Perth Nowa day ago

A 15-year-old girl who was killed when the car she was in with five other teenagers rolled in the South West has been remembered for her ability to bring a 'ray of sunshine everywhere she went'.
Caitlyn Bragger was a passenger in a Toyota Landcruiser driving on Scarp Road near the intersection of Hoffman Road, in Hoffman, east of Yarloop, when it left the road, rolling several times on Saturday night.
Police say the car was being driven by a 16-year-old boy.
He was taken by ambulance to Bunbury Regional Hospital along with a 17-year-old boy for treatment of serious injuries. An 18-year-old boy and two 16-year-old girls were treated for minor injuries.
Caitlyn's loved ones have launched a fundraiser in the wake of the tragedy.
'It is with heavy hearts we share, that on the 7th of June we suddenly and tragically lost our beautiful girl Caitlyn,' Mekayla Cowcher wrote.
'Gone way too soon at the young age of only 15.
'She was a daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, aunty and friend. She bought a ray of sunshine everywhere she went, so outgoing and never left a dull moment in life. Known for her kindness, unique sense of humour, and devotion to her family and friends.' Caitlyn Bragger was a passenger in a Toyota Landcruiser that rolled several times on Saturday night. Ms Cowcher said Caitlyn's family was now left 'broken and in pieces, lost and confused'.
'No one ever expects something like this to happen, you can't prepare yourself,' she said.
The fundraiser has been launched to help cover the teenager's funeral expenses.
'Every donation, no matter the amount will go directly towards giving our girl Caitlyn the dignified farewell she deserves. We never expected to say goodbye to her beautiful soul so soon,' Ms Cowcher wrote.
'We're so grateful for your love, support, and any contribution you can make during this difficult time. If you're unable to donate, sharing this with others means the world to us.
'Forever 15, forever in our memory and hearts. Our Angel In Heaven.'
Witnesses Kane, Rocquo, Macy, and Jett were camping near the area the incident when they saw the horror crash.
'We just saw their lights go through the bush, and then just bang and it was just screams after that,' they said.
The four friends rushed to the aid of the crash victims.
'So we just all went up there, and just, it was just a mess. It was pieces everywhere, like everyone was just bleeding,' Rocquo said.
'We were trying to pick the roof up, we were trying to open the doors, like, trying to get everyone out, but you just, you can't you can't pick it up. You can't do anything. And it's just sad.'
The witnesses said the roof of the car had completely caved in.

Caitlyn Bragger's family say they ‘hold no hate' after teen killed in 4WD crash in WA

The family of a 15-year-old girl tragically killed in a car rollover near a popular camping ground say they 'hold no hate in our hearts' for the driver involved in what they describe as a 'tragic accident.' Caitlyn Bragger was one of six teenagers in a Toyota Landcruiser that crashed on Scarp Road in Hoffman, in WA 's South West, on Saturday night. The car rolled several times, police said, and Caitlyn died at the scene from her injuries. In a compassionate message to the driver — who has not been charged — the grieving teen's family said they hope he can heal. 'We want to make it clear that we hold no hate in our hearts toward the driver,' relatives said in a statement on Tuesday. 'What happened was a tragic accident, and we know in our hearts that Caitlyn would have forgiven him, just as she always led with love and understanding. 'We understand that people make mistakes and poor decisions — and sadly, some carry unimaginable consequences. 'He now has to live with the weight of this. Our hope is that he finds healing, just as we try to do the same.' Caitlyn's family said the teen was a 'ray of sunshine in every room she entered.' 'Caitlyn was a beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, aunty, and friend,' they said. 'She was vibrant, outgoing, and full of life. There was never a dull moment with Caitlyn. Her presence lit up every space and brought warmth to every heart. 'Known for her unwavering kindness, unique sense of humour, and deep love for her family and friends, Caitlyn made a lasting impression on everyone she met.' Caitlyn's legacy They said the teen had a passion for all things outdoors — 'whether it was camping, four-wheel-driving, or spending time at the beach.' 'Those moments brought her true joy,' loved ones said. 'Her presence brought comfort, laughter, and joy to so many. 'Though her time with us was far too short, her spirit will live on in the memories we cherish and the lives she touched. 'Caitlyn's legacy is one of love, laughter, and light — a beautiful soul who will never be forgotten. 'Love you, miss you.' A karaoke event called Raise Your Voice For Caitlyn will be held at the Australind Tavern on Friday night to help raise funds for the family. .

