Delta passenger sparks debate over what to do with screaming babies on planes

New York Post5 hours ago

It was the mile cry club.
A Delta passenger has been ripped up and down online after griping about a baby throwing a screaming fit on a plane. He detailed the mile-high meltdown in a video with nearly 15 million views on X.
The clip shows Pat McAuliffe, a contributor for Barstool Sports, grimacing in his seat as the tot is heard wailing behind him.
'If your child is screaming on a flight (that's late with no AC and hasn't taken off yet @Delta) show it a f–king phone,' he exclaimed. 'Brain rot the baby on TikTok until it's quiet. Is that too much to ask?'
3 'Dawg 3 words! Noise-canceling headphones! Babies crying will be a thing of the past,' said one critic.

McAuliffe added in a follow-up post that while he felt 'bad for the parents,' at some point they needed to 'try something new' to quell the tyke's tantrum.
'Walk his a– up and down the aisle, distract him, do something,' the Barstool writer suggested. 'It's still going on. Simply praying it'll stop is not acceptable.'
In a third post, he wondered, 'At what point does this become a medical emergency? It's been two hours.'

However, McAuliffe's complaints didn't resonate with X commenters, many of whom accused him of overreacting
'That's not loud at all, you little boy,' declared one. 'Such a piece of crap you are.'
'Sounds like you're crying louder than the baby,' said another, while a third wrote, 'it's just a baby crying sometimes babies cry.'
'Dawg 3 words! Noise-canceling headphones! Babies crying will be a thing of the past,' snarked one, to which McAuliffe replied, 'Hey idiot. When the baby is four feet from your face and screaming that doesn't matter.'
3 'At what point does this become a medical emergency? It's been two hours,' wrote McAuliffe on X.

A few sympathized with the passenger's plight with one writing, 'Screaming for 2 hours is on the parents. my child would NOT just be crying for 2 hours.'
'Yep, unbearable. Mommy won't get off her a– to walk the baby and if there is a dad, he'd be sound asleep,' said another.
Crying babies on board has been a contentious issue with some travelers claiming that it's part and parcel of air travel, while others have cited it as a reason there should be 'child-free flights.'
In December, a female passenger named Rae went viral after documenting her empathetic response to a tyke who was bawling incessantly for hours.
The woman, who is a mom herself, reportedly sympathized with the parents, whom she acknowledged were probably 'feeling so much anxiety and pressure.'
At that point, the flyer said she tried to soothe the baby by 'playing peekaboo,' but it only 'helped for a minute.'
The passenger then slapped on some jumbo headphones and watched her inflight entertainment, which she said successfully blocked out the wailing.
'It's that easy,' she said.

Man Joins Wife's Pilates Class to Prove It's 'Easy.' He Gets Humbled When He Walks Out on Shaky Legs (Exclusive)

