Husband of missing pregnant woman admits he killed her during argument
SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawaii (KHON2) — The Army soldier involved in the disappearance of his wife, Mischa Johnson, appeared in a military courtroom for the first time on Tuesday, June 3.
During the hearing, Private First Class Dewayne Johnson, who is charged with his wife's murder, admitted he killed her during an argument in July 2024.

Nineteen-year-old Mischa Johnson was first reported missing in August 2024, prompting several searches by family and friends. She was six months pregnant at the time of her disappearance.
In Monday's hearing, PFC Johnson said that on July 12, Mischa accused him of cheating and threatened to keep him out of their baby's life.
He added that the argument made him 'overwhelmed with rage.' He then grabbed a machete he kept next to his bed and struck Mischa in the left temple.

PFC Johnson said he did want to hurt her, but he did not intend to kill her. He has not said what happened to Mischa's body.
Prosecutors and the defense counsel are working to finalize details of the plea agreement, where PFC Johnson has agreed to voluntary manslaughter instead of murder.
He faces several other charges in connection with Mischa's death, including obstruction of justice.

Victims from Miami's restaurant shooting encouraged to seek assistance from Victims Compensation Program
MIAMI, Okla. — Ottawa County District Attorney Doug Pewitt is offering individuals affected by a recent shooting at a Miami restaurant resources through the state's Crime Victims Compensation Program. 'People who may have been impacted by the May 31 active shooter situation at Mia Bella Italian Kitchen may be eligible for assistance through the Oklahoma Crime Victims Compensation Program,' said Pewitt. The state program covers unreimbursed expenses related to the crime, including medical, dental, and prescription costs, counseling and rehabilitation services, traditional healing, crime scene cleanup, work loss, services replacement, and mileage reimbursement for mental and medical appointments. The alleged shooter, Michael Anthony Cook III, 25, is charged in Ottawa County District Court in Miami with discharging a firearm into a dwelling, felony pointing a firearm, and two counts of shooting with intent to kill. He remains hospitalized after a shootout with Miami police, according to an arrest affidavit. 6-year-old boy dies tragically in rare balloon suffocation accident, coroner says

First responders were reportedly called to a home in Mount Carmel, Illinois, on May 29 where the boy, identified by family as Gunner Hyatt, was pronounced dead.
