
ICC hosts another glorious edition of ‘ICC Wednesday Fiesta'

The Indian Cultural Centre (ICC), under the aegis of the Embassy of India in Qatar, successfully hosted another vibrant edition of its weekly cultural series, 'ICC Wednesday Fiesta', on Wednesday, April 30, at the ICC Ashoka Hall. The event once again reaffirmed ICC's commitment to promoting and preserving the rich tapestry of Indian arts and culture within the Indian expatriate community in Qatar.
Graced by a large gathering of dignitaries, ICC Managing Committee members, affiliated organisation representatives, and cultural enthusiasts, the evening was a celebration of unity in diversity, featuring dazzling performances by artistes from various ICC-affiliated organisations (AOs) and reputed arts centres in Qatar. From classical dance to contemporary folk, the stage came alive with vibrant displays of India's cultural heritage.
The programme began with a warm welcome extended by ICC Head of HR, Admin & Consular, Rakesh Wagh, who greeted the attendees and invited them to immerse in the spirit of cultural camaraderie. This was followed by insightful opening remarks from Nandini Abbagouni, ICC Head of Cultural Activities, who emphasised the importance of such weekly platforms in nurturing talent and fostering intercultural dialogue among the Indian diaspora.
Delivering the presidential address, ICC President AP Manikantan reflected on ICC's evolving role as a hub of cultural excellence and community engagement. A highlight of the evening was the soft launch of ICC's new logo, symbolising the Centre's refreshed identity and forward-looking vision, while still deeply rooted in Indian values and traditions.
In a special felicitation ceremony, Sandesh Anand, President of Tulu Koota Qatar, and Sudha Sriramoju, President of Telangana Jagruthi–Qatar Chapter, were honoured by ICC for their unwavering dedication and outstanding contributions to the Indian community in Qatar. Their leadership and active engagement in cultural and social initiatives have significantly enriched the community fabric.
The formal proceedings concluded with a gracious vote of thanks delivered by Sandeep Reddy, ICC Head of IT & Media, acknowledging the efforts of performers, volunteers, organisers, and supporters. The event was smoothly compered by the ever-energetic Niyati, whose charm and professionalism added to the evening's appeal.
The event witnessed the esteemed presence of ICC Vice President Shantanu Deshpande, General Secretary Abraham K Joseph, along with other members of the ICC Managing Committee, presidents and representatives of various ICC-affiliated organisations, and several senior community members, all lending their support to this inspiring cultural initiative.
'ICC Wednesday Fiesta' continues to be a testament to ICC's enduring mission of fostering artistic expression, community unity, and cultural pride among the Indian diaspora in Qatar.

Khalid Al Suwaidi tops Future Champions' class
Tribune News Network Doha Khalid Jassim Al Suwaidi delivered a flawless performance aboard Isis du Genet to win the Future Champions 105/110cm class, stealing the spotlight on the opening day of the third and final round of the Al Shaqab National Showjumping League on Thursday. Competing at Al Shaqab's Longines Indoor Arena, Al Suwaidi impressed in the jump-off, clocking 26.36 seconds to secure first place. Mohammed Hamza Al Kuwari, riding Carte Blanche, followed with a time of 29.17 seconds to take second. Al Shaqab League Event Director Khalid Al Nuami honoured the podium winners. Hadi Mansour Al Shahwani, on Monopoly, posted a competitive 26.53 seconds in the jump-off to claim third place. Faisal Mohammed Al Naimi (riding Dilandra), Mohammed Faisal Al Marri (Dusty), and Yousuf Abdulrahman Al Muftah (Senna Lafont) rounded out the top six in the event. Meanwhile, Alya Hamad Jassim Al Thani partnered with Geale to claim victory in the Intro 80cm class, delivering a flawless round in 53.02 seconds. Just behind her, Melina Karagiannidi and Cascade Sammy secured second place with a near-identical time of 53.04 seconds. Adel Abdel Raziq completed the podium after an impressive ride on Phoenix. Raziq was followed by Salman Faisal Al Marri, Maryam Ahmed Mohamood Erbad and Jassim Saoud Al Fakhroo, rounding out the top six. Al Shaqab League Manager Khalid Al Nuami presented the awards to the leading riders. Earlier in the day, Tamim Misfer Alqahtani, riding Carnelian, triumphed in the Intro 40cm class with a clean round in 48.77 seconds. Aisha Sultan Al Enazi, aboard Tinkerbell, took second with a time of 49.97 seconds, while Maryam Abdulazeem Al Abdulwahab on Pedro finished third. Mohammed Ahmad Al Sulaiti, Ameena Hassan Al Thawadi, and Noora Yousif Al Kuwari completed the top six standings. Legacy and Heritage Specialist Commercial at Al Shaqab Ahmed Khaled Al Hemaidi honoured the riders during the prize ceremony. On Friday, the second day's action will feature the Amateur Class (90/100cm) and Youth Champions (125/130cm) Shaqab Showjumping League

UDST holds film fest to mark Global Accessibility Awareness Day
