Nets' Jordi Fernandez to represent team at 2025 NBA Draft Lottery
The Brooklyn Nets are just a few days away from the fate of the franchise being decided by where the ping-pong balls fall during the 2025 NBA Draft Lottery on Monday. During the event, teams normally send someone to represent their organization and in Brooklyn's case, they will be sending the man that will be coaching the player that the team takes with their Lottery pick.
The Nets announced on X that head coach Jordi Fernandez will be representing the franchise at the NBA Draft Lottery, implying that the franchise is hoping that he can bring the team luck in the event. Brooklyn heads into the Lottery sixth in the standings, but their pick could be somewhere different depending on the kind of luck that they get on Monday.

Heading into the Lottery, the Nets have a 9.0% chance of getting the first overall pick, granting them the ability to select Duke forward Cooper Flagg to give the team their first franchise player during this rebuild. More to the point, Brooklyn has a 37.2% chance of their pick landing in the top-4, meaning that they have a good chance of moving up from the sixth spot based on the odds.
As of this writing, the Nets are able to land picks 1-4 and 6-10 so the worst pick they can get is 10th, which would be a disappointment for a team that was hoping to be able to draft a blue-chip prospect in this Draft. In terms of percentages, the most likely outcome for Brooklyn is getting a top-4 pick, followed by a 29.7% chance of landing the seventh overall pick and a 20.6% chance of getting the eighth pick.
Technically, the most likely event to happen for the Nets is to get a pick somewhere between No. 7 and No. 8, given that the combined percentages of that happening is 50.3%. Either way, with Brooklyn hoping that they can get the highest pick possible, the franchise is looking for Fernandez to give the team the kind of luck that it hasn't had in quite some time since moving from New Jersey.

Montas and Manaea to make rehab starts this weekend as they near return to Mets
NEW YORK (AP) — Frankie Montas and Sean Manaea will make minor league rehab appearances this weekend and both could join the New York Mets' rotation in the coming weeks. Montas will make a fifth rehab start Friday and Manaea will take the mound two days later for his third, manager Carlos Mendoza said Wednesday. Mendoza said he isn't worried about how to sort out seven pitchers for five rotation slots when Montas and Manaea both get back. 'Usually it plays itself out,' Mendoza said. 'We still are at least two weeks away from making those decisions and I'm hoping that by the time we get there it is going to be a difficult decision. That means everyone's healthy. That means everybody continues to throw the ball well and we have some good problems.' Montas strained a lat muscle early in spring training and made his first minor league appearance on May 24. The 32-year-old right-hander has a 9.00 ERA in two games each for Class-A Brooklyn and Triple-A Syracuse, striking out nine and walking eight in 12 innings. After his next outing for Syracuse, he could make his Mets debut. 'Let's get through this one on Friday and then we'll see where we're at,' Mendoza said. 'This is kind of like spring training for him and hitters now are like midseason form. And it's hard to put too much into it where, you're not game-planning, you're just going out there, which I think we've got to do a better job of that, in preparing him and giving him a little bit of an idea.' Manaea arrived at spring training with a strained right oblique and the 33-year-old left-hander made his first rehab appearance on June 6. He has a 6.23 ERA in two outings and 4 1/3 innings with Brooklyn, and Mendoza didn't specify where Manaea will make his next appearance. New York entered Wednesday with the best record in the National League at 43-24, leading the NL East by 4 1/2 games. Clay Holmes, David Peterson, Kodai Senga, Tylor Megill and Griffin Canning have combined to make 63 of 67 starts for a rotation that began the day with a big league-best 2.91 ERA. ___

What would the Nets have to trade the Raptors to get No. 9 pick?
What would the Nets have to trade the Raptors to get No. 9 pick? The Brooklyn Nets have five picks to use in the upcoming 2025 NBA Draft that begins on June 25 and ends on June 26 after the end of the second round. Brooklyn could stand put and use all of their picks to bring in a significant infusion of young talent, but what if they wanted to get creative with the amounts of assets they have in this Draft and beyond? NetsDaily reported earlier in June that the Nets "may want to move up from #19 to the lottery, offering CamJ and #19 to Raptors or Rockets for either Raps 9th or Rockets 10th plus a bad contract." Based off this reporting, it has been interesting to see what kind of packages Brooklyn could come up with to entire the Toronto Raptors to give up the ninth overall pick in the Draft, especially since they're still rebuilding. "That would give Nets two picks in top 10 (presupposing neither team would need picks for Giannis trade)," NetsDaily's post on X continued. Assuming that Brooklyn would be willing to use their second first-round pick (No. 19) to get a second pick in the Lottery, Toronto seems like one of the teams that could be convinced to move back given the state of their roster. So far, the reporting indicates that the start of the trade offer would be forward Cam Johnson and the 19th overall pick going to the Raptors in exchange for the ninth overall pick and a player on "a bad contract" as NetsDaily puts it. Assuming that the trade is just a 1-for-1 swap in terms of assets switching sides, the Nets could go after guard Immanuel Quickley or forward RJ Barrett with both players making similar money to Johnson next season. However, according to Fanspo, if the Nets were to acquire Barrett, that deal would work financially. More to the point, if the Nets wanted to go after Quickley, they would have to add more salary than just Johnson and that could come down to Brooklyn potentially re-signing one of their own free-agents to a deal that allows to make the deal work if added. Plenty can happen between now and when the Draft begins.
