AP witnessing rapid growth under ‘double engine sarkar'

Vijayawada: Union minister of culture and tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision and Naidu's strategic planning are propelling Andhra Pradesh toward progress in all sectors. Speaking at a press conference here on Thursday, he highlighted the rapid growth in the state under the 'Double engine government' of the Centre and state. After discussions with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Shekhawat said the Central government is fully supporting irrigation and tourism projects, with works being executed in a planned and prioritised manner. Speaking of tourism in Kashmir, the minister stated that the situation in Pahalgam is now stable, encouraging tourists to visit. He added that tourism in Kashmir has seen significant growth and is expected to surge further within two weeks. Commenting on the Emergency imposed on June 25, 1975, by the Congress government, Shekhawat condemned former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi for violating fundamental rights and imposing severe restrictions on the press to suppress dissent. He said that over one lakh people were arbitrarily arrested, and the democratic system was transformed into a dictatorial regime. He accused Sanjay Gandhi of acting as a tyrant, carrying out atrocities. Shekhawat praised the united struggle of millions, led by leaders like Jayaprakash Narayan and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, which restored democracy. He expressed regret that the Congress has neither condemned nor apologised for the Emergency. The nation, he said, continues to honour the sacrifices of those who opposed the dictatorship. BJP state general secretary S Dayakar Reddy, 20-Point Programme chairman Lanka Dinakar, NTR district BJP president Adduri Sri Ram, state official spokesperson Sadineni Yamini Sharma, and Kalyan Chakravarthi attended the press meet.

Himachal: Sukhu govt misleading on Centre's devp works, says Rijiju

Highlighting that foundation stones of projects worth over ₹ 80 crore would be laid during his visit of Lahaul and Spiti and Kinnaur districts, Union minister for parliamentary affairs and minority affairs Kiren Rijiju on Thursday said tribal districts of Himachal Pradesh would witness revolutionary transformation as several development projects were in the pipeline. He also accused the Sukvinder Singh Sukhu-led Congress government of 'misleading' the people regarding the Union government's role in the state's development. Union minister for parliamentary affairs and minority affairs Kiren Rijiju meets Himachal chief minister Sukvinder Singh Sukhu in Shimla on Thursday. (HT photo) 'The Himachal government's statement that the Union government is not helping is politically motivated. A lot of development works are being done by the Centre,' said Rijiju while unveiling a central package to promote winter and adventure sports in Himachal Pradesh's tribal districts, especially Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti, as part of the Centre's border-area development strategy. Rijiju, who is on a three-day visit to the state, said, 'Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the central government has given priority to the development of infrastructure, including roads, in border areas since 2014.' He added, 'Infact, the previous Congress government had a policy of not undertaking any development in border areas, which has been completely reversed by the Modi government. We are building roads up to the border and have come closer to China in terms of building infrastructure in border areas.' 'In 2013, defence minister AK Antony told Parliament there would be no development in certain border regions. Today, we are building world-class infrastructure in the same areas,' he asserted. Rijiju unveiled a central package and announced indoor multi-sports stadium at Kalpa (foundation to be laid during visit), green grass turf at Gyabung (Kinnaur) costing of ₹ 4.80 crore, high-altitude skiing and winter sports training centre at Kaza (Lahaul-Spiti) with vocational training facilities, to be built at a cost of ₹ 73.77 crore and a special sewage management scheme for high-altitude villages in Lahaul. Terming the imposition of Emergency in 1975 as the 'murder of the Constitution', Rijiju said, 'It throttled the media and crushed individual and institutional freedoms. Even after 50 years, we must not forget the dangers of authoritarianism. That is why the Union Cabinet passed a resolution to remind people about what really happened. Shimla is symbolically important. Today, we observe 'Samvidhan Hatya Divas' from this historic city.'

UP will generate 20,000 MW of renewable energy by 2027: CM Adityanath

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday said that Uttar Pradesh will generate 20 ,000 megawatts of renewable energy by 2027. He said this after laying the foundation stone, along with Union minister Jitendra Singh, for a greenfield data centre at Sahibabad. According to an official statement, Adityanath expressed his pleasure at the new data centre being developed by Central Electronics Limited (CEL). "This is a strong step towards the Prime Minister Narendra Modi 's resolution of net zero emissions by 2070," he said. "By 2027, Uttar Pradesh will generate 20,000 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy, in which CEL's role will be prominent," he added. Adityanath hailed CEL's journey as a symbol of India's industrial resurgence and self-reliance, calling it a "major pillar of Prime Minister Modi's 2047 developed India vision". He emphasised, "Through institutions like CEL, new India is moving forward with its strength, technology, and confidence." The chief minister participated in a ceremonial puja and inaugurated an exhibition at the golden jubilee celebrations of CEL, the statement said. He also planted a sapling as part of the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign. Referring to Operation Sindoor, Adityanath said, "BrahMos and Akash missiles were recently used against Pakistan. We can say that the capabilities of both these missiles have been tested in Pakistan and trusted in the world." The chief minister linked CEL's growth to the changing landscape of Uttar Pradesh. He said that in the last eight years, Uttar Pradesh's economy has grown two-and-a-half times, six crore people have been lifted out of poverty, and investors are now enthusiastic about investing in the state. He noted, "In 2017, the state was struggling with the image of a 'BIMARU' state, but today it has moved towards becoming the growth engine of the country." He said that out of Rs 50 lakh crore investment proposals, Rs 15 lakh crore worth of investments have been linked to production through ground-breaking ceremonies. During the event, CEL presented a dividend check of approximately Rs 21 crore to the Central government, and an MoU was signed between CEL and Multi Infra for 200 megawatts of solar modules, the statement said. Adityanath described CEL's 50-year journey as a "success story", noting that the institution has now entered 'Amrit Kaal' and is playing a decisive role in realizing Prime Minister Modi's vision of a developed India. The chief minister said, "There was a time when CEL was put on the disinvestment list. But today, it has become a profit-making 'Mini Ratna' company. This transformation is an inspiration for Atmanirbhar Bharat ."
