Aamir Khan Says He Still Believes In Marriage: ‘I Could've Faked It With Kiran, But Didn't'
Last Updated: Aamir Khan was previously married to Reena Dutta, with whom he shares two children - Ira and Junaid. He later married filmmaker Kiran Rao, and the two co-parent their son Azad. Aamir Khan is currently promoting his upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par, but the actor recently got candid about his personal life in an interview with Zoom. The 59-year-old star reflected on his two divorces and his current relationship with Gauri Spratt. Speaking about the emotional toll of separation, Aamir said, 'In India, marriage is a very serious thing. When your marriage breaks, you go to divorce, and people don't like that. Emotionally, they don't like it either. I know that too, and I also believe that marriage is a very important thing and shouldn't be taken lightly. I completely agree with that. That's why I can present this matter truthfully in front of people, and I should. I do speak the truth that I was married to Reena, but we can no longer stay married, or I was married to Kiran, and now we can no longer stay married. So, it's a loss for all of us. Our families are not happy with this and we are also not doing it happily." Aamir further added that pretending to be in a happy marriage would have been dishonest. 'I can pretend that Kiran and I are happy together and we can live like that our whole lives and personally, I can do whatever I want, she can do whatever she wants, but in the eyes of the world, we are still married. We can live like that too, but that would be a lie." In a moment of lightheartedness, the actor added with a smile, 'Shaadi me main kamyab nahi hua hun, lekin divorce me main hua hoon (I wasn't successful in marriage, but I've been successful in divorce)." The actor also said that he still believes in the institution of marriage. 'It's a very old institution and I have the deepest regard in my heart for this institution. It's a very beautiful feeling. I would want that every person gets to experience this," he added. Aamir Khan was previously married to Reena Dutta, with whom he shares two children – Ira and Junaid. He later married filmmaker Kiran Rao, and the two co-parent their son Azad. In March this year, on his 60th birthday, Aamir made headlines by publicly introducing his girlfriend Gauri Spratt to the media in Mumbai. The couple has since made several appearances together. Aamir Khan BREAKS Silence On Retirement Rumours: ‘Mahabharata Won't Be My Last Film'
Last Updated: Aamir Khan had spoken passionately about Mahabharata, calling it layered, emotional, and vast in scale. Aamir Khan has finally addressed the swirling rumours that he might retire after making Mahabharata, a passion project he has spoken about for years. The speculation stemmed from a recent podcast appearance where his comments were misinterpreted, leading fans to believe that the magnum opus would mark the end of his acting career. Setting the record straight during the Fan Club segment on Zoom, Aamir said, 'Mahabharata is not going to be my last film. Abhi chakkar yeh hain aap kuch bhi bolo, uska wrong meaning humesha nikal aata hai." He explained that the original question posed to him was hypothetical about a film so fulfilling that he wouldn't feel like doing anything afterward. 'Material wise mujhe ek hi cheez nazar aati hai jismein voh power hai… Maine uska jawab iss context mein diya tha. Logon ko laga Mahabharata meri last film hai," he said. In his earlier chat with entrepreneur Raj Shamani, Aamir had spoken passionately about Mahabharata, calling it layered, emotional, and vast in scale. 'Har cheez jo duniya me hai woh aapko Mahabharat me milegi," he had said, reflecting his deep emotional investment in the project. He did admit that the film could give him a sense of creative closure, but nowhere did he confirm retiring. Before diving into Mahabharata, Aamir is gearing up for the release of his next film, Sitaare Zameen Par, directed by RS Prasanna. The film, also starring Genelia Deshmukh, is set to hit theatres on June 20. First Published: June 12, 2025, 00:36 IST

Aamir Khan Makes SHOCKING Confession, Says 'Yash Chopra Removed Me From Darr'
Last Updated: Eventually, the film was made with Shah Rukh Khan, Sunny Deol and Juhi Chawla and turned out to be a huge success, even winning a National Award. For years, it was believed that Aamir Khan turned down Darr, the 1993 psychological thriller that ultimately became one of Shah Rukh Khan's breakthrough roles. Now, Aamir has clarified that he never rejected the film, he was actually removed from it. Speaking with Zoom Fan Club, Aamir said, 'Darr ko maine na nahi haan bola tha. Mujhe nikala gaya tha." He explained that he had asked for a joint narration, since it was a two-hero film. 'Mera principle hai, jab do actor hote hai saath mein director ko joint narration dena hai. Yashji ko joint narration nahi dena tha. Unhone mujhe nikaal diya."(I didn't say no to Darr, I was removed. Since it had two lead actors, I asked for a joint narration. Yash Chopra didn't agree and removed me.) Aamir said that it's his standard approach when collaborating on multi-starrer films. He prefers listening to the script together with co-stars to ensure cohesive teamwork. 'Har aadmi ki alag thinking hoti hai… hum as a team kaam kare," he added. He also recalled a similar situation during Andaz Apna Apna with Salman Khan. 'Salman ne teen dafa cancel kiya. Unke secretary the, unhone bola Salman sun lenge baad mein aap log sun lo. Maine kaha jab Salman sunega tab main sununga."(Salman cancelled three narrations. His secretary said we could proceed without him. I said I'd wait for him. After three cancellations, he showed up and we heard the script together.) This process didn't align with Yash Chopra's working style for Darr. Eventually, the film was made with Shah Rukh Khan, Sunny Deol and Juhi Chawla and turned out to be a huge success, even winning a National Award. Meanwhile, Aamir is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par, co-starring Genelia Deshmukh. Directed by RS Prasanna, the film is scheduled to hit theatres on June 20.