Zach Webber filmed a skit joining his wife Liz's pilates class — but the pain was real. The viral TikTok shows Zach getting hilariously humbled while Liz skips out refreshed. He now has a whole new respect for Liz's workouts — and maybe pilates, Webber thought he was in for a relaxing workout when he joined his wife, Liz, for pilates — what he got was a viral humbling and a whole new level of respect. The viral TikTok video they posted — captioned 'It's 6:00 AM, time to prove to my wife that pilates is easy' — shows Zach walking confidently into class, and limping out with a new outlook. On the other hand, Liz skips out of the studio, declaring, 'Such a relaxing class,' while Zach stares at her in disbelief. 'Liz had been telling me about her pilates class for months, and she kind of found a passion in it,' Zach shares exclusively with PEOPLE. 'She'd been asking me to come join her. So I was like, okay, let's do it.' While the video was filmed like a comedy sketch, the reactions were the real deal. 'I did think it was going to be easier than it was,' Zach admits. 'It was surprising. It's not easy.' Even though the couple filmed the skit after class to be respectful of the other participants, the sweat and grimaces weren't just for show. 'Holding a lunge in a single position for over a minute or doing some of the stuff with the bands that I'd never done… Those were very real reactions,' Zach says. Liz could barely keep a straight face watching her husband struggle. 'I kept looking over at him being like, well, I told you,' she laughs. 'It's hard for me too… I just started in November. My core and everything has been tough getting it back. So looking over, I'm like, see, it's not just me.' Zach's biggest surprise came from the reformer machine itself. 'We did the reformer pilates, which was a big machine, and that stuff was complicated,' he says. 'Doing stuff on that machine with moving parts and cables and the ropes and all that… It was a totally new experience.' He adds, 'There was a learning curve there for sure. I was definitely slamming the carriage and all of the beginner things that are typical.' And while he's done everything from yoga to weightlifting and running, Zach says nothing really prepared him for this. 'It definitely works different muscles in a different way,' he says. 'It's refreshing and different.' Liz has been consistent with her pilates practice since their second child was born. 'I just had our second, who's now eight months old. That's when I started… and it feels so good after. I'm obsessed.' For Zach, the experience was more than a workout — it was a relationship check-in and has given him a new perspective on his wife's strength. 'Since having our second baby, she's really taken her fitness seriously… and knowing how difficult it is, she's extremely impressive,' he shares. Having Zach join Liz's class — grippy socks and all — meant a lot to the mom of two. 'We're both busy, so it meant a lot that he came out and did it with me,' she says. 'I also feel like whenever I come home from class, I'm like, 'Oh, yeah, we did this.' And he's like, 'Oh yeah,' like he gets it now.' Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. The two have been together 16 years, married for eight, and prioritize trying new things together. 'We try to do new things like this together when we can get time for each other, even if it's something as simple as going to a workout class and getting coffee after,' Zach says. 'That kind of stuff's really important to us.' Zach hasn't ruled out joining Liz again — even if it's not a regular thing. 'If it weren't as far away as it is, because it is like a 20, 30 minute drive, I would probably be doing it more with her,' he said. 'It's a cool way to mix things up if you're stuck in a workout rut.' And for any guys still doubting pilates, Zach has one message: 'Go try it with no pre-judgment and just see if you like it.' Liz agrees. 'It's not just for the girls, too. I feel like incorporating that even once a week, a couple of times a month, is just so good… it does so many different things for you than your typical workouts.' But if you think you're just in for a spa day, beware. 'When I walked in, I was like, this is going to be even easier than I thought it was going to be,' Zach says. 'It felt so calm and peaceful… and then you start sweating like crazy and your abs are shaking and you're like, oh wait, this isn't serene.' Read the original article on People

Roseanne Barr claims ‘God told me' to send 2018 racist tweet that derailed her career

