PHILIPPE CLEMENT has rarely broken cover since being sacked as Rangers manager.
But he has recently had his say on Russell Martin's appointment as his replacement, and now the Belgian has opened up on his departure from the club earlier this year.

The 51-year-old lost his job after a 2-0 home defeat to St Mirren in February.
Rangers had also been knocked out of the Scottish Cup in shocking fashion to second-tier Queen's Park, and lost the League Cup final on penalties to Celtic in December.
And Clement has revealed that Hampden failure had set alarm bells ringing for him, telling BBC Scotland he felt pressure from inside and outside the club.
Clement said: "I had a feeling, a bad feeling, after the League Cup final.
"I think it was a vital game.
"If we had won, there would have been more patience with the fans also and the board could have stayed much calmer."
Clement also revealed that he didn't feel his sacking was warranted and that, given more time and resources, Gers could have improved under his leadership.
He said: "It's a pity that the story stopped, that the board didn't have the patience, or maybe listened too much to some fans.
"In three or four windows, we could have closed the gap [to Celtic] with a good development of players, but the decision is made and you need to accept it."
Clement had only lasted 18 months in his previous gig at Monaco, having had short stints with SK Beveren and Genk and a three-year stay at Club Brugge in his homeland before that.
Rangers fans react to news Russell Martin is their new manager
He continued: "There are other clubs where there is a difficult moment and everybody sticks together because everybody knows the story, how the work is done inside the building, and they continue and they are successful afterwards."

Richard King to join St Mirren with Jamaica ace lauded by Steve McClaren on the way to Paisley

The defender was linked with a move to Rangers last January St Mirren are set to pull off the signing coup of Jamaican international Richard King. The Buddies have agreed a fee with Cavalier and are looking to finalise the move in the coming days. ‌ It will see the highly-rated 23-year-old defender make the move to Paisley. ‌ King has previously been linked with Rangers and has attracted interest from Aston Villa, Newcastle United and West Ham United. St Mirren didn't think they could pull off the deal but thanks to director Jim Gillespie's worldwide contacts he has managed to put a deal in place. Gillespie has led the negotiations while manager Stephen Robinson has been on holiday in America. King has previously had exposure on loan to Icelandic club IBV. It is a move by the ambitious St Mirren board to build the club up and add more quality internationalists to their squad. Jamaican international Steve McClaren has already backed King to go all the way. He has previously tried to get him to England but now St Mirren have stolen a march. McClaren has tipped King for the very top. He said 'It is like Richard King who has got a lot of interest in Europe and the UK. ‌ 'I have been banging the drum so that he can step up to whatever level he is put in. 'At the moment, he needs to get off the island and play in a better competition. He has been excellent the last two games and when he came on against the USA. ‌ 'I have told every scout in England that they should take Richard King. He might not be for now but that boy will be because he plays to the level he is at. 'So if he comes to the UK and plays in League One or the Championship, if given time he would adapt to that. 'If I was at a football club I would take him because I believe he would be a real asset. 'He is quick and can play to the level. I just hope somebody takes a chance on him.' St Mirren have already signed Killian Phillips and Roland Idowu on permanent deals from Crystal Palace and Shrewsbury Town respectively following impressive loan spells last season.

The ex-Gers defender signed a three-year deal this week to take over in the dugout, with the red carpet rolled out for his first day in the building. 4 Russell Martin was unveiled as Rangers manager this week Credit: Willie Vass 4 He had a short spell playing at Ibrox Credit: Keith Campbell - The Sun Glasgow 4 He's revealed Paul Gascoigne was one of his footballing heroes Credit: Getty And now he's in the door supporters of the club are getting the chance to learn a bit more about him. Speaking to the club, the Englishman said that Paul Gascoigne was one of his footballing heroes. He said: "I know it will sound cliche but Gazza... I think all of us absolutely loved watching him. "When they were flying and he was flying during Euro '96, and what he was doing up here. "He was just an incredible player to watch." Martin was born in 1986 meaning Gascoigne was turning out for England from early childhood until he was around 12, with his Gers spell taking place in the last three of those years. The ex-Southampton gaffer was asked what three non-negotiable qualities are for players working under him ahead of his first season at the helm in Govan. He replied: "Courage. Intensity. And honesty. "I love watching a player or a group of players or a team start with something, an idea or way to improve, and seeing after the process what they're capable of achieving. "I absolutely love being able to watch and see something that I think is a problem for a player then help them find the solution, and then see them actually enjoying finding the solution. Rangers fans react to news Russell Martin is their new manager "When they do, that moment when it clicks is just the best." He's already discussed wanting the best out of the current squad as well as hinting that he knows areas which will need improved in the transfer window. He also revealed that his earliest memory of the sport was in Scotland, despite being born in Brighton. He said: "At the Ayr Youth Cup watching my big brother play up here. I think I was three or four. "I bought a plastic ball, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ball, and it got stolen outside my room in Butlins or Haven, whichever one it was. "I was devestated, but I got bought a new one the next day. 4 Gazza starred at Euro '96 for England when Martin was young Credit: News Group Newspapers Ltd "That's my earliest footballing memory. Just watching him play and playing on the side of the pitch." And having spoken openly about his managerial career being based on proving people wrong and never being first choice, he's said similar of his playing time too. When asked about the moment when he knew he'd made it, he responded: "Never. Even when I was playing my first game for Wycombe I was thinking 'I've played a professional game now, that'll be it, at least I've had one game'. "And I've never felt comfortable once throughout my career, so not at one point did I think I'd cracked it or I'd made it, and definitely before that I didn't think I could do it. "So I'm very grateful that I did!" He went on to make almost 600 club appearances, mostly for Wycombe and Norwich, and was capped 29 times for Scotland.
