Brian Graham rejects offer to become Partick Thistle manager
Brian Graham has turned down the Partick Thistle manager's job after having reservations following the interview process.
STV understands Morton boss Dougie Imrie, former Dunfermline manager James McPake and ex-Hereford boss Paul Caddis have also been interviewed for the post.
Since Graham turned the job down on Wednesday, STV has learned the club interviewed further candidates and that process is now complete.
Veteran striker Graham stood down as manager of Thistle's women's side when he and Mark Wilson were placed in charge as the interim management team following the sacking of Kris Doolan in February.
Graham, who has 12 months remaining on his contract as a player, has stated previously he couldn't return to the Jags dressing room unless he was permanent manager. His rejection of the manager's job raises questions over his future at Firhill.
Graham and Wilson had guided the team to fourth place in the Championship table but saw their promotion hopes ended by play-off defeat to Livingston.

Rio Ferdinand reacts to Liam Delap snubbing Man Utd move for Chelsea transfer
Rio Ferdinand has described Liam Delap as a 'wonderful young player' but believes his decision to join Chelsea could be a blessing in disguise for Manchester United. United expressed interest in signing Delap from relegated Premier League side Ipswich Town, with Ruben Amorim keen to bolster his attacking options this summer. Delap, who scored 12 goals in the Premier League last season, was interested in joining the Red Devils despite their alarming fall from grace but ultimately decided to join Chelsea instead. Chelsea qualifying for the Champions League on the final day of the season was reportedly a key factor in Delap's decision, with United finishing just 15th in the Premier League and failing to qualify for any European competition. Ferdinand says Delap has 'huge potential' but admits he is not too bothered that the striker, the son of ex-Stoke City defender Rory, will not be arriving at Old Trafford. Wake up to find news on your club in your inbox every morning with Metro's Football Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your team in the link so we can send you football news tailored to you. The Manchester United legend does want a new striker to arrive at the club this summer but wants that player to have more experience than Delap, who has made just 39 Premier League appearances. 'I think Liam Delap is a wonderful young player with huge potential,' Ferdinand said on his YouTube channel. 'But I felt him coming to United now would be the wrong fit for both him and the club. United need experience, not another young centre forward. 'I've always said, young centre forwards coming to big clubs like United need to learn from experienced players. We've seen it with someone like [Wayne] Rooney learning from more experienced players. 'That always needs to happen and United are in a position where we have Chido [Obi-Martin], a young forward, one of the best young strikers about at the moment. 'We've got [Rasmus] Hojlund who's been there for two years and what a vulnerable place that's been. He's had no one to lean on in that position or to look at for an example. 'He hasn't had that man and that's a big worry for me. If you invest £75m in a player you need to put the things around him to let him grow and he hasn't had that. 'This is no slight on Liam Delap, who looks like he's going Chelsea. But Manchester United need to go and get an experienced striker to help the current forwards they've got at the club.' More Trending After missing out on Delap, Manchester United could intensify their interest in Sporting Lisbon's Viktor Gyokeres or Napoli's Victor Osimhen. Gyokeres appears closer to joining Arsenal at this stage, however, while Osimhen is considering a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia. United have held talks to sell or loan out Hojlund but will only sanction his departure if and when they bring in a new goalscorer. The Manchester giants are open to offloading several other players, including Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Antony. For more stories like this, check our sport page. Gary Neville left stunned by Liverpool after 'incredible' £10m transfer
Gary Neville has been left stunned by Liverpool raking in £10million for Trent Alexander-Arnold - despite the full-back only having one month remaining on his contract. Real Madrid announced the signing of the full-back ahead of the transfer window opening. Alexander-Arnold, 26, heads to the Spanish capital to link up with Los Blancos in time for the beginning of the Club World Cup. Real have been keen to secure his signature early, and saw an approach to the Reds turned down in January. The new La Liga star has signed a six-year contract at the Bernabeu and Les Merengues handed Liverpool an £8.4m fee. The Reds also save a month of Alexander-Arnold's salary as Real Madrid pick up the tab to see the Anfield side earn a tidy £10m package. The Spanish giants will be relieved to have a right-back at their disposal having seen Federico Valverde and Lucas Vasquez fulfill the role after Dani Carvajal was ruled out for the season. New boss