Roseanne Barr is getting candid on the tweet that got her canceled from Hollywood. The actress, 72, starred in the hit sitcom 'Roseanne' for 10 seasons from 1988 to 1997 before the show was rebooted in 2018. The revival, however, was short-lived due to a racist tweet Barr sent out that year. Now, the 'Get Bruce' alum is doubling down, admitting she has no regrets. 6 Roseanne Barr at the 'Roseanne' Press Conference at the Four Seasons Hotel on March 23, 2018 in Beverly Hills, California. WireImage 'The way I feel about it is that God told me to do what I did, and it was a nuclear bomb,' Barr told Variety in an interview published on Friday, June 6. 'The day of my tweet, over 2 million Americans Googled Valerie Jarrett and the Iran deal. And that was my intent. So, whatever.' In 2018, Barr tweeted a picture of Jarrett next to Helena Bonham Carter and wrote, 'Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj.' 6 Roseanne Barr on Instagram. Instagram/Roseanne Barr The comedian noted to the outlet that she feels she posted 'the perfect caption.' 'I was already having nightmares about never going back to that show ['Roseanne'], and God woke me up,' Barr recalled about sending off the tweet that night while also noting again that she was on a mixture of alcohol and Ambien. 'I had my laptop there in bed, as always,' Barr explained, 'and I opened it, and there was [an X post with] a picture of Valerie Jarrett next to Helena Bonham Carter in full makeup as Ari in 'Planet of the Apes,' and they looked like Xerox copies of each other, so I captioned it.' Jarrett, 68, was born in Iran and helped facilitate the 2015 Iran nuclear deal under President Barack Obama's administration. 6 Roseanne Barr Getty Images Despite high first season ratings, the 'Roseanne' revival was canceled by ABC after Barr's tweet. Channing Dungey, ABC's Entertainment president at the time, said the Emmy winner's words were 'abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values.' Disney CEO Bob Iger said, 'There was only one thing to do here, and that was the right thing.' However, Barr feels otherwise, sharing that her tweet was not racist and for others to assume it says more about them. 6 The TV sitcom 'Roseanne.' Disney General Entertainment Content via Getty Images 'They were so racist that they thought my tweet said Black people look like monkeys when it was about 'Planet of the Apes,' which is a movie about fascism,' she told Variety. 'Rod Serling himself said it's about the Jews in Germany. It is not a movie about Black people, Bob.' ABC then moved forward with the reboot but killed off Barr's character with a drug overdose and changed the title of the series to 'The Conners.' The sitcom ran for seven seasons before wrapping up for good in April. 6 The sitcom 'Roseanne.' Getty Images 'I felt very pissed off that they stole my rights and killed me,' Barr expressed. 'It was so stupid and shortsighted, and I don't know how they answer to their shareholders for canceling me before even one sponsor pulled out.' The hit show also starred John Goodman (Dan Conner), Sara Gilbert (Darlene Conner), Laurie Metcalf (Jackie Harris), and Johnny Galecki (David Healy). In May, Barr expressed how she felt the cancel culture mob came after her. 6 Roseanne Barr attends the Mr. Birchum Series Premiere on May 07, 2024 in Los Angeles, California. Getty Images for DailyWire+ 'They were waiting for me to slip up,' she alleged, confirming she was referring to the left-leaning executives at the network. Barr claimed ABC bosses were already on high alert about her support for Trump. 'They spied. They monitored everything I did,' alleged Barr. 'They wanted to censor me from the very beginning.' She also charged, 'They hijacked that tweet and made out it said something that it didn't.' 'I'm not stupid. I would never refer to a black person as the product of an ape,' Barr continued. Taking back her original apology, the comedian said, 'The worst mistake you can do is apologize to the left. Then they are on a crusade against you. Once you admit a mistake, they will keep on until you're dead.'

Delivery Driver Spots Cat—Doorbell Cam Captures 'Emotional Damage'

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The internet is in stitches after a delivery driver asked a pet parent a certain question about her cat. Michaela Roxy Davies, known on TikTok as @michaeladavies12, came to the front door when she noticed a delivery driver dropping off a package. Along with Davies came her cat Lily, who is also referred to as Fat Lily, which led the delivery driver to ask: "Is she pregnant?" This question didn't come as a surprise, Davies told Newsweek via TikTok, "She's a big gal and always has been!" Davies responded to the driver that Lily isn't pregnant and instead she's "just really fat." The two of them started laughing, which was captured on her Ring camera and posted to TikTok last week, bringing in over 156,500 views and 29,900 likes. "He didn't say anything else about Fat Lily afterwards, was just taking a picture of my parcel," Davies said. "He was a lovely guy and found it funny." The end of the video included a close-up picture of Fat Lily. She looked completely unamused by the question, causing her "emotional damage." "Not the delivery man fat-shaming your cat," wrote one user. Another commented on the picture of Lily: "The pain in her eyes!!! Don't worry girl, we've all been there." A third user added: "You leave her alone!" Cats' Weight While the delivery driver's comment might've hurt Lily's feelings, the truth is that she is not the only cat weighing in on the heavier side. A PetMD article from last year reported that about 61 percent of cats are overweight. It's almost impossible to say "no" to those begging eyes for another treat or helping of food, but obesity in cats can lead to health issues, including diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, cancers and a weakened immune system. It can also shorten a cat's lifespan. Every cat is at risk of becoming overweight, but the article shared that several cat breeds are more susceptible to weight gain. Those breeds include Persian, Manx, British and American shorthaired, exotic shorthaired, Ragamuffin, Birman, Sphynx, Maine Coons and Norweigan Forest cats. These cats often prefer napping the day away instead of playing. Plus, they can never turn down food. Do you have funny and adorable videos or pictures of your pet you want to share?
