Kamal Haasan lost his cool when a man presented him with a sword, and urged him to pose with it at a political meeting held by Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) in Chennai.
During a political meeting held by Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, party chief and actor Kamal Haasan sternly rebuked a man who tried to present him with a sword on stage. The party meeting in Chennai took place, just days after Haasan's unopposed election to the Rajya Sabha from Tamil Nadu. Kamal Haasan lost his cool at the man who urged him to pose with the sword, and a cop intervened and brought the situation under control.
Kamal Haasan on stage for photographs during the public event, and one individual tried to persuade him to pose with a sword. Initially, Haasan smiled and shook his head as he held the sheathed sword. However, when the person continued to insist and tried to untie the knot securing the sword, Haasan lost his cool, and angrily instructed the man to put the sword down. Haasan, visibly irritated, sharply addressed the individual and his companions. Meanwhile, a police officer quickly intervened, securing the sword. Despite the tension, Haasan eventually gestured for the group to move along and managed a brief smile before continuing the event. The video clip has been shared by PTI on X (formerly Twitter).

The video sparked online discussions, with many commending Haasan for upholding his principles. While one netizen commented, 'You should mention why #KamalHaasan got angry for the sword gift. Also, you should have mention that what he told to his party member. He said, 'we can keep book and pen on our hand not sword". He could have taken a photo raising the sword like others. He didn't. Good politician", another netizen wrote, 'He remains with his principle always, sword should be down, pen with book should be in hand."
Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan was recently at the centre of a controversy in Karnataka over his comment on the Kannada language. A few days ago, at the audio launch of his film Thug Life, Haasan stated that Kannada originated from Tamil, triggering outrage across Karnataka.
Addressing the crowd at the event in Chennai, Kamal began his speech with, 'Uyire Urave Tamizhe," which translates to 'my life and my family is Tamil language." He then turned to Shivarajkumar, a Kannada actor present at the event. Haasan said, 'This is my family. That's why he (Shivarajkumar) has come here. That's why I began my speech saying life, relationship and Tamil. Your language (Kannada) was born out of Tamil, so you too are included," said Haasan.

Israel-Iran Tensions: Puri says India has adequate energy supplies
'India's energy strategy is shaped by successfully navigating the trilemma of energy availability, affordability and sustainability,' he said. 'We have adequate energy supplies for the coming months.' Global oil prices have jumped to their highest level since January after Israel struck Iran, in a dramatic escalation of tensions in the Middle East. In a post on X, the minister said he held a periodic review of energy availability scenario with the captains of the Indian oil industry. New Delhi, Jun 13 (PTI) India, the world's third-largest oil importer and fourth biggest gas buyer, has enough energy supplies for the coming months, Oil Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said amid escalating tensions in the globe's biggest energy supply regions. The rate of the benchmark Brent crude was up by more than 10 per cent shortly after the news emerged, but eased a little. Brent was trading close to USD 75 a barrel, up more than 5 per cent over Thursday's close. India imports more than 85 per cent of its crude oil needs and roughly half of its natural gas requirement. More than 40 per cent of the oil imports and half of the gas imports come from the Middle East. Despite the spike on Friday, oil prices are still more than 10 per cent lower than where they were at the same point last year. They are also well below over USD 100 a barrel rate seen in early 2022 following Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Russia is India's largest supplier of crude oil, which is refined into fuels like petrol and diesel in refineries. Qatar is India's biggest supplier of natural gas, which is used to make fertilisers, generate electricity and turned into CNG to run automobiles and piped to household kitchens for cooking. While shrapnel reportedly landed in the chemical terminal and some projectiles struck the refinery, no injuries were reported. The Adani-controlled section of the port remained unaffected. A piece of interceptor shrapnel was also found at Kishan West within Haifa Port, but operations continued normally. 'There's eight ships in the port now, cargo operations are normal,' the report added. Operation Rising Lion On 13 June, Israel launched Operation Rising Lion, a pre-emptive strike on Iran targeting its nuclear infrastructure. Explosions were reported in Tehran and other areas. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated, 'Israel launched Operation Rising Lion to roll back the Iranian threat to our very survival. This operation will continue for as many days as it takes to remove this threat.' High-ranking Iranian officials, including Chief of Staff General Mohammad Bagheri, IRGC Commander General Hossein Salami, and Iran's Emergency Command head, were reportedly killed in the strikes. In response, Iran launched over 100 drones towards Israel and a new wave of missile attacks early Saturday, targeting Israel's northern region and the Golan Heights. Air-raid sirens were activated and civilians were advised to take shelter.
