Employee leaves boss speechless with scathing response after getting laid off from her job

Daily Mail23-05-2025

A woman is being praised for roasting her boss during a layoff call that has now racked up millions of views on TikTok.
Karson Bree, a graphic designer and digital creator, shared the now-viral footage of her being laid off from a local magazine job she held for less than three months.
In the video, which has more than 2.3 million views and counting, Karson sat on a Zoom call with two senior staffers and a HR rep whose faces have been blurred out.
She is then told her employment is being 'terminated effective immediately.'
When she asked why, she was met with an awkward silence - nearly 10 seconds of no one knowing what to say - before it was stated: 'The publication went out late, it went out with typos, and we just feel that the design wasn't necessarily a good fit for the publication.'
But Karson didn't take that quietly and immediately pushed back: 'Every step along the way I have met my requirements and quiet honestly a lot of the reasonings as to why it was late was dependent upon you.'
Citing the reasons she believed to be behind the chaos, she listed late materials, lack of access to essential accounts, and radio silence from her boss when she asked for support.
'I received very little feedback from you,' she said directly to her manager (who we find out is named Julie), 'and there were many times I reached out with no reply whatsoever.'
TikTok users showed support for Karson, praising her for speaking up
She also pointed out the unprofessionalism of getting a message at 11pm the night before informing her of the layoff - and then having her work access revoked immediately.
And she didn't stop there, adding: 'I feel like I've done every step of the way of trying to do this job to the best of my abilities and quite frankly you have made it very difficult...
'If you guys want to maintain a good team, you need to make sure your leadership also possesses the strengths needed to produce a well-designed magazine.'
Despite being reminded the meeting was 'not about Julie,' Karson took the opportunity to tell her: 'Since starting, my biggest frustration was working with you. I want that to be known.'
She then ended the call with a perfectly cold sign-off: 'It's been lovely working with you, Kendall. I cannot say the same for you, Julie. Have a great day.'
In the comment section, thousands praised her professionalism, honesty, and ability to advocate for herself in real-time.
'That was so embarrassing for them,' one TikTok user wrote.
'The awkward silence when you asked them questions spoke volumes. They clearly didn't have any reason to terminate you,' another user chimed in.
Other users shared their own toxic experiences with the corporate world
'This must have been such a hard call. You handled yourself like a leader on this call - your former leadership evidently did not,' said another.
Other TikTok users shared their own frustrations about the corporate world.
'I'm so tired of employers not being able to provide solid reasons to why they are letting people go especially with no prior infractions,' one user shared.
'Not gonna lie, this is almost word for word how I got let go from my job and word for word how I confronted them,' someone else added.
'I'm so glad I'm not the only one that had the courage to stand up to incompetent leadership.'

HAIM singer Este reveals a boyfriend once broke up with her over her health condition as the sisters share their dating horror stories for GQ cover

HAIM singer Este has revealed that a boyfriend once broke up with her over her health condition. Sisters Alana, Este and Danielle shared their dating horror stories as they starred on GQ's Heroes Issue cover on Tuesday for their summer edition. Este, 39, - who is now happily engaged to partner Jonathan Levin - reflected on some tough experiences with men in the past amid dealing with her Type 1 diabetes. She was diagnosed at age 14 and has spoken openly about the challenges of managing the condition, especially as a touring musician. She told the publication: 'I had a guy break up with me because I said that there was a possibility that our kid would have diabetes. 'He was like, 'Then why are we here?' And I was like, 'What?!' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Alana, 33, sympathised and shared a dating horror story herself, saying: 'I had a boyfriend that gave me an ultimatum between doing Licorice Pizza and staying with him. 'I obviously made the right choice...' She starred in the film Licorice Pizza 2021 as she made her film debut. In the interview Danielle also spoke about the things she learned about herself being single following her split from producer Ariel Rechtshaid. She said: 'That I'm OK alone. Not only OK, but so happy. Sorry to be that b**ch but I'm like, really having a great time being by myself. 'And now, unless someone's gonna make me so much more happy, I'm good.' Este and Jonathan got engaged in February of this year. At the time she took to Instagram to declare that she was off-the-market in a quirky selfie, flashing a massive square-cut diamond ring on her wedding finger. Though she did not caption the snap, her T-shirt said it all. She modeled a pastel blue tee that read 'I'm taken' in bedazzled lettering while appearing to be sitting in a bed. And while it is unknown how long the pal of Taylor Swift and the tech entrepreneur have been dating, the lovebirds have been seen together at several events including this year's Super Bowl game in New Orleans, Louisiana. Sharing the post to her 352K followers, the HAIM bandmember's fans flooded the comments in support of her and her now fiancé. Responding to a fan in the comments that wrote 'oh she's TAKEN taken,' the No Body No Crime vocalist said, 'TAKEN IS RIGHT.' Later that day, the performer shared another post of herself showing off her half-moon tattoo on her chest, seemingly shading her former flames. 'f*ck all my exes,' she penned in the caption. The week before the star took to her Instagram Story to wish her future husband a Happy Valentine's Day with a sweet screenshot of them on Face Time. 'happy valentine's day, i love you j,' she penned over the snap. While she and her sisters Danielle, 35, and Alana - who are her HAIM bandmates - typically keep a low profile, Este has previously gotten candid about her journey with 'self-love.' She told The Cut in 2023: 'I don't think I truly understood self-love until the last three or four years. 'There's an air of confidence that comes from just loving yourself, the good and the bad.' The star — who was an opener alongside her sisters on Taylor Swift's Eras Tour — also previously revealed the importance of surrounding oneself with strong female influences. The blonde beauty specifically praised Swift, 35, for being a good support system when she just needs a friend to talk to. 'She's a true genius, and she's also, like, the best friend and the best hang,' she said of the Cruel Summer singer. 'We had an amazing time at the U.S. Open ... yeah I would do that like a jillion times over again. That was so much fun,' she added. Este did not tag Jonathon nor did she reveal any further details into her plans to exchange nuptials with her man. The Heroes Issue of British GQ is available via digital download and on newsstands on June 10.

