Teacher spreads fake story of sexual assault on student

Thiruvananthapuram: Kilimanoor police registered a Pocso case against a woman teacher on Friday for spreading a fake sexual assault story against a female Plus One student at Madavoor. Following the incident, the school management suspended 42-year-old teacher, after finding her allegations baseless. She had cooked up a story of a 35-year-old male teacher sexually assaulting the student in the school and impregnating her. Police said the accused teacher committed the crime to throw her male colleague out of the school so that she could be part of the school management. "There were some issues between the accused and her colleague over school management's powers. The accused and her husband, who is also a teacher at the school, wanted to be a part of the management and the male teacher was against it. By cooking up the story, she wanted to shunt him out," said police. The accused shared the defamatory story in the school WhatsApp groups and also aired a video about it on a YouTube channel, with images of the girl and her alleged 'tormentor'. The girl was absent from school for a few days for medical reasons. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 夢の農場を作り上げよう アドベンチャーゲーム ゲームをプレイ Undo When she returned after treatment, she couldn't attend classes due to humiliation from other students. General education minister V Sivankutty promised a transparent probe into the incident and asked deputy director of education to submit a report within seven days. "Levelling such fake allegations is a grave offence and it is even more serious when it is against a girl. The culprits will be aptly punished," said Sivankutty. The girl's parents have submitted complaints to the chief minister's office, child welfare committee and SC/ST commission. In Jan this year, a lab attendance book went missing and a lab assistant was suspended for it. The two teachers had quarrelled with each other over the incident. The girl's parents alleged that the accused teacher had raised similar allegations against her colleague last year too. Bengaluru stampede: RCB official, 3 others sent to judicial custody

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], June 6 (ANI): A Sessions Court in Bengaluru on Friday remanded four individuals, including senior Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) official Nikhil Sosale and three event managers, to 14 days of judicial custody in connection with the stampede outside M. Chinnaswamy Stadium here. They were arrested in a joint operation by the Cubbon Park Police and the Central Crime Branch (CCB) at Kempegowda International Airport in the early hours of June 6 (Friday). Meanwhile, the Karnataka High Court on Friday granted interim relief to the office bearers of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), who had approached the court seeking the quashing of the FIR registered against them in connection with the stampede, which claimed the lives of 11 people. In an interim order, the court directed the state police to not take any coercive action against them until further orders. The High Court adjourned the case to June 9. KSCA President Raghu Ram Bhat, Secretary A Shankar, Treasurer ES Jairam, and other KSCA office bearers moved the High Court seeking to quash the FIR. Nikhil Sosale had also approached the High Court challenging his arrest. He claimed that he was arrested without any materials and even before the police had conducted a preliminary enquiry. He has thus sought to declare his arrest illegal. On Thursday, the Bengaluru police registered an FIR against the RCB franchise, DNA Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., an event management company; and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) for culpable homicide, illegal assembly, and other serious charges. A day after the stampede that claimed the lives 11 people, the Karnataka police suspended multiple IPS officers, including the Bengaluru city police Commissioner, B Dayananda. Apart from Dayananda, Additional Commissioner of Police Vikash Kumar Vikash, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Shekhar HT, Assistant Commissioner of Police Balakrishna and Cubbon Park Police Inspector Girish AK were also suspended with immediate effect. Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for politicising the recent stampede. His remarks came after the BJP accused the Congress-led state government of making the police a 'scapegoat' in the incident. CM Siddaramaiah said the state government has already taken action against officials who were found to be 'visibly responsible' and 'negligent in their duty.' 'They are doing it for politics. I don't do politics. We have taken action against those who were visibly responsible and found to be negligent in their duty,' the Chief Minister said here. (ANI)

3 sentenced to life in jail for gang-raping minor

Meerut: A POCSO court in Sambhal district sentenced three men to life imprisonment for gang raping a 16-year-old girl on Jan 23, 2023. ADGC Narendra Yadav said that the victim's family was working in their field at the time of the incident. "Around noon, a man approached the minor and lured her to a secluded spot where two of his accomplices were already present. The trio, all in their 20s and residents, took turns to rape her. They also threatened to kill her if she told anyone," he said. The victim managed to escape and narrated her ordeal to her family, who then filed a police complaint. Based on their statement, police registered a case under IPC section 376D ( gang rape ), 506 (criminal intimidation), and section 5/6 of the POCSO Act, and conducted an investigation. During the trial, the defence argued that the medical examination did not reveal any injury marks on the victim's private parts or body, and therefore, sexual assault could not have occurred. However, the court said that the absence of injury to the rape victim does not lead to the conclusion that the accused did not commit forcible sexual intercourse. The court further held that even without external injuries, the oral testimony of prosecutrix—that she was subjected to rape—cannot be disregarded. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Participate in Arthritis Clinical Trials from Home Clinical Trials from Home | Search Ads Undo Based on evidence presented in the court and the chargesheet filed by the police, Additional District and Sessions Judge/Special Judge POCSO Act Awadhesh Kumar Singh sentenced the three men to life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 50,000 each.
