Rhenus Group Strengthens LATAM Region as Blu Logistics Rebrands to Rhenus Logistics

The Sun24-04-2025

MUMBAI, INDIA - Media OutReach Newswire - 24 April 2025 - The Rhenus Group, a global logistics solutions provider, has announced the official rebranding of Blu Logistics LATAM to Rhenus Logistics, following its acquisition in 2023. The rebranding will enhance the Group's footprint and operational integration across Latin America, as BLU Logistics LATAM will now commercially operate under the Rhenus Logistics name in Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Paraguay, and Uruguay. This transition complements and strengthens Rhenus existing operations in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and Mexico, while further expanding its service portfolio with a focus on Air & Ocean and warehousing solutions. The unified brand identity of the two family-owned companies will offer customers greater consistency, connectivity and access to the Groups global standards, capabilities, and service portfolio. Rhenus' expertise in supporting the India-LATAM trade lane will also play a pivotal role in this milestone.
The rebrand comes amid a period of significant growth across the region. In 2024, the combined operations of Rhenus Logistics LATAM and BLU Logistics LATAM handled over 210,000 TEUs in full container load (FCL) shipments, a 16.67% increase compared to the 180,000 TEUs managed by BLU Logistics LATAM alone in 2023. As a result of its strong positioning and ranking in ocean freight, particularly on the Far East Asia to LATAM trade lane, Rhenus Logistics is recognized as a leading freight forwarder in the region. To continue supporting customer and market demands, the company has expanded its regional footprint with new office openings. Most recently, in March, Rhenus Brazil inaugurated a new branch in Belo Horizonte, strengthening its presence in key logistics hubs throughout the country. LATAM's growing relevance in global trade is evident through increasing cargo volumes from Asia, India, Europe, and the United States.
'For the Rhenus Group, this rebranding marks a new era in Latin America and reinforces our long-term commitment to the region,' said Tobias Bartz, CEO of the Rhenus Group. 'It reflects both our local success and our global ambition. We've seen remarkable growth and continue to identify strong opportunities across the region. This rebranding connects the shared identity of two family-owned companies unifying as one. It strengthens our footprint in Latin America and offers our customers greater efficiency, visibility, and the opportunity to grow their business with us, now fully integrated into our global network, portfolio of services and capabilities.'
As India strengthens its role as a global manufacturing and export hub, and Latin America continues to thrive as a source of agriculture, energy and raw materials, trade potential between the regions is accelerating. The India–Latin America trade lane is evolving rapidly, driven by growing demand and sectoral synergies, highlighting the strategic relevance of the company's expanded presence in Latin America to support key trade flows with India.
'The ongoing collaboration through BRICS — with Brazil and India cooperating — and several free trade agreements between India and various Latin American countries are playing a pivotal role in strengthening this partnership,' said Bhaswar Arya, Joint Managing Director of Rhenus India. 'These frameworks are enhancing bilateral engagement, easing market access and creating fertile ground for deeper economic cooperation. We see immense potential across diverse sectors such as pharmaceuticals, automotive, agro-commodities, textiles and technology. Moreover, improved ocean and air connectivity, alongside policy-driven efforts from both regions, is accelerating the momentum of trade.'
With deep roots in both regions and a growing network of integrated services, Rhenus is uniquely positioned to support customers across key India–Latin America trade corridors. As the company continues to expand its global footprint, it remains focused on delivering efficient, customer-centric solutions that unlock new value and drive long-term growth across continents.

India, China to ‘expedite' resumption of direct flights

Flights between China and India were initially halted after the Covid-19 pandemic. (EPA Images pic) NEW DELHI : India said today it had agreed with neighbouring China to 'expedite' the process to resume direct flights between them in a sign of further improvement in ties, although no timeline was given. Flights were halted after the Covid-19 pandemic and a subsequent deadly clash in 2020 between their troops on the Himalayan border. 'The two sides agreed to expedite steps involved in resuming direct air services,' New Delhi's foreign ministry said in a statement. It came a day after the country's top career diplomat Vikram Misri met Chinese vice-foreign minister Sun Weidong in India. In Beijing, foreign ministry spokesman Lin Jian said China had 'a positive attitude' towards resuming flights after five years. 'Resuming direct flights between China and India is conducive to personnel exchanges and cooperation between the two sides and is in the common interests of both sides,' Lin told a regular press conference in Beijing. New Delhi and Beijing first announced in January an in-principle agreement to restart flights. The neighbours also agreed to take 'practical steps for visa facilitation and exchanges between media and think tanks', the ministry's statement added. About 500 monthly direct flights operated between China and India before the pandemic, according to Indian media outlet Moneycontrol. There are already regular flights between India and Hong Kong. India and China are intense rivals competing for influence across South Asia. At least 20 Indian and four Chinese soldiers were killed in the 2020 skirmish in a remote stretch along their 3,500km high-altitude frontier. India then moved closer to the US-led Quad alliance – which also includes Japan and Australia – which seeks to counter China's growing influence in the Asia-Pacific region. New Delhi also clamped down on Chinese companies, preventing them from investing in critical economic sectors, along with a ban on hundreds of Chinese gaming and e-commerce apps, including TikTok. Mutual distrust remains. But they agreed to pull back troops posted at a key flashpoint along the disputed border in October, shortly before a rare formal meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping. Later this month, China is expected to allow Indian pilgrims to trek to Mount Kailash in Tibet, a site holy to Hindus and Buddhists. Indians have not been allowed to take part in the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra pilgrimage since it was also stopped in 2020.

