Watch: Idaho man scoops water with his hands to break his own world record
May 20 (UPI) -- The Idaho man who holds the most concurrent Guinness World Records titles beat one of his own records by using his hands to transfer 1.3 gallons of water between two containers in 30 seconds.
David "Record Breaker" Rush said it originally took him five years of attempts to set the record for most water moved by the hands in 30 seconds before he finally broke it in 2024 with 112.4 ounces of water successfully transferred.
Rush said several of his early attempts were disqualified due to Guinness World Records rules violations, including his pitcher of water moving slightly and using a non-approved surface.
Rush took aim at his own record and "obliterated" it with 172.5 ounces, or 1.3 gallons, of water moved.
Rush wrote the record taught him that "persistence pays off, the weirdest goals can lead to rewarding victories, and that sometimes, breaking your own record is even sweeter than setting the first one."

Watch: 'The Rainmaker' trailer reimagines John Grisham novel
June 4 (UPI) -- USA Network is previewing The Rainmaker, a new series that reimagines the 1995 novel by John Grisham. Grisham's book previously inspired Francis Ford Coppola's 1997 film starring Matt Damon and Claire Danes. The upcoming series features Milo Callaghan as Rudy Baylor, Lana Parrilla as Bruiser, John Slattery as Leo Drummond and Madison Iseman as Sarah Plankmore. The trailer shows the fallout of Rudy's firing from Leo Drummond's firm on his first day. He gets another job with Bruiser, but his case pits him against girlfriend Sarah, who works for his former boss. "What happens when Leo finds out that my boyfriend is suing his prized client," Sarah says in the teaser. "...You need to drop this case." "Or what?" he responds. "What is it about this story that keeps drawing people in?" said showrunner Michael Seitzman, referencing the book's multiple adaptations. "Maybe it's the David-and -Goliath legal thriller, the dangerous romance or the coming-of-age story. For me, above all, it's the characters. They jumped off the page in John's book and were a joy to expand upon in our show." P.J. Byrne, Dan Fogler, Wade Briggs and Robyn Cara also star. The series premieres Aug. 15.

John Candy documentary to open Toronto International Film Festival

TIFF announced the documentary, directed by Colin Hanks and produced by Ryan Reynolds, will screen Sept. 4 at the Opening Night Gala at Roy Thomson Hall. The film chronicles the life and career of Candy, an actor and comedian who died in 1994 at the age of 43. "Comedy fans all over the world grew up on John Candy's humor," TIFF CEO Cameron Bailey said in a news release. "We love that John's global career started in Toronto, and we can't wait to share John Candy: I Like Me with everyone at this year's Opening Night Gala premiere. Colin Hanks has made a hugely entertaining film packed with some of Hollywood's biggest stars, but like John, this movie is all heart. For us, it's the perfect way to kick off TIFF's 50th edition." John Candy: I Like Me features never-before-seen home videos, interviews with his family and the recollections of colleagues and collaborators. The documentary is set to be released in the fall on Prime Video. Teyana Taylor releases 'Long Time,' first single in 5 years
June 4 (UPI) -- Singer and actress Teyana Taylor is back with her first single in five years. She released the song "Long Time" and its music video Wednesday. "I kept you inspired, I lent you my fire," she sings in the visual, wearing a red-splotched white gown. "You let me get tired." LaKeith Stanfield plays her husband in the video, while Aaron Pierre portrays an apparent detective. The song describes the singer's realization that she should have left her relationship a long time ago. "Long Time" will appear on the music artist's upcoming visual album, Escape Room, due in August. "Wow, it's really happening y'all," Taylor wrote in an Instagram post celebrating the new music. "It's been a long time coming... I'm here debuting new music." Taylor is also set to star opposite Taraji P. Henson in Tyler Perry's Straw, which premieres Friday. She will also star alongside Kim Kardashian and Naomi Watts in All's Fair, a series arriving on Hulu later in 2025.