Trump denies claims he was rejected from Harvard in late-night TruthSocial tirade

President Donald Trump has furiously denied claims that he was rejected from Harvard. Trump lashed out at Michael Wolff, the biographer who made the claim and has written about the president extensively, in a Truth Social post Monday evening. 'Michael Wolff, a Third Rate Reporter, who is laughed at even by the scoundrels of the Fake News, recently stated that the only reason I'm 'beating up' on Harvard, is because I applied there, and didn't get in,' Trump said. 'That story is totally FALSE, I never applied to Harvard. I graduated from the Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania,' Trump continued. ' He is upset because his book about me was a total 'BOMB.' Nobody wanted it, because his 'reporting' and reputation is so bad!' It comes as the Trump administration has been accused of waging a 'campaign of retribution' against the university. Wolff presented his theory about the president last week on The Daily Beast Podcast to host Joanna Coles. 'It's also odd because so many of the people around Donald Trump went to Ivy League universities. Several of them went to Harvard Business School,' Joanna Coles pointed out. 'Obviously, JD Vance proudly went to Yale. So it does seem particularly odd, but perhaps he's also trying to stuff it to them.' 'It's important not to lend too much calculation and planning to anything he does,' Wolff responded. 'But the other thing is that, by the way, he didn't get into Harvard. So one of the Trump things is always holding a grudge against the Ivy Leagues.'

What liking the colour pink REALLY says about your personality

People who like the colour pink tend to have 'a childlike innocence in their hearts' - but can also be 'fragile' and 'need to learn to be strong', according to a top psychologist. In the 1940s, Swiss psychologist Max Lucier formulated a test inspired by the thesis that if two people share the same favourite colour they may share personality traits. His theories have recently surged in popularity due to TikThought, a popular US TikTok account which shares videos addressing a wide range of psychological questions - both serious and lighthearted. In a recent video on the account explains the theory that the colour pink, commonly associated with 'soft marshmallows, princess-like dreams and romantic warmth', is indicative of 'a childlike innocence' that, in turn, makes those who like the colour appear 'pure and harmless'. The video says that those who favour pink tend to have 'an easygoing and kind personality'. They are friendly people who are 'compassionate' and like looking after their friends and family. It also explained that those who like pink have a 'gentle temperament' often makes others want to protect them. When it comes to their love lives, those who prefer pink to other colours tend to be romantics who 'long for a life full of love and harmony'. They might crave a love that is reminiscent of fairytales while they are universally seen as 'considerate and delicate little angels' by friends. But, according to TikThought, those who love pink may also struggle as a result of their 'delicate' temperament. The can be especially sensitive to what other people say or do and may feel bruised by the slightest criticism or a little neglect. They can equally be dreamers who 'immerse themselves in their own fantasy world and escape the edge of reality.' Being prone to fantasy, they might encounter more disappointment than others when reality fails to match up to what they have imagined. 'When reality is not as good as expected, they will feel at a loss,' TikThought added. Compared to a crystal ball, those who are drawn to pink offer clarity but are also fragile. 'They touch people's hearts with their kindness and simplicity but they also need to learn to be strong and take good care of their sensitive souls,' the video concludes. A number of TikThought's fans were convinced by the picture the account painted of someone who loves pink. One person commented: 'This is ODDLY specific to me'. Another agreed: 'A little too accurate'. While a third, apparently referring to the video's claim that people who like pink are prone to fantasy, said: 'How did you know I do maladaptive daydreaming?' Yet, others were sceptical about TikThought's characterisation of people who prefer pink to other colours. One person said: 'I like pink but I'm soft hearted with anger issued. Another stated: 'I love pink but I am NOT a little angel bro'. Fans of TikThought who like the colour pink were quick to comment on the viral clip Not everyone, however, agrees that their is a link between someone's favourite colour and their personality traits. A study published in 2021 - titled What Does Your Favourite Colour Say About Your Personality? Not Much - looked into whether there was a connection between the two things. Following their testing, the authors concluded: 'Favourite colours appear unrelated to personality, failing to support the practical utility of colour-based personality assessment.'
