Clayton County business owner rebuilding after smoke shop destroyed by fire
A Clayton County business owner is working to rebuild after her smoke shop was completely destroyed in an early morning fire on Friday.
Genese Chrispin says she received a call from Clayton County Fire around 1 a.m. notifying her of a fire at her CBD store located off State Highway 85 in Jonesboro. She said her business, along with a neighboring dry cleaners, was completely destroyed in the blaze.
'I haven't slept since one o'clock. I've been up for 24 hours since I got the call from Clayton County,' Chrispin said.
The fire caused significant damage to the roof, leading portions of it to collapse over both businesses. Chrispin estimates she lost over $150,000 worth of merchandise in the fire.

'All I was told by a Clayton County officer is that it was probably faulty equipment or something like that from the cleaners that started this,' Chrispin explained.
She said she had operated at that location for seven years and had never heard of any previous fires in the strip mall.
By Saturday afternoon, customers were still arriving at the site, unaware of what had happened.
'I was coming to pick up my dry cleaning,' one customer said.
Chrispin says it's still unclear whether her insurance or the strip mall owner's insurance will cover the damage. In the meantime, she is working to determine the next steps for her business and has launched a GoFundMe campaign to try to recover some of her losses.
Channel 2's Brittany Kleinpeter reached out to Clayton County Fire for an update on the investigation. As of Saturday afternoon, she was still awaiting a response.

Feds release footage of largest fentanyl bust in state history
The suspect in the largest fentanyl operation bust in Georgia history showed no emotion Wednesday as he entered the courtroom with shackles. Doorbell cameras captured tense moments as local and federal law enforcement agents descended on the home of suspected drug trafficker Bartholomew Harralson. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] It all went down Thursday just before sunrise in a quiet South Fulton subdivision. Investigators say Harralson, a convicted felon with a violent criminal history, was running a massive drug trafficking operation. Authorities say they seized more than $9 million in drugs, guns and cash from three different properties belonging to the suspect. On Wednesday, authorities said they also arrested Omari Thwaites, a convicted felon who was found with guns and drugs at Harralson's Hall County property. At Harralson's South Fulton home, some of his neighbors described him as quiet and friendly. But investigators say he made his poison at a third home. The DEA says he was in possession of enough fentanyl to kill every resident in Georgia, Florida, Alabama and Tennessee. His neighbors say they're stunned but thankful he's now behind bars. 'It makes it a better place to know there's not a dealer living right up the street from me,' said Jerry Adams, a neighbor. [SIGN UP: WSB-TV Daily Headlines Newsletter]

Four families of Sapelo Island dock collapse victims file lawsuit, alleging structure was unsafe
The families of the people who died when a gangway collapsed last fall on Georgia's Sapelo Island have filed a lawsuit in Gwinnett County against the companies that designed and built it. Channel 2's Berndt Petersen reports that the lawsuit suit alleges the structure was not safe. Regina Brinson, who was on the structure when it collapsed, calls it a bad dream, except it was all too real. 'And all of a sudden, I heard a crack. And I was like, 'Oh my God, what's happening?'' she said at a news conference Wednesday announcing the lawsuit. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] Brinson was in the middle of an 80-foot gangway that collapsed into the Duplin River on Sapelo Island last October. Twenty people went into the water. Seven people died. 'This tragedy was totally preventable,' civil rights and personal injury attorney Ben Crump said. He's representing four of the families. At Martin Luther King Park Jr. National Park in northeast Atlanta, he announced lawsuits against the bridge designers and builders. The lawsuit claims that although the gangway was only a few years old, it was not safe. While it was supposed to be able to hold a 100 pounds of weight per square foot, it couldn't support even one-third of that. The collapse that claimed seven lives and left others injured happened as hundreds gathered for the annual Cultural Day event honoring the Gullah-Geechee community. Brinson said she lost her uncle in the collapse, and though she tried to save him, she could only save herself. 'I said, 'Grab my hand.' He grabbed my hand, but he also grabbed (my shirt) and he kept pulling me and pulling me and pulling me under the water. And I said to myself under the water, I said, 'Oh my God, I'm getting ready to die.' Killed in the collapse were Jacqueline Crews Carter, 75, of Jacksonville; Cynthia Gibbs, 74, of Jacksonville; Charles L. Houston, 77, of Darien, Georgia; William Johnson, Jr., 73, of Atlanta; Carlotta McIntosh, 92, of Jacksonville; Isaiah Thomas, 79, Jacksonville; and Queen Welch, 76, Atlanta.
