A three member bench comprising justices BR Gavai, Surya Kant and Abhay S Oka said the matter will have to go before another bench. Justice Oka, who is set to retire on May 25, said "it is a matter of propriety". Justice Gavai added the bench "will have it (the case) somewhere in July".
At the last hearing, the SC had appointed senior advocate and former solicitor general Ranjit Kumar as amicus curiae in the case. Solicitor general Tushar Mehta, at the last hearing, had submitted that the issue involves only a question of law and it was clear from the Lokpal Act itself that there was no jurisdiction for the body to entertain the complaint.

City's Green Space Gets A Welcome Addition
New Delhi: Lieutenant governor VK Saxena and chief minister Rekha Gupta jointly inaugurated the redeveloped Sadbhavana Park, a grand addition to north Delhi's green urban spaces, on Tuesday. Parallel to the Walled City on Mahatma Gandhi Marg, Sadbhavana Park is spread across 11 acres of redeveloped green space. Intended to emphasise geometrical forms and designed as a formal garden to balance the gardens in the Samadhi complex on the east side of Ring Road, Sadbhavana Park will provide open recreational avenues to citizens, especially those living in Daryaganj and nearby old Delhi localities. Chandni Chowk MP Praveen Khandelwal, chief secretary Dharmendra, and senior officers from Delhi Development Authority were also present at the inauguration. The key features of the park are the chariot fountains, baradari, sculpture fountains, formal lawns and the shaded eating plaza. According to officials, the park has white marble pathways and sculptures contrasting with the linear green areas divided into lawns and low-maintenance plantation zones, which provide a sense of grandeur. A sculpture of five white horses driven by a sarathi, set in a circular water pond with fountains, adorns the park as a unique feature in Delhi's landscape. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Villas For Sale in Dubai Might Surprise You Dubai villas | search ads Get Deals Undo Additionally, four magnificent sculptures of Yakshinis, crafted by Sudarshan Sahoo, a Padma Vibhushan-winning sculptor, have been installed within the linear lawns. These artworks enhance the park's beauty and offer a serene space for people to relax. A clock tower, currently under construction, will further enhance the park's aesthetic appeal. A food van, proposed to be opened near the parking, will attract visitors and enhance their leisure experience. At the inauguration on Tuesday, LG and CM planted moulsari saplings at the centre of the baradari. Other officers planted the Pride of India saplings along the designed pathways. The plantation of these trees and saplings will contribute not only to the beauty of the area but also contribute to air quality and ecological balance for the benefit of the community. Delhi Development Authority said in a statement that white balloons were released into the sky as a symbol of Sadbhavana (goodwill). "Under the consistent guidance of LG, the Sadbhavana Park was conceptualised as part of a scheme to decongest the Kartavya Path lawns. It is a part of a larger landscape redevelopment project comprising three parks along Mahatma Gandhi Road. The project aims to become a vibrant urban hub where visitors can immerse themselves in nature while enjoying the amenities of a well-maintained park," the statement said. Kranti Udyan, the first park in the series, was inaugurated in Jan. Sadbhavana Park, the second, followed five months later. The scheme integrates a green belt spread over a 35-acre area, running around 1.7km in length along Ring Road.

Will take up opening of Shipki La route for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra with Centre: CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu
Shimla: Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday said the state govt would raise the issue of starting the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra from Shipki La in Kinnaur district with the central govt. "I will meet the Prime Minister and present this matter before him. Shipki La will be the easiest route for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra," Sukhu said while addressing the public gathering after the launch of border tourism activities at Shipki La – a high-altitude 3,930-metre motorable mountain pass bordering India and China in the tribal district of Kinnaur. The CM said at the border, the state govt had eased restrictions for tourists to enjoy the beauty of Shipki La, and the tourism activities here would strengthen the economy of the local people along with boosting tourism in the region. The state govt had requested the Union ministry of defence to grant permission for starting tourism activities in the border areas of Lepcha, Shipki La, Giu, and Rani Kanda. After the approval for the same, the border tourism initiative has been launched, he added. The centuries-old trade route between India and Tibet, Shipki La, was closed for trade in 2020. There are immense possibilities of trade and cultural exchange through this pass, and the matter of restarting it would also be raised before the central govt, said Sukhu. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Good News: You May Be Richer Than You Think Undo He further said the state govt had also urged the Centre to establish a Himachal Scout Battalion, which would have a special quota for the local people from the border areas of the state. Also, the matter of setting up an airport to promote tourism in the border areas will also be pursued before the Union govt. The state govt will urge the Centre to abolish the inner line check post of the military and paramilitary forces, which currently creates permit-related obstacles for the tourists, said Sukhu. Special attention is being given to promoting seamless travel and improving the experience of tourists, under which cooperation with the Army and paramilitary forces will be emphasised, he added. The Wangtu-Atargu-Mud-Bhaba road connecting Lahaul-Spiti district to Kinnaur has been approved by the National Wildlife Board, thus paving the way for its construction. It will reduce the distance between Shimla and Kaza by approximately 100 km, said Sukhu. The CM said he recently discussed the action plan to promote tourism in the border areas with the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). There has also been a discussion on using various helipads of the ITBP to promote tourism in remote areas. Discussions have also been held about providing medical facilities to the people through the health institutions of the ITBP, he added. Sukhu also inaugurated the Border Forest Park at Shipki La and visited Indira Gandhi Point. Revenue minister Jagat Singh Negi said more basic facilities would be increased at Shipki La in near future. He also urged the start of an on-demand bus route in the area. MSID:: 121753588 413 |

Arambai Tenggol calls off 10-day Manipur bandh, protest to continue
1 2 Imphal : Arambai Tenggol has officially called off its 10-day bandh in Manipur, which was launched to protest the arrest of its leader, Asem Kanan Singh. The suspension took effect on Tuesday morning, marking the third day of the agitation. At a press conference on Tuesday, the group's PRO, Robin Mangang, condemned Singh's arrest and said the bandh was withdrawn in response to public appeals and recognition of the hardships faced by civilians. "Understanding and accepting the various inconveniences caused by the ongoing total shutdown, we have decided to call off the bandh," he said. Despite lifting the bandh, Arambai Tenggol vowed to continue democratic forms of agitation until Asem Kanan Singh is released unconditionally. "We are an unarmed group formed as a socio-cultural organisation with the objective to preserve and promote the culture and traditions of Manipur. However, circumstances forced us to defend the state from 'illegal immigrant Kuki terrorists', which led to us taking up arms. Unfortunately, as a result, govt agencies like the NIA and CBI have started arresting our members," Mangang said. Even though the shutdown has been lifted, Mangang reaffirmed that peaceful protests will persist until Singh's unconditional release. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo The bandh severely disrupted daily life in the five valley districts of Manipur —Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal, Bishnupur, and Kakching — bringing activity to a near standstill. The situation was further intensified by internet shutdowns and prohibitory orders imposed under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) by the state govt to maintain law and order. Commercial activity was hard hit, with Khwairamband Keithel, the state's largest marketplace, remaining largely closed. Only a few women vendors selling vegetables in the early hours were seen operating, while most shops kept their shutters down. Public transport services were also off the roads, with only vehicles involved in emergency services, essential supplies, and religious functions permitted to operate. To prevent escalation, state and central security forces were deployed across sensitive areas in Imphal and key points in the valley districts. The bandh, enforced primarily in the valley districts, was not observed in the hill districts of the state. It was triggered by protests that erupted late at night on June 7, leading to the imposition of a 10-day total shutdown starting that same day.
