Fans of The Waltons were in for a treat when one of the show's beloved stars made a rare public appearance in Los Angeles, stepping out with her husband for a casual day of shopping.
The actress, now 59, played a member of the tight-knit Virginia family living through the hardships of the Great Depression and World War II.
Nearly five decades after the iconic series first aired, she looked radiant and relaxed on her stroll, rocking a breezy black-and-white skirt, a sporty zip-up, and a floppy sun hat—worlds away from her character's life in the rural Appalachian Mountains.
But it was her signature ginger-tinged hair that gave her away to longtime fans as she strolled arm-in-arm with her British-born husband, with whom she shares two children after more than two decades of marriage.
After stepping away from Hollywood, the former child star traded scripts for textbooks, earning a degree in Social Sciences and later launching her own education consulting business.
Can you guess the reclusive star?

If you said Kami Cotler, you're right!
The real-life Elizabeth Walton, who was just six when she landed her breakout role, still charms today—only now in a very different spotlight.
Kami's much-loved family drama ran from 1971 to 1981 (with three subsequent movie spin-offs).
At the heart of the series was eldest son John-Boy (Richard Thomas), an aspiring writer, along with his hardworking parents John Sr. (Ralph Waite) and Olivia (Michael Learned).
The family also included strong-willed Mary Ellen (Judy Norton), fun-loving Jim-Bob (David W. Harper), and the youngest, Elizabeth (Kami Cotler).
Beloved grandparents Zebulon 'Zeb' Walton (Will Geer) and Esther Walton (Ellen Corby) added wisdom and warmth, becoming fan favorites for their humor and heart.
It remains famous for its much imitated 'Goodnight John Boy' closing sequence where each member of the family says goodnight to the others.
The show was such an example for American family life at the time, that President George Bush once even said in a speech in 1992 that he wished to make families in the United States 'more like the Waltons and less like the Simpsons'.
The program earned two Golden Globe Awards as well as an Emmy Award for outstanding drama series.
Its lasting popularity brought the cast back together for six reunion TV movies, which aired between 1982 and 1997.
And Long Beach native Kami wasn't the only performer in the family—her brother Jeff Cotler also ventured into acting during the 1970s and early 1980s.
He appeared in several television series, including The Waltons, Mork & Mindy, Falcon Crest, and Galactica 1980.
However, Jeff eventually stepped away from the entertainment industry, later working as a projectionist at Sundance Cinemas in San Francisco.
As for the rest of the beloved cast, many have continued to thrive in new chapters of their careers.
Thomas, who played John-Boy, went on to earn acclaim in adult roles with standout turns in The Americans, NCIS: New Orleans, and Ozark.
Jon Walmsley (Jason) focused on music, releasing a blues-inspired solo album, Goin' to Clarksdale, in 2017.

Judy Norton (Mary Ellen) embraced writing and directing, appearing in indie films like Inclusion Criteria and developing her own projects including the upcoming Shoot Like a Girl.
Mary Elizabeth McDonough (Erin) became a successful author and women's health advocate—her novel Christmas on Honeysuckle Lane was even turned into a Hallmark movie in which she had a role.
Eric Scott (Ben) now runs a courier business in Southern California, while David W. Harper (Jim-Bob) left acting and reportedly works as an art dealer in Los Angeles.
Michael Learned (Olivia) returned to TV with recent roles in General Hospital and Netflix's Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.
The show's patriarch, Ralph Waite (John Sr.), continued acting until his death in 2014, with memorable appearances on NCIS, Bones, and Days of Our Lives.

Look away Ben! Jennifer Lopez kisses a major movie star on the lips for sexiest role yet... after divorcing Affleck

