Dabaiba calls for government-municipality partnership to ensure security, services
Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, has called for a 'responsible partnership between the government and municipalities to ensure the success of the security and services initiative,' stressing that "the state cannot achieve stability without the solidarity of its institutions and local components."
The remarks came during a meeting on Sunday at the Prime Minister's Office in Tripoli with a delegation from the municipalities of Bani Walid, Al-Mardum, and Tininnay, which included mayors, municipal council members, local elders, academics, and heads of various service sectors, according to the Prime Minister's media office.
In a statement on Facebook, the media office said the meeting focused on strengthening state institutions, promoting stability, and supporting efforts to empower the police and military institutions, as well as ending the presence of armed groups operating outside official frameworks. This comes in light of the government's commitment to confronting grave violations and crimes against humanity committed outside the law.
The delegation from Bani Walid, Al-Mardum, and Tininnay expressed full support for the path toward a civil state and rejection of illegitimate armed formations, affirming their readiness to contribute to stability and institutional development.
Dbeibah has intensified his meetings with local leaders over the past two weeks to follow up on their needs and the development projects underway by the Government of National Unity, despite ongoing political and security tensions in Tripoli, which escalated into violent clashes between armed groups in mid-May.
