James Foley dead: Director behind Fifty Shades & Netflix show dies aged 71 after cancer battle as family pay tribute
THE director of the Fifty Shades Of Grey franchise James Foley has died aged 71.
The American filmmaker, known for his work on Glengarry Glen Ross and Netflix series House of Cards, died after he was diagnosed with bran cancer last year.

A representative confirmed that Foley died peacefully in his sleep earlier this week.
The renowned director also worked on Fear and The Corrupter.
Foley was born on December 28, 1953 in Brooklyn.
His directorial debut was made in 1984 with Reckless, before the talented icon worked on a range of television shows, movies and pop music videos.
In 1986 he directed music videos for Madonna - including for the hit songs Papa Don't Preach, Live To Tell and True Blue.
But he is best known for his work on the erotic romance film series Fifty Shades.
He directed two out of three of the romance thriller film trilogy - Fifty Shades Darker (2017) and Fifty Shades Freed (2018).
Foley directed 12 episodes of hit Netflix show House Of Cards.
The filmmaker worked with Edward Burns, Dustin Hoffman and Rachel Weisz on the 2003 film Confidence.
The film follows Jake Vig, played by Burns, a grifter whose plan to avenge his friend's murder goes wrong - leaving him indebted to a mob boss.
He also directed the psychological thriller Perfect Stranger which stars Halle Berry as a journalist.
Her character goes undercover to investigate businessman Harrison Hill, played by Bruce Willis.
James Foley is survived by his brother, Kevin Foley, sisters Eileen and Jo Ann Foley, and his nephew Quinn Foley.

Scottie Scheffler emulates Tiger Woods with latest dominant win
World No 1 Scottie Scheffler emulated Tiger Woods by successfully defending the Memorial Tournament title at Muirfield Village. Only five-time winner Woods had previously retained the crown between 1999 and 2001, but Scheffler claimed a second consecutive success with a four-stroke victory over Ben Griffin. "Well, you did it again," tournament host Jack Nicklaus told him walking off the green. Scheffler has now won three times in four starts after wins at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson and PGA Championship. "It's pretty cool," Scheffler told CBS Sports after his 16th PGA Tour victory. "It's always a hard week as it's so challenging to play this tournament. "I battled really hard over the weekend and Ben made things interesting down the stretch, but overall it was a great week." Scheffler took a one-shot lead into Sunday and the chasing pack failed to put him under any concerted pressure. Birdies at the seventh, 11th and 15th gave Scheffler breathing space in a final round two-under par 70, with a solitary dropped shot coming at the 10th – his first bogey in 32 holes. Chickadee left behind her husband Eldridge Toney and two daughters - Kylee, nine, by her ex-husband Michael Cardwell, and Kaitlyn by a previous relationship. Before she died, Chickadee agreed that her mother would take Kaitlyn in - but this year June had to wage a legal battle over the issue against Michael, who wanted custody of both Kaitlyn and his biological daughter Kylee. June was determined to retain guardianship of Kaitlyn, saying: 'Anna wanted Kaitlyn to stay with her biological family, and I'm going to fight to my last breath till I don't have any more fight in me to make sure that is how it works.'
