Infrastructure gaps a hurdle for most govt schools in Gurgaon to get PM Shri tag
Gurgaon: Of 18 govt senior secondary schools in the district that applied for PM Shri status, 16 have failed to meet the mandatory infrastructure and compliance requirements. The deficiencies include a lack of a fire NOC, approved building plans, and essential facilities such as well-equipped libraries, science laboratories, and playgrounds. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The principals of these schools are now trying to obtain the necessary no-objection certificates (NOCs) from various departments to advance the process. The district education department has confirmed that only two schools have so far met the criteria set under the PM Shri (Prime Minister Schools for Rising India) scheme. Launched by the central govt in 2022, the PM Shri scheme aims to develop selected govt schools into model institutions with enhanced infrastructure, digital classrooms, and innovative learning practices. Once selected, these schools receive direct funding from the centre for infrastructure development and academic enhancement. Currently, only 8 out of 130 govt schools in the district have been granted PM Shri status. These schools are spread across the blocks of Gurgaon, Sohna, Farrukhnagar, and Pataudi—two in each block. Three of these schools are affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). According to the education department, the following 18 senior secondary govt schools have submitted applications: Kasan Girls Senior Secondary School, Bas Hariya Senior Secondary School, Jatauli Senior Secondary School, Kasan Boys Senior Secondary School, Model Sanskriti School, Farrukhnagar, Kankrola Senior Secondary School, Haily Mandi Girls School, among others. The department emphasised that only schools that meet all the necessary standards will be upgraded under the scheme. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Also, a district-level committee comprising the district project coordinator, assistant project coordinator, district education officer, and elementary education officer has been formed to assess the applications. Assistant project coordinator Satya Narayan Yadav confirmed that inspections are underway, and schools found lacking have been given time to rectify issues.

DU to open UG admission registration this week under CSAS: Here's what students need to know
Delhi University is all set to kick off the first phase of its undergraduate admission process this week under the Common Seat Allocation System ( CSAS ), following the declaration of CBSE Class 12 results and the conclusion of CUET-UG 2025 . Admissions to all UG courses this year will be strictly based on CUET-UG 2025 scores. In this initial phase, applicants will be required to register on DU's official portal by submitting their basic personal and academic information, uploading documents such as category, EWS or PwD certificates , and verifying their CUET scores, which will be auto-linked to their profiles. Candidates must log in using their CUET roll numbers, after which the system will auto-populate their exam scores. However, they are responsible for checking the accuracy of all data before moving on to the next stages, which include course and college selection in later rounds. To assist students during this stage, the university has also launched a dedicated helpline. Queries can be addressed via email at ug@ or by calling 011-27666073. Correction window open for PG and BTech applicants While UG admissions begin, DU has also opened a correction window for those who applied for PG and BTech courses by June 9. From June 10 (10 am) to June 12 (11:59 pm), registered candidates can make one-time edits to their application forms. However, category changes will not be allowed, and once the profile is locked, no further changes can be made. Live Events As of 7 pm on Monday, 62,853 unique PG applicants had registered across 83 programmes, generating 67,516 programme-wise applications. BTech registrations stood at 5,870. By Tuesday, PG registrations had risen to 63,387, with 69,317 total applications, and 6,015 candidates had registered for BTech courses. DU's PG admissions will be based solely on CUET-PG 2025 performance, while BTech admissions will rely on the common rank list of JEE (Main) 2025. All applicants must have appeared in the respective entrance exams and meet DU's eligibility criteria.
