Iran says Trump could end conflict with Israel with one phone call
An Iranian presidential official claimed on Friday that the United States holds the power to stop the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel with a single phone call — if it chooses to act.Speaking to CNN, presidential adviser Majid Farahani urged President Donald Trump to pressure Israel to halt its aerial bombardments, saying such action could pave the way for renewed diplomatic talks.advertisement'President Trump can easily stop the war by only one telephone (call) to the Israelis,' Farahani said. 'Iran believes in civilian dialogue. Directly or indirectly is not important. But as long as the bombings continue, there can be no negotiations.'
Farahani's comments came as Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi travelled to Geneva for high-level talks with European foreign ministers, even as he reiterated that no meaningful engagement with Washington was possible unless Israel first halted its attacks. It was the first face-to-face meeting between Western and Iranian officials since the start of the conflict. Britain's foreign secretary said after several hours of talks Friday between top European diplomats and their Iranian counterparts that the Europeans are 'keen to continue ongoing discussions and negotiations with Iran.'Foreign Secretary David Lammy said the Europeans were clear in talks in Geneva that Iran 'cannot have a nuclear weapon.' German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul said that 'very serious talks' were held Friday with Iran's Abbas Araghchi. The European ministers gave few details and took no questions.Inputs from Associated PressMust Watch

India to evacuate citizens of Nepal, Sri Lanka from war-hit Iran
The Indian Embassy in Iran has said that the embassy will make efforts to evacuate citizens of Nepal and Sri Lanka. The embassy noted that the efforts will be made at the request of the Governments of Nepal and Sri Lanka. Indian students reach an airport to board a flight from Armenia to New Delhi, under Operation Sindhu facilitated by the Government of India in view of the Israel-Iran conflict. (Randhir Jaiswal - X) "On request of the Governments of Nepal and Sri Lanka, the Indian Embassy's evacuation efforts in Iran will also cover Citizens of Nepal and Sri Lanka," the Indian Embassy in Iran posted on X. The Indian government has launched Operation Sindhu to evacuate Indian nationals from Iran, given the deteriorating situation as a result of the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel. Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) official spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said on Saturday that, so far, 517 Indian nationals have returned to India from Iran under Operation Sindhu. Jaiswal stated that a special flight from Turkmenistan's Ashgabat carrying Indians from Iran arrived in New Delhi on June 21. In a post on X, Jaiswal stated, "Operation Sindhu continues. A special evacuation flight from Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, landed in New Delhi at 0300 hrs on 21st June, bringing Indians from Iran home. With this, so far 517 Indian nationals from Iran have returned home under Operation Sindhu." The conflict between Israel and Iran entered its ninth day on Saturday. The conflict started after Israel, on June 13, launched a massive airstrike on Iranian military and nuclear sites, dubbed "Operation Rising Lion". In response, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched a large-scale drone and missile operation, 'Operation True Promise 3', targeting Israeli fighter jet fuel production facilities and energy supply centres. It is pertinent to note here that it is not the first time that the Indian government has launched an operation to evacuate citizens from another country. Earlier in 2023, India launched Operation Kaveri to evacuate its citizens during violent military clashes in Sudan. India had launched Operation Ajay to evacuate Indian nationals from Israel during the Israel-Hamas conflict in 2023. Operation Ganga was launched by the Indian government in 2022 to evacuate Indian nationals when war erupted between Russia and Ukraine. Earlier in 2021, the Indian government launched Operation Devi Shakti to evacuate Indian citizens from Afghanistan after the Taliban takeover. India launched Operation Samudra Setu to evacuate Indians through the sea during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. India launched Operation Raahat to evacuate citizens after civil conflict erupted in Yemen in 2015. Earlier in 2011, India launched Operation Safe Homecoming to evacuate Indian nationals during the civil war in the Arab Spring in Libya.

Middle East tensions: Israel in ‘constant contact' with India; says Israeli envoy on civilian evacuation
NEW DELHI: As tensions continue to rise between Israel and Iran, Israeli Ambassador to India Reuven Azar has said that his country remains in 'constant contact' with ministry of external affairs (MEA) regarding the safety and evacuation of Indian nationals from Israel. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now In an interview with PTI Videos on Friday, Ambassador Azar said, 'We are in constant contact with the MEA on all subjects that have to do with the evacuation of civilians. We've been cooperating since the beginning of the war, and this cooperation continues.' He added, 'Whatever message we get from the Indian government, we take it very seriously in order to make sure that all Indian citizens are safe.' The comments follow India's decision to evacuate its citizens from Israel on Thursday after an Iranian missile struck a hospital in the Beersheba region. The MEA issued a statement saying that Indian nationals wishing to leave would be assisted through land routes and then flown back to India. The Indian Embassy in Israel has been issuing regular advisories urging nationals to take precautions. On Wednesday, India launched 'Operation Sindhu' to evacuate its citizens from Iran amid the worsening security situation in the region. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal confirmed on Saturday that a total of 517 Indian nationals had been brought back from Iran under Operation Sindhu so far. A special flight from Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, landed in New Delhi early on June 21 carrying evacuees. The conflict, now in its ninth day, began on June 13 with Israel's 'Operation Rising Lion,' a large-scale offensive targeting Iran's nuclear and military infrastructure. Iran responded with 'Operation True Promise 3,' striking Israeli energy sites. Ambassador Azar had earlier told reporters that Israel would continue to act to 'degrade' Iran's missile and nuclear capabilities, though he hoped for a diplomatic resolution. With the situation remaining volatile, India's evacuation efforts from both Israel and Iran are expected to continue in coordination with authorities in both countries.
