FAIR City star Tina Kellegher has opened up about her family life and revealed the reason she stepped back from the hit RTE show.
The actress, best known for playing Ger Lynch in the popular soap, returned to Carrigstown earlier this month after her character

"I talk out loud and mainly do it myself. I'm in a house full of men with a husband, two sons and two male dogs. They don't get too excited about Fair City."
The TV star said her eldest is now in college "studying wildlife biology", while her youngest is still in fifth year.
She explained: "They're very busy and they're at the stage where they're busy doing their own thing. They're men now."
Tina also said she "pulled back a lot from work" when her boys were young as her husband's hours are "insane" when he's away on location.

She explained: "His contracts are very long as a location manager. I've got nannies in the past, but they cost a lot and you still have a worry that they're not going to show up.
"A live-in nanny was never on my agenda. I wouldn't want that. I rear my children as much as I can."

The actress revealed she left
Tina said: "RTE knew that I was available and when they saw the possibility of a storyline they gave my agent a call and asked me to come back. So here I am."
She admitted it was a tough call at the time but it was a no-brainer when she was asked to return.

"Yeah, but at the same time I've always been a bit of a home bird. My priority was sorting out things back there. I've always made those sorts of decisions, but it was still hard to leave Fair City."

There was a star-sprinkled audience present, including Fair City 's Jenny Lee Dixon, Miss Universe Ireland 2023 Aishah Akorede and Ireland AM presenter Deric Hartigan. Since 1947, the Miss Ireland pageant has celebrated intelligence, ambition, and cultural pride, evolving into a platform that champions female leadership and philanthropy. Caoimhe is a strong advocate for social equality and is a volunteer at both Save Our Homeless Dundalk and the Hygiene Hub Louth.