Xabi Alonso will be able to call upon Alexander-Arnold from the beginning of his tenure. Ex-Manchester United captain and Salford City co-owner Neville is in disbelief at the deal. Though, he can understand the thought process the Club World Cup hopefuls went through. "Honestly, no, I mean, I'm stunned by that really, that £10m has changed hands for, but there is £100m pounds at stake in this World Club Championship and Real Madrid have got a great chance of doing it," he said on the It's Called Soccer podcast on the US Overlap channel. "So you imagine if he plays in this tournament, they haven't got a right back that's playing there naturally at this moment in time. So it could be money well spent in four or five weeks. "I just find it crazy that you're spending £10m to have a player for five, six games. It's incredible." Neville has been impressed with Liverpool's work so far this summer. The Reds have signed Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen and look set to add Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez to their ranks too. He said: "I think when you're talking about winning the league, what is it that improves you? I mean, the only thing that's going to improve you when you win the league is signing world-class players, or players that have got the potential to be world-class players. So signing Wirtz is fantastic. "Frimpong and then there's talk of Kerkez as well, deals with their right and left-back situations. So to get those three done, if they were to get those three done quite quickly, would be smart business. But I wouldn't have expected anything else from Liverpool. "Maybe slightly surprised that they've gone so heavy on Wirtz in terms of the fee. They don't normally go that big, but Slot deserves it, by the way. He waited 12 months for a player to sign." Russell Martin looks set to win race to become new Rangers head coach
The former Rangers and Scotland defender was reported to be finalising personal terms after accepting the position, which became vacant in February when Philippe Clement was sacked. The apparently imminent appointment is the latest in a series of major developments at Ibrox. An American consortium led by Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises secured a majority shareholding on Friday and new sporting director Kevin Thelwell officially began work on Monday. Thelwell stated on his first day that the recruitment of a new head coach would come to a conclusion 'in the coming days'. Outgoing Real Madrid assistant manager Davide Ancelotti and former Rangers boss Steven Gerrard – who reportedly pulled out of the running – were also among the leading candidates. Martin has been without a club since being sacked by Southampton in December after a 5-0 home defeat to Tottenham left Saints bottom of the Premier League on five points after 16 matches. The 39-year-old had secured promotion in his first season in charge thanks to a Championship play-off final win against Leeds. The ex-Peterborough and Norwich captain began his managerial career in November 2019 when he stepped up from MK Dons' playing squad to take charge of his team. We can confirm that we have taken the difficult decision to part ways with our Men's First Team Manager, Russell Martin. — Southampton FC (@SouthamptonFC) December 15, 2024 Martin steered the Dons clear of relegation danger before the pandemic struck and his side finished 13th in Sky Bet League One in what proved to be his only full campaign in charge. Martin moved to Swansea in August 2021 after the Welsh club made an official approach to MK Dons on the eve of their season opener, leading them to 15th and then 10th-placed finishes in the Championship before moving to Southampton. Martin's firm commitment to possession-based football drew some criticism as Saints struggled in the top flight and he defended his approach days before the fateful meeting with Ange Postecoglou's Spurs side. 'I get criticised for the same thing (as Postecoglou),' said Martin. 'About being stubborn and all that stuff. But if you believe in something and it's taken you a certain way in life then to deviate too far from that is crazy. 'I can't speak for him but we are also adapting. We adapt shape, approach, personnel, but with the same consistency about what is important for us, with the same concept of the game. We can't deviate too far from that otherwise we become nothing, really.' Martin now looks set to take his principles up against another purveyor of possession-based football and one of his predecessors as Swansea manager, Brendan Rodgers, whose Celtic side recently won their 13th title in 14 years. Although Rangers have only won three major trophies since emerging from the Ibrox liquidation crisis of 2012, Martin will have a good grasp of the fans' demands and expectations, which have been raised by the takeover and the promise of a £20million investment in the playing side. Martin spent the second half of the 2017-18 season on loan from Norwich at Rangers, playing under caretaker managers Graeme Murty and then Jimmy Nicholl. His appearances included a 4-0 Scottish Cup semi-final defeat and 5-0 loss against a Rodgers-led Celtic side as Rangers finished third in the Premiership.
