Noida boy missing since 2015 found in separate abduction case probe
A 17-year-old boy who disappeared from his Noida home in 2015 was finally reunited with his family nearly a decade later on Tuesday after being discovered during investigations into a separate child abduction case in Faridabad on June 2, officials said. The teenager was identified through distinctive physical marks—a severed middle finger on his right hand and a scar below his left eye—after his facial appearance had changed significantly over nine years. The incident came to light as part of Faridabad police's investigation into the May 28 kidnapping of a seven-year-old boy from Dayal Bagh area. CCTV footage led them to suspect Mangal Kumar, who had taken the child to Lucknow. During interrogation, Mangal revealed he abducted the child to raise as his own. Police then learned from locals about a 17-year-old boy living with Mangal who had appeared 'from nowhere.' 'Mangal had the boy's Aadhaar card in his name and told everyone he was his son,' said ASI Mahesh Phogat of Faridabad crime branch. 'But locals informed us that Mangal's wife had left him and he had no children, so we counselled the boy.' The teenager had believed Mangal was his father, but after counselling agreed to help locate his biological parents. 9 years of searching The boy's elder brother, 25, who lives in Bhangel, Noida, received the call Monday evening. 'Initially, I took it casually as we visited Gautam Budh Nagar police stations more than 150 times in the last 10 years,' he said. Despite facial changes, the brother identified him through the severed finger—injured when their younger sister was using a chaff cutter—and the eye mark from when their aunt threw a utensil in anger. The family had nearly lost hope. 'Around a year back, we stopped visiting police stations,' the brother said. Their parents had moved to their native town in Manipur, Uttar Pradesh, after both daughters married. The boy told his family that after getting lost returning from school in 2015, he reached Badarpur in Delhi, where Mangal took him to Faridabad. He lived first with Mangal, then with Mangal's brother Raju Kumar, receiving no formal education. Mangal, who is childless and estranged from his wife, kept the boy without attempting to locate his family. Faridabad police initially struggled to verify the teenager's identity with Noida authorities. 'Due to lack of support from local police, we returned and asked the boy to identify the place where he went missing,' said ASI Phogat. Eventually, Phase 2 SHO Vindyachal Tiwari assisted the investigation. 'We checked all records from the last 10 years, but due to name changes, it was difficult to find the exact case,' Tiwari said. 'After extensive checking, we found similarities and contacted the complainant.' A missing person report was filed at Phase 2 police station on November 8, 2015. After seven years of investigation without success, the case was closed on December 20, 2022. The parents arrived from Manipur Tuesday morning for the emotional reunion. 'They were so happy to see him,' the brother said. 'We had responded to every child recovery identification since 2015.' The case highlights both the challenges of long-term missing person investigations and the importance of inter-district police cooperation in resolving such cases.

Former finance staff held for 51L loan fraud
1 2 Pune: A 35-year-old finance manager working with a private company was shocked after receiving a notice from a private bank about EMI payment default on a loan of Rs 18 lakh, which he never applied for. When he checked with the bank, it was found that someone obtained the loan from the bank by preparing fake documents in the victim's name in October last year. He approached the Pimpri Chinchwad police and lodged a complaint. A team of Pimpri Chinchwad cyber police took action and traced Yuvraj Tivade (41) of Pimple Saudagar, who obtained the loan using the finance manager's name. "Investigations revealed that Tivade obtained a loan of Rs 51 lakh using fake documents. We also found loan applications of 20 people with him, which he prepared using fake documents," senior police inspector Ravikiran Nale of the Pimpri Chinchwad cyber police told TOI. Assistant police inspector Pravin Swami of the Pimpri Chinchwad cyber police told TOI that the complainant, Tivade, was working with a private finance firm's loan section. He knew about the documents required for obtaining a loan. "Tivade used to visit cyber cafes where people went to get printouts of their PAN cards and other documents. Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Capital Gains Exemptions for Seniors SmartAsset Learn More Undo To get printouts, people either shared the documents through a mobile messenger app or through email with the email IDs or mobile number of the person running the cafe, but did not bother to delete them," Swami said. He said that Tivade took advantage of this and accessed PAN or other details from the data on the computers at the cyber cafes. "He then contacted customer care of UIDAI by posing as the PAN card holder and obtained the Aadhaar number connected to that card," he said. Swami said that by using the PAN and Aadhaar details of that particular person, he prepared fake documents required to get a personal loan. "By using this modus operandi, Tivade obtained loans collectively worth Rs 51 lakh in the names of three persons," Swami said. The officer said that in the case registered with the Chinchwad police, it was found that Tivade submitted the loan application without any photograph, the address was fake, and he also prepared a fake salary slip in the victim's name. "Tivade even opened an account in the victim's name, where the loan amount was disbursed," the officer said. Swami said that Tivade was handed over to the Chinchwad police for further investigations.

Faridabad: Man jumps before train with 4 kids after fight with wife
A 45-year-old man allegedly died by suicide along with his four minor sons on Tuesday by jumping before a moving train in Ballabhgarh, Faridabad, following a domestic dispute over suspected infidelity, investigators said. The deceased, a daily wage worker from Sitamarhi, Bihar, lived in Subhash Colony, around 300 metres from the railway tracks where the incident took place. His sons were aged three, five, nine, and 10 years, according to railway police. The tragic incident came to light at 1.20pm on Tuesday, when the loco pilot of Golden Temple Mail alerted authorities after witnessing the man and four children jump before the train near the railway overbridge on GT Road at Alson Chowk. Inspector Raj Pal, station house officer of Faridabad Government Railway Police, said the impact of the crash was so brutal that human remains were scattered 100-200 meters after being struck by the train. Locals, the inspector said, had observed the man and his sons sitting along the tracks for over 30 minutes before the incident. 'He had purchased chips and cold drinks for his sons before jumping with them, which several locals witnessed,' SHO Pal said. Police recovered the man's Aadhaar card and his wife's phone number written on paper from his clothing. He had told his wife he was taking the children to a park but instead went to the railway tracks, police said. The tragedy followed a morning argument between the couple over the man's apparent suspicions about his wife having an affair. 'The wife said he would quarrel even if she spoke to her brother or other family members, suspecting she was speaking to someone else,' Pal said. Investigators said that the bodies of all five victims have been preserved at Faridabad Civil Hospital mortuary and will be handed over to family members expected to arrive from Bihar on Wednesday. An inquiry under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita is being conducted.