EXCLUSIVE: Inside the home Pheobe Bishop shared with her alleged killers

The house Pheobe Bishop lived in with her alleged killers has been at the centre of controversy since she went missing more than three weeks ago. Now the landlords of the house in Gin Gin — a rural town about 50km west of Bundaberg, Queensland — have opened their doors to 7NEWS cameras. WATCH THE VIDEO ABOVE: Inside the home Pheobe Bishop shared with her alleged killers. The owners, who had previously lived in the home when they first married and started a family, say they are still in shock at its condition now. It comes after human remains believed to belong to Bishop were discovered in dense bushland in an area of Good Night Scrub Park, south of Gin Gin, on Friday afternoon. Bishop, 17, from Bundaberg, had been missing since May 15. She had been preparing to fly to Western Australia to visit her boyfriend but failed to check in at Bundaberg Airport. The Gin Gin home she shared with two other people was among several crime scenes involved in initial investigation into her disappearance. Bishop's housemates James Wood, 34, and Tanika Bromley, 33, have now been charged with one count of murder and two counts of interfering with a corpse. Bromley had taken out the lease on the Gin Gin house only six months ago, the landlords told 7NEWS. Footage taken by 7NEWS shows the floor of the home covered in rubbish, clothing and dog faeces. Police confirmed a number of dogs had been found dead at the property, although it is not know how they died. The footage also shows items the landlord described as gel blasters — which are legal in Queensland — propped up against one of the bedroom walls. The 7NEWS footage also shows doors and walls with hastily patched holes and broken locks — all damage which the landlords say was not there before Bromley and Wood moved in. The landlords said the home had previously been a place of joy, peace and comfort for them — a stark contrast to what 7NEWS cameras captured. The landlords said the property had previously been their own happy family home. Credit: 7NEWS 'The air tastes dirty and it smells just … I don't know how people can be breathing in this,' the landlord said. 'A rubbish dump's probably cleaner. 'I just can't understand how someone can live in conditions like this. 'It's overwhelming what you see. Where do you even begin? What do you do?' The landlords believe it will cost between $10,000 to $15,000 to clean up and fix the damaged home, including the use of skip bins to remove rubbish. 'Insurance excess, repairs, the unlivable state of the interior, and the large amount of rubbish items to clean and remove are overwhelming,' they posted to a GoFundMe trying to help cover costs. 7NEWS footage from inside the home. Credit: 7NEWS They said Bromley was about to be evicted from the home after it failed its last inspection, saying she had already been given notice to leave. It was alleged she had then cut off all contact with the property manager. The landlords said they met Bromley years ago, at which time had ticked all the boxes as a tenant. On Monday evening, hundreds of people attended a second candle-lit vigil in two days paying tribute to Bishop near her family home in Bundaberg. Her older sister, Kaylea Bishop, made an emotional plea for people to appreciate their siblings, no matter what. 'Don't take it for granted, just cherish it,' she said. 'Love the good and the bad. Worship it all. Capture the memories.' — With Michael Hammond

Caitlyn Bragger, 15, was killed in a crash that injured five other teens travelling in a 4WD when it rolled south of Perth

A 15-year-old girl who was killed in a 4WD that rolled on the weekend has been remembered as an angel who brought sunshine with her everywhere she went. Caitlyn Bragger, 15, was a passenger in a Toyota Landcruiser carrying five other teenagers when it rolled off Scarp Rd in Hoffman, 150km south of Perth, about 8pm on Saturday. Volunteer firefighters freed one of the passengers who was trapped in the wreckage. The 16-year old male driver and a 17-year-old male passenger were seriously injured in the crash and were rushed to Bunbury Hospital. Three other passengers were treated for minor injuries. The group had been camping nearby when the crash occurred with witnesses saying the car had been crushed like a tin can. 'It was scary to see,' one man said. Family friend Mekayla Cowcher paid tribute to the 15-year-old girl 'gone way too soon' and setup a fundraiser to help the family with funeral costs. She said Caitlyn's family were left broken, lost and confused. '(Caitlyn was) known for her kindness, unique sense of humour, and devotion to her family and friends,' she said. 'She bought a ray of sunshine everywhere she went, so outgoing and never left a dull moment in life. ' No one ever expects something like this to happen, you can't prepare yourself. 'We never expected to say goodbye to her beautiful soul so soon. 'Forever 15, forever in our memory and hearts. Our Angel In Heaven.' WA's road toll has reached 87 lives, the highest number of deaths in more than a decade. Premier Roger Cook told media it was an unacceptable figure that could be prevented it people did everything they could to keep themselves and others safe on the road. The premier said they were looking at what was working in other states and overseas and what technology was available to keep roads safer. 'That's why we've got our deep dive into our road safety measures at the moment, reviewing what else we can do as a government,' he said. Shadow Road Safety Minister Julie Freeman said it was a heartbreaking and unacceptable milestone. 'Regional road deaths continue to make up a disproportionate share of the toll,' she said. 'These are our communities. We're on the ground, we're working with regional organisations, and we need to be part of finding solutions. 'We need a coordinated, bipartisan effort to turn this around, because too many lives depend on it.'