Foxconn sends 97pc of India-made iPhones to US as Apple navigates China trade barriers

Foxconn shipped iPhones from India worth US$3.2 billion (RM13.5 billion) in March-May Nearly all the India exports went to the US Foxconn's India iPhone shipments to US worth US$4.4 billion Jan-May vs US$3.7 billion for whole of 2024 Trump has criticised Apple over India production NEW DELHI, June 13 — Nearly all the iPhones exported by Foxconn from India went to the United States between March and May, customs data showed, far above the 2024 average of 50 per cent and a clear sign of Apple's efforts to bypass high US tariffs imposed on China. The numbers, being reported by Reuters for the first time, show Apple has realigned its India exports to almost exclusively serve the US market, when previously the devices were more widely distributed to countries including the Netherlands, the Czech Republic and Britain. During March-May, Foxconn exported iPhones worth US$3.2 billion from India, with an average 97 per cent shipped to the United States, compared to a 2024 average of 50.3 per cent, according to commercially available customs data seen by Reuters. India iPhone shipments by Foxconn to the United States in May 2025 were worth nearly US$1 billion, the second-highest ever after the record US$1.3 billion worth of devices shipped in March, the data showed. Apple declined to comment, while Foxconn did not respond to a Reuters request for comment. US President Donald Trump on Wednesday said China will face 55 per cent tariffs after the two countries agreed on a plan, subject to both leaders' approval, to ease levies that had reached triple digits. India is subject, like most U.S trading partners, to a baseline 10 per cent tariff and is trying to negotiate an agreement to avert a 26 per cent 'reciprocal' levy that Trump announced and then paused in April. Apple's increased production in India drew a strong rebuke from Trump in May. 'We are not interested in you building in India, India can take care of themselves, they are doing very well, we want you to build here,' Trump recalled telling CEO Tim Cook. In the first five months of this year, Foxconn has already sent iPhones worth US$4.4 billion to the US from India, compared to US$3.7 billion in the whole of 2024. Apple has been taking steps to speed up production from India to bypass tariffs, which would make phones shipped from China to the US much more expensive. In March, it chartered planes to transport iPhone 13, 14, 16 and 16e models worth roughly US$2 billion to the United States. Apple has also lobbied Indian airport authorities to cut the time needed to clear customs at Chennai airport in the southern state of Tamil Nadu from 30 hours to six hours, Reuters has reported. The airport is a key hub for iPhone exports. 'We expect made-in-India iPhones to account for 25 per cent to 30 per cent of global iPhone shipments in 2025, as compared to 18 per cent in 2024,' said Prachir Singh, senior analyst at Counterpoint Research. Tata Electronics, the other smaller Apple iPhone supplier in India, on average shipped nearly 86 per cent of its iPhone production to the US during March and April, customs data showed. Its May data was not available. The company, part of India's Tata Group, started exporting iPhones only in July 2024, and only 52 per cent of its shipments went to US during 2024, the data showed. Tata declined to comment on the numbers. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has in recent years promoted India as a smartphone manufacturing hub, but high duties on importing mobile phone components compared to many other countries means it is still expensive to produce the devices in India. Apple has historically sold more than 60 million iPhones in the US each year, with roughly 80 per cent made in China. — Reuters

According to Jooyeon Lee, Head of Asia-Pacific (APAC) at Xsolla, the Buy Button allows mobile game developers to integrate their web shops and custom payment pages directly, bypassing traditional app market fees and improving profitability for US-based players."Mobile game companies are highly interested in reducing app store fees and engaging directly with their users. 'Whether it's a custom-built web shop or a third-party payment page, our partners have the freedom to decide,' said Lee. If developers are hesitant to adopt third-party payments directly, they can also use the feature to promote their web shops,' Lee explained. 'It's a low-barrier way to localize payments for developers targeting global markets.'She added that adoption is rising even in traditionally conservative markets like Japan. 'Japanese developers have been cautious about changing payment methods, but those who partnered with us have expressed high satisfaction,' said Lee. "We expect strong growth from our Japanese partners this year. Word of mouth about Xsolla is spreading in Japan and India, increasing new deals. An official announcement will follow soon."Lee also emphasized that Xsolla's value proposition extends beyond fee reduction. "Developers are also satisfied with our tax management and fraud prevention capabilities. Even those initially selected other payment providers are increasingly switching to Xsolla."As for developer support, Xsolla continues to invest in initiatives for indie developers. 'Our solutions are designed with global indie studios in mind. We're actively participating in events like PlayX4 and BIC, and we're expanding promotional channels to support international exposure,' she closing, Lee remarked, 'Xsolla is ready to partner with any game developer focused on global expansion and profitability.