Jennifer Lopez has landed her sexiest role to date. The 55-year-old diva was seen in silky lingerie while locking lips with Diego Luna, 45, in the first trailer for her movie Kiss Of The Spider Woman. And, interestingly, the film has been executive produced by her ex-husband Ben Affleck as well as his best friend Matt Damon. The film is a new version of the 1993 Broadway musical, which was based on Manuel Puig's 1976 novel of the same name. Lopez plays an imaginary figure named Aurora, who was dreamed up by jailed gay hairdresser Luis Molina (Tonatiuh). The musical from director Bill Condon is set to debut on October 10, 2025. In the story, Molina is serving eight years behind bars 'for corrupting a minor.' He imagines films starring Aurora - in a role previously played by Sonia Braga - to escape his misery while imprisoned. The Bronx-bred actress plays an imaginary figure named Aurora, who was dreamed up by jailed gay hairdresser Luis Molina The film stars Tonatiuh (pictured) as the hairdresser and Luna as his cellmate. In one of the fantasized productions, Aurora embodies a spider woman who kisses her victims to kill them. Throughout the narrative, Molina forms a connection with his cellmate Valentin Arregui (Luna), who's a Marxist. Rehearsals began in February 2024, and filming kicked off in New Jersey in April. A film adaptation of the book was previously made in 1985 by director Héctor Babenco. Both the film and the Broadway show were critically acclaimed, scoring various awards and accolades. It's a whole new vibe for this singer, dancer and actress William Hurt, who played Molina in the feature, won an Oscar for Best Actor. Meanwhile, the musical earned a whopping seven Tony Awards, including one for best musical. Kiss of the Spider Woman premiered at Sundance Film Festival in January. It will be released in theaters on October 10, 2025. Other films that Jennifer and Ben worked on together include This Is Me... Now and Unstoppable. They also collaborated on a hilarious Dunkin' Donuts commercial with Damon. Jennifer and Ben - who used to be called Bennifer - met on the set of the comedy Gigli over 20 years ago. Lopez recently wrapped filming on her latest romantic comedy Office Romance, in which she stars alongside 43-year-old Brett Goldstein, best known for his role in Ted Lasso. Her shoot concluded shortly before Jennifer and her former partner Affleck, 51, reportedly made a significant reduction to the asking price of their mansion in Bel Air, California . According to a report by TMZ, the couple dropped the price of the 12-bedroom, 24-bathroom estate from $68 million to $60 million, after originally purchasing the property in May 2023 for $60,850,000. The property was first listed for sale in July 2024. Sources told TMZ Ben had been pushing for the price cut, reportedly urging Jennifer to agree so the house would sell. 'Ben wants to get rid of it because their divorce is over and he wants to cut all ties and have it be done,' an insider said. 'He just wants it over and to sell it. He wants to reduce the price.' Another source told TMZ: 'Jennifer thinks they can get more money for the home, so she wants to keep the price as is. But the real estate market is not there and it's not selling.' Experts cited by the site said the estate was overpriced, suggesting it would need to be reduced by at least 15 percent to attract buyers. Insurance costs have also proven a deterrent, with annual fire insurance for the hillside property estimated at $500,000. Wildfires in Southern California earlier this year further intensified concerns. In August 2024, one month after the listing, Jennifer and Ben reportedly accepted a $64 million offer from a New Jersey couple, only for the deal to fall through due to a family bereavement. In October, Selling Sunset star Jason Oppenheim

Met singers' union gets 5% increase partly funded by $5M appropriation from New York state

The Metropolitan Opera and the union for its soloists and chorus announced a one-year agreement Friday on a contract. The agreement calls for a 2.5% wage increase plus an additional temporary 2.5% hike that followed the labor group's assistance in securing a $5 million appropriation in New York state's budget. The deal between the Met and the American Guild of Musical Artists starts Aug. 1 and runs through July 31, 2026. It must be ratified by the union. AGMA also represents dancers, full-time actors, stage managers, stage directors and choreographers. The Met said AGMA helped lobby the state government for the appropriation, and the additional 2.5% rise will sunset when the deal expires. Two other major Met union deals expire July 31, with Local 802 of the American Federation of Musicians, which represents the orchestra, and Local One of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, which represents stagehands.

Nicky Hilton shares an intimate breastfeeding photo as she invests in formula company

Nicky Hilton shared a photo of herself nursing one of her children as she announced her new collaboration on Friday. The heiress, 41, whose sister Paris claims she has a ghost in her mansion, opened up about how difficult breast feeding had been for her in the post. 'I breastfed all three of my children, but it wasn't without its challenges,' she wrote on a post for The 2amClub. 'While I enjoyed the moments of bonding, the latching was often painful,' she revealed, admitting, 'I didn't find breastfeeding as effortlessly as I'd hoped.' She also wrote about the societal pressure to nurse. 'The expectations put on mothers can be overwhelming,' Hilton stated. 'We're just doing our best, and feeding our children - whether through breast feeding or bottle feeding - shouldn't come with guilt or judgement. You have to listen to your body and do what's right for you.' It was apparently her own experiences that resulted in Hilton announcing she was an investor in Narababy. 'Their innovative baby formula, launching this spring, is something I'm truly proud to be a part of,' she wrote next to the post with a link to the new formula company. She encouraged her fellow moms to follow her example and 'Share your feeding confession at Hilton shares daughters Lily-Grace, almost nine, and Theodora, known as Teddy, six, and son Chasen, three with husband James Rothschild, 39. Several fans shared their own experiences. 'Cheers to any mother who can breastfeed. And cheers to all mothers who do what's best to keep their babies fed, no matter what their own emotional preferences are,' commented one follower. 'Don't let anybody tell you what to feed and how to feed your baby,' admonished another. 'Wow, that's so inspiring! Can't wait to see your support making a real difference,' said a fan. According to the Nara Organics website, the new formula is made from organic whole fat cows milk and meet both US and the stricter standards of the European Union. It brags of its product containing 'the most whole milk fat* of any U.S. formula,' offering to make the data available upon request. The company also developed an app that helps expectant moms track 'your body, mood, and medications during your pregnancy journey,' along with 'prenatal and other healthcare appointments' and questions they may have for their healthcare providers. After the baby is born, the app is said to help new parents and their caregivers 'log activities throughout the day.' Those include feeding time, naps, diaper changes and more. The company is building buzz by asking future customers to sign up for a wait list for the product that was supposed to be available in Spring 2025.
