun. Meanwhile, Sandeep Reddy Vanga had dropped a cryptic note on X. He said, "When I narrate a story to an actor, I place 100% faith. There is an unsaid NDA(Non Disclosure Agreement) between us. But by doing this, You've 'DISCLOSED' the person that you are… Putting down a Younger actor and ousting my story? Is this what your feminism stands for ? As a filmmaker, I put years of hard work behind my craft & for me, filmmaking is everything. You didn't get it. You won't get it. You will never get it. Aisa karo…. Agli baar poori kahani bolna… kyunki mujhe jarra bhi farak nahi padtha. I like this kahawath very much :-) खुंदक में बिल्ली खंबा नोचे!'
