Pro. Women's Soccer Team in Mass. Reveals New Club Brand
A new era of professional women's soccer continues to take shape in Massachusetts as the Boston Legacy Football Club unveiled the club brand this weekend. After a five-month design process led by graphic designer Matthew Wolff, the team revealed its new black, white, and green-colored crest to the public Saturday through an interactive event for fans on the Boston Common. The crest consists of a green shield, a white, stylized swan, and the word 'Boston' in black letters. Advertisement Boston Legacy FC Controlling Manager Jennifer Epstein said the swan, as the central symbol of the crest, seemed 'very appropriate to represent the values of our club, which are inclusivity, belonging, grit, and style.' The swan has eight feathers, the total number of teams that originally played in the National Women's Soccer League, including the Boston Breakers, which played its final soccer matches in 2017. The angle of the feathers is also a nod to the cables on the Leonard Zakim Bridge, an iconic piece of infrastructure in Boston. 'The crest in my mind is really the link between the city, and the fans, and the athletes,' said Stephanie Connaughton, one of Boston Legacy's co-founders and managing owners. The founders told Boston 25 News that it's now up to the fans to infuse meaning into the crest as a new generation of female athletes shines in the Bay State. Advertisement 'It is a new era in women's sports. You can see the excitement, the passion all across our country, and really, the world,' said Epstein. 'We are going to make sure that we are going to bring championships home to our fans,' said Ami Kuan Danoff, one of the club's founding partners. The Boston Legacy FC will start playing in the National Women's Soccer League in 2026. Home games will be played at Gillette Stadium for the first year, but by 2027, games will be played at the new White Stadium. Download the FREE Boston 25 News app for breaking news alerts. Yankees hitting coach James Rowson ejected vs. Red Sox for arguing balls and strikes
NEW YORK (AP) — New York Yankees hitting coach James Rowson was ejected in the fourth inning Saturday night against the Boston Red Sox for arguing balls and strikes. Rowson was frustrated by plate umpire Bruce Dreckman's strike zone and the situation escalated when the coach was upset by a called strike on Jasson Domínguez, whose at-bat ended with a strikeout. Advertisement On the second pitch of the at-bat, Rowson's yelling from the dugout prompted the ejection. Dreckman removed his mask, took a few steps towards New York's dugout and made the ejection signal. It was New York's fourth ejection this season and Rowson's third since becoming the Yankees' hitting coach last season. It was the fifth career ejection of Rowson's coaching career. The Yankees trailed 8-3 when Rowson was ejected and scored twice afterward. ___ AP MLB:

Clippers Named Potential Trade Suitor for Celtics' Derrick White
Clippers Named Potential Trade Suitor for Celtics' Derrick White originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Los Angeles Clippers have already been the subject of a report suggesting they would be interested in pursuing a guard from the Boston Celtics this offseason. Advertisement The guard in that report was Jrue Holiday, who could end up on the trade block as the Celtics try to reshape their roster for a season without Jayson Tatum. Now it seems there is another guard from the Celtics' roster who could also be of interested to the Clippers. Los Angeles Clippers coach Tyronn LueRobert Edwards-Imagn Images During a recent appearance on the Third Apron Podcast, CBS Sports' Sam Quinn said that the Clippers would make sense as a trade suitor for Celtics guard Derrick White. When the report came out about the Clippers being interested in Jrue Holiday, I wrote about why I didn't like that move. I would like this move a whole lot more for the Clippers. Advertisement While Holiday's talents mostly come on one end of the floor, White could help the Clippers on both ends. He is a strong defender, having earned All-Defensive honors in two of the last three seasons. He'd also give the Clippers another dependable option on offense. He averaged 16.4 points and 4.8 assists per game this past season. His three-point shooting would give the Clippers a boost in another area where they need it. He knocked down 3.5 threes per game this past season while shooting 38.4% from behind the arc. Meanwhile, the Clippers were near the bottom of the league in both three point attempts and made threes. Advertisement White wouldn't be a cheap option. He carries a $28.1 million cap hit into next season and it escalates each year after. He'd also require the Clippers to part with a decent amount of the little remaining draft capital they have available. Still, he'd be worth the price as a great fit to play alongside James Harden in the Clippers' backcourt.
