were slapped with a collective fine of Rs 3 lakh for not meeting standards after a surprise inspection on Saturday. The caterers have also been warned against any overcharging.
Earlier on Friday, a collective fine of Rs 5 lakh was imposed on 18 catering stalls at Prayagraj Junction for not complying with the standards.
On Saturday, the inspection was led by senior divisional commercial manager/coaching, Prayagraj Division, Himanshu Shukla. "During my visit to the Chheoki station, I personally reviewed the functioning of the paid waiting hall and passengers found the services to be satisfactory. The facility was clean and organised," said Shukla.
"Although at the stalls, we imposed a fine because we have approved 30 items to be made available across the stalls. They should offer at least 10 varieties for better options. Additionally, I have emphasised that there must be no overcharging under any circumstances, and vendors have been strictly warned against this practice," he said.

Earlier, on Friday, an intensive inspection was carried out at Prayagraj Junction to inspect if food stalls are adhering to quality and hygiene standards.

Offering those living near forests, rivers, hills, lakes, or heritage sites of Chhattisgarh grants to upgrade their homes, training them on how to host guests and making registration of homestays simpler – these are among the major incentives that the state's Vishnu Deo Sai Cabinet has approved as part of its new homestay policy. Cleared by the Vishnu Deo Sai cabinet Wednesday, the policy aims at boosting tourism in Chhattisgarh. 'The policy aims to promote tourism in villages, particularly in remote areas of Bastar and Sarguja. It will offer tourists a unique experience of local culture, art, crafts, and nature while directly benefiting rural residents by increasing their income,' an official said. Under this scheme, those living in villages can offer some rooms 'not only to help tourists experience the beauty and culture of rural Chhattisgarh but also provide a good earning opportunity to local families'. A grant of up to Rs 10 lakh will be provided to help upgrade homes into homestays. Those running homestays will also receive training from the government to learn how to host guests. The scheme also proposes making registration and licencing simpler and relaxing taxation and regulation rules. 'This policy is especially designed to empower women and youth, helping them become self-reliant. Moreover, it will help spread the culture, food, language, and traditional lifestyle of Chhattisgarh to people across the country and even abroad,' an official said. In addition, the Cabinet also gave its nod to the Chhattisgarh Kifayati Jan Awas Niyam-2025 – an affordable housing scheme that aims to provide plots in cities to lower and middle-class families. Court Allows Kejriwal Plea For No Objection Certificate For Passport Renewal
New Delhi: A Delhi court on Wednesday allowed the plea of former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal seeking a no objection certificate for the renewal of his passport. On May 28, Kejriwal told the court his passport expired in 2018, and he was seeking renewal for 10 years. The court of special judge Dig Vinay Singh, allowing the plea, said that the court had "no objection" if Kejriwal's passport was renewed for 10 years as per rules. The judge, however, made it clear that this order of the court shall not in any manner "fetter the discretion of the passport authorities" in granting or refusing the renewal of the passport under the Indian Passports Act and the relevant rules. Observing that the "no objection" granted through this order shall remain in force for a period of three months within which Kejriwal may get his passport renewed, the court said, "It goes without saying that the present order is not granting any permission to the applicant to travel abroad, and if he ever desires to travel abroad for any purpose, he shall have to file an appropriate application seeking such permission. " The court on May 29 issued notices to ED and CBI, directing them to file their responses by June 4. CBI opposed the plea by the former CM by filing a formal reply. ED did not file any formal reply but made only oral submissions to the effect that the renewal of the passport should not be granted for a complete 10 years. The court noted that at present, Kejriwal is not seeking any permission to travel abroad, obviously as he may not be planning to travel abroad in the immediate near future, but that too cannot come in the way of granting permission to the applicant for renewal of the passport for a complete 10 years. After all, the bail conditions already prescribe that the applicant shall not travel abroad without formal permission of the court, the judge said.
