Paul defeated Chavez via unanimous decision, winning by scorecards of 99-91, 97-93 and 98-92.
With his victory over Chavez, Paul is now on a six-fight winning streak. His most recent win before Saturday was his decision victory over Mike Tyson in November 2024. With his win over Chavez, the 28-year-old Paul is eligible to be ranked at cruiserweight by the WBC.
"The WBC ratings committee has been following Jake Paul's career," WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman told ESPN before the fight. "If he defeats Chavez, and depending on how the fight plays out, the committee will make the decision. It's very likely [Paul will be ranked] if he wins convincingly."
After his win over Chavez, Paul called for potential fights with Gilberto Ramirez, Badou Jack, Anthony Joshua, and Gervonta 'Tank' Davis. He also named the one man who has beaten him, Tommy Fury, as a potential foe.
Paul's manager, Nakisa Bidarian, spoke about what could be next for Paul after the Chavez contest.
"I think that's the main one that we talk a lot about is, if it's not for the title, it's looking at Tommy if he's reasonable and then Anthony Joshua," Bidarian said (via MMA Junkie). "And he's adamant that he wants to make that fight happen at the end of 2026."
"That's the criticism: 'Fight someone in their prime who's a beast.' I think people just want to see me lose," Paul added. "That's really what the message is behind it all. Anthony Joshua is an insane fight, but I want that challenge. We've been DM'ing back and forth, he wants to make it happen, he called me up, and it's looking very likely for next year."
"I'm definitely not a heavyweight, but I'm still gonna take the challenge," Paul continued. "But you look at Deontay Wilder, he was beating these guys weighing 215 pounds. Anything is possible. Granted, he's like 6-6 or something, but anything is possible. And so I like the challenge."

EA Sports announces NCAA Basketball series return

Just days before its second college football title release in over a decade, EA Sports just announced it's getting back into the college basketball world too. The successful return of the NCAA College Football franchise, now called EA Sports College Football, prompted calls from the sports video gaming community to bring back the college hoops franchise. However, fans of both franchises knew that the last NCAA March Madness title sold just over 150,000 units, compared to 1.5 million copies of NCAA Football 14 being sold. Blake Griffin was the last cover athlete for the series, which died in 2010. Advertisement A lot has changed in the basketball video game space since then, though. EA Sports lost the NBA title war to 2K, largely due to the innovations made to the MyPlayer mode and online play, only for the victor to grow stale and leave fans wanting more. The plague of micro-transactions that has taken over the sports video game genre has also hurt the NBA 2K series. Ironically enough, EA Sports, which is known for abusing micro-transactions in most sports games under its label, got a pass from the community despite implementing the same pay-to-win system in its Ultimate Team mode. That's because the outcry for a return of the beloved franchise mode silenced most of the critics. If everyone is happy, no one is complaining. There isn't the same nostalgic affinity for the March Madness series, but college basketball fans are going to check out the game regardless. Whether it has the same longevity as the newly revitalized football series remains to be seen. A robust recruiting system upgrade is needed and a dynamic MyCareer mode, where players can create a player, be recruited and play through a college basketball career, is also on most wishlists. Advertisement While there is limited information on the game, updates should come after the launch of the NCAA Football 26 game in early July. Aces acquire NaLyssa Smith from Wings in exchange for 2027 first-round pick

The Las Vegas Aces are eager to make some noise in the playoffs after falling short of their third consecutive championship last season. The team made a bold move in that direction Monday, acquiring NaLyssa Smith in a trade with the Dallas Wings. Smith, who was named to the All-Rookie team in 2022, was in the midst of her first season with Dallas after beginning her career with the Indiana Fever. Through 18 games with the Wings, Smith averaged 6.7 points and 4.9 rebounds. Those figures are much lower compared to her stats with the Fever, where she averaged 13.0 points and 8.0 rebounds over her first three seasons in the WNBA. Raheem Mostert blasts Dolphins' treatment of Jalen Ramsey, Jonnu Smith

The Dolphins traded cornerback Jalen Ramsey and tight end Jonnu Smith to the Steelers today, and a former Dolphin says that trade reflects how Miami isn't a place that appreciates top talent. Raheem Mostert, the running back who played three seasons in Miami and was a Pro Bowler in 2023, wrote on social media that the Dolphins getting rid of Ramsey and Smith continues a trend of top players being treated poorly by the franchise. Advertisement "Hot take: Be a Pro-bowler on the Dolphins, get treated like sh*t. Happy for my guys though! GO BALL OUT!!" Mostert wrote. Mostert was released by the Dolphins in February and signed with the Raiders in March. The Dolphins have made a point this offseason of moving on from veteran players, and as one of those veteran players Mostert doesn't appreciate that approach.
