Just like our children, sometimes our fur babies cry or act out for attention. Even if there's nothing wrong with them, they use their cries to make us come running, and hopefully, cater to them.
Veterinarian Dr. Matt McGlasson shared a video of an adorable kitten named Little Jimmy McGill that was in a kennel and desperately crying for attention. The tiny black and white kitten sounds like he's in distress, but the sign the vet left outside of the cage says differently, and it's too funny!
We literally laughed out loud when we read the sign Dr. Matt left for the staff so that they'd know Little Jimmy was just being dramatic! But seriously, how could anybody walk by him and not want to pick him up and hold him?We weren't the only ones who got a kick out of the video - viewers left more than 1,200 comments, and some of them were pretty funny!
Dr. Matt asked in the video's caption, "What do you think Little Jimmy McGill did to get himself locked up?" and the answers didn't disappoint.
@t1ff_reads wanted justice, "As Mr. McGill's Cattorney, I have advised my client not to answer any questions unless I'm present. He is clearly innocent of all charges except extreme adorableness, which is not a crime. I expect that my client will be released and all charges dropped. Thank you."
Commenter @xenatheservicedobie had no doubt Jimmy had been set up, "Absolutely nothing, that baby is innocent. He was framed." @pocketlynx agreed and shouted, "Justice for Jimmy! Freedom for Jimmy!!! He's innocent, innocent!"
Another commenter pointed out, "The sign says one thing, but his adorable meows say otherwise. I'm inclined to believe him..." @pussnbutz added, "Arrested for being too cute for his own good!"
@kathensanartwork made everybody smile when they said, "Will send catnip cake with file in it, little kitty… hold tight." We also agreed with @cinlou_who, who said, "I believe every word he says and would break him out of there in a hot minute!!" There's no way we'd be able to walk by without opening that cage!
Unfortunately, Dr. Matt didn't disclose the charges against Little Jimmy. We're sure whatever he did to find himself in the slammer is something he'll probably do again in the future...he looks like he's probably a handful!

Police preemptively close Twin Cities park on Juneteenth to thwart "takeover"

The largest playground in Crystal, Minnesota, was deemed off limits on Thursday afternoon because police warned of a planned "takeover" event from hundreds of teens. Officers began clearing all of Becker Park, including the playground, sport courts and picnic tables, beginning at 2 p.m. "It's a worst-case scenario," said Crystal Police Chief Brian Hubbard. "We don't want someone to get hurt or there to be serious damage because of what we believe has the potential to happen, and it's easier to stop that before it starts." Becker Park experienced several takeovers last summer, including on the Fourth of July, which investigators blamed for fights, drug use and looting. "The last one we had where we had to close the park we had 50 young people run to the Target that's a block from here and they basically ransacked the store," Hubbard said. "If we can prevent that massive gathering in the first place, we don't have any danger here or any surrounding areas once we disperse the crowd." Mayor Julie Deshler said she was "heartbroken" by the park's closure. "At some point you have to say to parents, 'Where are your kids? Why is this being allowed to happen? Do you know where your kids are?'" Deshler said. The mayor said the threat of takeovers is not exclusive to Crystal, and she plans to meet with leaders of neighboring cities to discuss ways to keep parks open and keep people safe.

Service dog training organization flooded with donations following fatal shooting of Rep. Melissa Hortman

Minnesota state Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark, who were killed Saturday morning in what Gov. Tim Walz called a politically motivated attack, trained service dogs in their spare time with a working group called Helping Paws. The Hortmans ended up keeping the last dog they trained, Gilbert, after he flunked out because he was too friendly. Gilbert was shot multiple times by the man who is accused of killing the Hortmans. He was injured so severely that the Hortmans' adult children had to put him to sleep. Rep. Melissa Hortman with a golden retriever. Helping Paws, Inc. Gilbert and the Hortmans' story has nearly 400,000 likes on the "We Rate Dogs" Instagram, and Helping Paws has been flooded with unsolicited donations. The organization reached out to the family and got a call back from the Hortman's adult children Sophie and Collin. "They gave us their blessing, and they said, This is what our mom would want, if something good to come out of this. And we love your organization so much, and Gilbert was such a big part of all of our lives for four years. And my mom would bless this. Our mom would bless this," said the Executive Director of Helping Paws Alyssa Golob. At a candlelight vigil for the Hortmans, Helping Paws dogs were out in full force. "A woman came up and said, 'You know, I made a donation to your organization,' and she's like, 'I just needed to put my rage somewhere'," said Golob. Golob says the organization usually gets 50-100 contributions a month. Since the tragedy they have gotten 5,700 individual donations in just days — so many they have not yet totaled the dollar amount. Helping Paws says it wants to work with the family to set up an appropriate memorial to Gilbert and the Hortmans.
