‘Wicked: For Good' Trailer: Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo Get Ready to Meet Dorothy
Oscar-nominated 'Wicked' stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo are ready to close out the musical epic for good. The duo reprise their respective roles of Glinda and Elphaba for Part Two, 'Wicked: For Good,' directed by Jon M. Chu. And this time, Oz will have a new visitor: Dorothy (Alisha Weir). 'Wicked: For Good' spans a series of years, beginning with Erivo's Elphaba AKA the Wicked Witch now being an enemy of the state. Glinda (formerly Galinda) is the spokesperson for Oz thanks to her appointment by the Wizard (Jeff Goldblum), with her former teacher Madame Morrible (Michelle Yeoh) literally singing her praises. Glinda also just might have a wedding on the horizon to Jonathan Bailey's Fiyero, despite him blatantly lusting after Elphaba. This all leads into when Dorothy's house flies into Oz and the iconic 'Wizard of Oz' character walks the yellow brick road. It went on to land 10 Oscar nominations, and winning for costume and production design. 'Wicked' also won the Golden Globe for cinematic and box office achievement. Director Chu told Vanity Fair that the two parts of 'Wicked' will feel like one complete epic film, despite them being released a year apart. 'What's nice about movie two is it's so different from movie one that it doesn't feel like we're talking about what you just saw. It's the new chapter,' Chu said, teasing of the plot, 'Our heart was broken when Glinda can't make the choice that we want her to so badly at the end of movie one, and it feels empowering for Elphaba to fly away from society. In movie two, we get to see the consequences of those choices. The temperature is up.' Chu added, 'We want to finish this story in the way that this beautiful memory of 'Wicked' can actually come full circle and can be with you for the rest of your life. We want you to look at both movies in the end, and feel like it was one all along.' Universal will release 'Wicked: For Good' in theaters November 21. Check out the trailer below. Wicked: For Good Is On Its Way—Here's the First Trailer
Good news! She's…baaaack! Yes, gentle reader, Wicked is returning and the first trailer has landed. Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande will reprise their roles as Elphaba and Glinda for act two of everyone's favorite musical, hitting a theater near you this fall. After the blockbuster release of Part One in November 2024—which ruled the box office and earned 10 Oscar nominations, along with a soundtrack that topped many a Spotify Wrapped—fans have been patiently waiting for the news of the second film. Will Elphie and Glinda reunite? What of Fiyero? Who will play Dorothy? Herein, everything you need to know about Wicked: For Good. Who's returning in the cast of Wicked: For Good? The main ensemble—Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West; Ariana Grande as Glinda the Good; Jonathan Bailey as Prince Fiyero; Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible; Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard; Ethan Slater as Boq; and Marissa Bode as Nessarose—will all return. Their stories are far from finished and there might be a couple of character changes along the way. And, an addition! Dorothy Gale, of the original Technicolor Wizard of Oz, might appear in some capacity. Eagle-eyed viewers will have spied her anonymous cameo at the beginning of Part One, and fans speculate she will be in For Good. But who will play her? It's tightly under wraps, though internet sleuths theorize that 15-year-old Irish actress Alisha Weir will be slipping on Dorothy's silver slippers. Weir played Matilda in Matilda the Musical (2022), and appeared at Wicked: Part One's UK premiere wearing a pair of silver ballet flats. Hmm… What's the plot of Wicked: For Good? 'What's nice about movie two is it's so different from movie one that it doesn't feel like we're talking about what you just saw. It's the new chapter,' said Jon M. Chu in a recent interview with Vanity Fair. The second act will follow the same story as the original Broadway version. Picking up where we left off in Part One, Elphaba and Glinda have parted ways: While Elphaba is in hiding, declared an enemy of the state of Oz, Glinda becomes a mouthpiece for the government, in the grips of the Wizard and Madame Morrible. Meanwhile, Fiyero, Glinda, and Elphaba's love triangle persists, and Nessarose and Boq's relationship hits the rocks. The trailer promises endless action, music and romance. What about the music in Wicked: For Good? For Good's soundtrack will be similar to the Broadway original's Act Two. Tracks like the titular 'For Good,' the dramatic 'No Good Deed,' and power ballad 'As Long as You're Mine' will be making an appearance. What's more? There are two new songs, written by composer Stephen Schwartz and performed by Erivo and Grande individually. 'They were necessary in this movie to help tell the story,' said Chu. When will Wicked: For Good be released? November 21! So until then, hold space for a comically long press tour, more method dressing, and tears-a-plenty. Where can I watch the trailer for Wicked: For Good? Right here!

Jonathan Bailey says Wicked sequel is ‘darker' and will ‘go there politically'
Actor Jonathan Bailey has said the Wicked sequel is 'darker' and is 'going to go there politically as well'. The Bridgerton star, 37, plays Prince Fiyero in the films, also starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, which are adapted from the musical of the same name. 'Being slightly off the M1 in Munchkinland, with Ari singing a beautiful mezzo soprano, and then seeing cars pulling up on the hard shoulder trying to record it, and then seeing men in the sky, (which) turned out to be microlights and drones, it was like Independence Day,' he told British GQ. View this post on Instagram A post shared by British GQ (@britishgq) He added: 'I remember having four hours to learn how to do a dance move. I did it with Ari, headbutted her, and was like, 'Gotta go!'. 'I think she might have even headbutted me, but it was a meeting of minds, literally.' Wicked's next instalment will arrive in cinemas in the UK and Ireland from November 21 and will cover the years after Elphaba, played by Erivo, parted ways with her friend Glinda (Grande). Wicked: For Good will also show Elphaba being demonised by those in Oz, and transformed into The Wicked Witch Of The West. The films have been adapted from the musical, which was based on Gregory Maguire's 1995 novel – which was in turn inspired by the story first told in L Frank Baum's 1900 children's novel, later adapted into the 1939 film starring Judy Garland as Dorothy Gale. Bailey said: 'It's darker, and I've got a sense it's going to go there politically as well. 'Fiyero's arc really kicks off and he literally is transformed by the end.' Other stars of Wicked include Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, and US actor Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard. View this post on Instagram A post shared by British GQ (@britishgq) Both Bailey and Goldblum are part of the Jurassic Park franchise. Goldblum played Dr Ian Malcolm in the original 1993 adventure/sci-fi while Bailey stars as Dr Henry Loomis in Jurassic World: Rebirth, which is yet to be released. 'We'll see how it goes, but there might be a few films down the line where me and him can appear in Jurassic together,' Bailey said. He added: 'Dr Ian Malcolm and Dr Henry Loomis on a night out.' Bailey stars on the cover of the summer Heroes issue of British GQ and will be speaking at the GQ Heroes conference, taking place at Soho Farmhouse, Oxfordshire from July 2 to 4. The Heroes Issue of British GQ is available via digital download and on newsstands on June 10.
