DKS announces launch of CityCat cleaning vehicle
Bengaluru: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Sunday announced the launch of a new, advanced CityCat cleaning vehicle for Bengaluru, as part of efforts to make the city cleaner and greener. He said the initiative reflects the government's commitment to improving the city's cleanliness and infrastructure.
In a post on X, DK Shivakumar wrote, 'Cleaner Bengaluru, Smarter Bengaluru. The all-new, state-of-the-art #CityCat vehicle is ready to roll out on Bengaluru's streets.'

Earlier on Saturday, explaining the Karnataka government's Yettinahole project, state Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said that the government has decided to deliver the Yettinahole water to Kolar by 2027.He mentioned that the forest department has discussed the project's issues. Land acquisition and financial issues related to the construction of a balanced reservoir in Bairagonda, Lakkenahalli, were also discussed in the meeting with the forest department.
DK Shivakumar said that the changes in the project would take place based on the suggestions of the ministers and asserted that he would study everything and raise the issue in the upcoming cabinet meeting.
'Our government's resolve is to deliver Yettinahole water to Kolar by 2027. We have already discussed the issues related to this project with the Forest Department, the land acquisition process, land acquisition and financial issues related to the construction of a balanced reservoir in Bairagonda, Lakkenahalli. Therefore, we visited the site of these works and inspected them. The changes in this project have been made based on the suggestions of the ministers. There are also some technical aspects here. I will study everything and raise this issue in the next cabinet meeting. I am not worried even if other projects are delayed, the CM has directed me to complete the Yettinahole project on priority', DK Shivakumar told reporters on Saturday.

Will act as per law on Cauvery aarti petition: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar

On May 24 addressing a press conference, Shivakumar stated that decisions to organise the Cauvery Aarti on a grand scale have allocated funds to support the initiative. Shivakumar announced that the government will launch a grand Cauvery Aarti program within 100 days. 'This is a matter of pride for us,' he said, adding that Rs 90 crore has been earmarked for the initiative. The Cauvery Aarti to be conducted every week on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, with participation from religious mutts across the state. Artists have been approached to compose a unity-themed devotional song for the occasion, and Shivakumar confirmed he has written to renowned music composers for their collaboration. On Cauvery aarti during Dasara Shivakumar said, 'The state government is preparing to do the Cauvery aarti programme along with the Dasara this time. Cauvery aarti will include programmes to represent the cultures of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The modalities are being worked out. 'We have formed a committee under the leadership of BWSSB Chief Ram Prasath. The DC of Mandya will also be part of this committee. Various departments such as Muzrai, Kannada and Culture, Irrigation, and Tourism departments will be involved in various aspects of Cauvery aarti,' he added. When asked about the Finance department's recommendation that it would be difficult to finance Cauvery aarti, he said, 'The final decision lies with the government, no matter what the recommendations are. The government is committed to starting the Cauvery aarti.' On the location of the Cauvery aarti venue, he said, 'This event would be held a little far from the dam keeping in mind security considerations. In his first public assignment since triggering outrage with his remarks against Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, who had briefed the media during Operation Sindoor, Madhya Pradesh Tribal Affairs Minister Kunwar Kunwar Vijay Shah has been deputed to Dewas by CM Mohan Yadav to assess the fallout of a controversial eviction drive inside the Kheoni Wildlife Sanctuary. Shah, who is now being investigated by a Supreme Court-ordered SIT, comprising senior police officers from the state, has been absent from the public eye after an FIR was registered against him for his comments referring to Colonel Qureshi as 'the sister of terrorists' during a public meeting in Mhow on May 11. Later, Shah had apologised thrice and was pulled up by the Supreme Court and the Madhya Pradesh High Court. Meanwhile, there has been unrest across Khategaon tehsil after the the Forest Department cleared on June 23, what it described as 'illegal encroachments', over 82 hectares of sanctuary land, demolishing kachha dwellings and houses reportedly built by tribal families. Officials claimed due process was followed, including the issuance of notices a month in advance. Tribal rights groups and political leaders have planned protests over the issue. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said, 'Referring to an incident involving Forest Department action in the Kheoni Wildlife Sanctuary area of Dewas, Minister for Tribal Affairs Shri Kunwar Vijay Shah has been directed to visit the site, assess the situation, and ensure every possible help is extended to the affected families.' Yadav said that the 'Forest Department has also been instructed to avoid any action that may cause inconvenience to people during the monsoon season. All welfare schemes in the state are being implemented following due procedure and ensuring that benefits reach the genuinely needy.' A demonstration had been planned on June 27, and another on June 29 by Jai Adivasi Yuva Shakti (JAYS). According to district officials, approximately 50 families are supposed to receive `20,000 each as compensation, along with a six-month ration supply and one month of cooked meals. Apart from this, housing scheme benefits and construction of a new road in the area were also promised. While tribal communities protested what they called 'arbitrary displacement', several Eco Development Committees held a counter-rally supporting the Forest Department, saying that their livelihoods depended on forest produce like mahua and tendu leaves, which were threatened by the alleged encroachment.
