Huge new island waterpark to open with 30 slides and the world's longest lazy river
ROYAL Caribbean is launching an entire new island in 2027 and it will be home to seven neighborhoods - including a huge Waterpark.
Perfect Day Mexico is expected to launch in autumn 2027 as the cruise company's newest private island and at the heart of the island will be Loco Waterpark.

The waterpark will have over 30 waterslides, a wave pool and waterslide tower measuring more than 170ft tall called Jaguar's Peak.
There will also be hydrolaunch slides that shoot riders into the air and the world's first sombrero slide, modeled after Mexico's iconic sombrero.
The park will feature adventure pools and slides for younger kids too.
At Splash Cove, another central neighborhood on the island, there will be the longest lazy river in the world.
Along the hour-long float there are multiple entry and exit points and there will be a number of float up bars.
Each tube will even have a cupholder for beverages.
And for those who feel a little more daring, there is the option of venturing through a crazy section of the river that has twists and turns with waves, rapids and spins.
In the centre of all of this is a 100,000sqft pool - which is one of 10 across the island.
Smaller children will be able to enjoy Royal Caribbean's largest Splashaway Bay with the first-ever Splashaway Cabanas nearby.
The cruise line has partnered with Legacy Entertainment - a US-based design firm responsible for theme parks and attractions - to create the waterpark.
Dubai hotel with world's largest waterpark
The destination spans over 200 acres on Mexico's Caribbean Coast and in total will have seven neighbourhoods, with 12 dining options and 24 bars.
Other neighbourhoods include El Hideaway - an adults-only neighbourhood.
The neighbourhood will be the party zone with a party pool, swim-up bar and in-pool DJ.
There will also be a new Ultimate Party Cabana for 20 guests, with its own pool and bar.
In the Costa Beach Club neighbourhood, guests can make the most of the white sand beaches, heated infinity pool and Costa Beach Club restaurant.
At Chill Beach North and South will be two miles of white sand beaches.
Then at Fiesta Plaza, guests can make the most of live music and dance inspired by Mexico with live music and dance.
Plus, the world's largest sombrero will be found on top of the Tipsy Sombrero bar which will serve classic Mexican drinks such as margaritas and cervezas.

Free-to-use loungers, umbrellas and towels will be at all of the beaches and pools at Perfect Day Mexico.

Royal Caribbean is also due to launch the Royal Beach Club Paradise Island in December 2025.
The first-of-its-kind Royal Beach Club in The Bahamas will combine the stunning beaches of Nassau's Paradise Island with Royal Caribbean's signature experiences.
Visitors can purchase an all-inclusive day pass and enjoy unlimited dining, drinks and amenities, from The Floating Flamingo – the world's largest swim-up bar.
Also opening, in 2026, is the Royal Beach Club Cozumel – which features stunning beaches, pools with swim-up bars, cabanas, snorkeling, kayaking and more.
A closed UK waterpark will also finally reopen after shutting 17 months ago.
Plus, a massive European waterpark with 14 themed lands opens new outdoor pool and 150-seat swim up bar.

World's only tequila train relaunches with all-you-can-drink shots onboard
AFTER nine years away, a unique tequila train has finally restarted. The Tequila Express in Mexico allows passengers to drink all-they-can, whilst whizzing through Jalisco's UNESCO-listed countryside. 4 4 The Tequila Express returned last year, after a nine year hiatus. Originally created in 1997, the original Tequila Express train journeyed from Guadalajara through Jalisco's countryside. However, the service was then abandoned in 2015 as it couldn't compete with two other tequila trains - Jose Cuervo Express and the Herradura Express. The Tequila Express returned following $9million (£6.6million) in investment by local governments, tourism and railroad companies. Onboard, passengers are served food and of course, tequila, throughout the journey. Visitors can alternatively choose to go on the Jose Cuervo Express, which runs between Guadalajara and Tequila on one-way, pre-curated itineraries. Passengers can opt for either a sunrise or sunset tour, with four different cabin classes. Included in the ticket, is time in Tequila itself - with opportunities to explore Mundo Cuervo facilities including the Juan Beckmann Gallardo Cultural Centre and La Rojeña Distillery. In the basic Express class, there is a tequila tasting and tour. On the other hand, the Elite package includes seating in the train's most opulent cabin, with Mexican cuisine, tequila tasting and more activities. Inside 'gateway to underworld' underneath 1,800-year-old city which holds 'toxic' secret that scientists 'can't explain' The Herradura Express is then also similar, heading from Guadalajara to Tequila. There are several cabin options are available as well as a Wagon Bar - an intimate Wagon Intermedio for small groups. One visitor shared on Tripadvisor: "It is an unforgettable experience." Another added: "Great opportunity to learn about the tequila production process from field to glass, with tutored tastings and a tour of the distillery. "The sunset train journey back was superb with wonderful food and non-stop, freshly made cocktails. "Will remember the day for a lifetime." 4 Today, Jalisco is home to around 150 registered distilleries and 20 of which, are in Tequila. Whilst some of the train experiences available include a visit to a distillery, Tequila is also home to El Tequileño/Casa Salles - the only distillery on Tequila, where you can also stay. The Casa Salles, El Tequileño's boutique hotel offers a spa experience and is within walking distance of the city centre. The venue also offers distillery tours and tastings, a restaurant and hiking and city tours via the hotel. Tequila, to legally be tequila, mist be produced in Jalisco or one of the designated tequila municipalities located in four other states. There is also a hidden bar in England named one of the world's best – the only one in the UK to make the list. This rising star of the Emirates is where adrenaline meets luxury, mountains meet sea, and where your taste buds will thank you forever. My girlfriend Ayesha and I stayed at two unforgettable world-class resorts during our trip and tried just about everything RAK has to offer. After a relaxing first day, we kicked things off with a trip into the region's past at the Suwaidi Pearls Farm in Al Rams. Set on a calm stretch of coast, it's the UAE's only working cultured pearl farm and one of the coolest cultural experience ever. After dark, the village transformed into a colourful spectacle of belly dancers, fire breathing acts and local food, all enjoyed under a sky full of stars. Think Marrakech meets Mad Max, with shisha on tap. Then came the big one — the Jebel Jais adventure day. The towering Hajar Mountains dominate the skyline in RAK, and it's here you'll find the Jebel Jais Flight – officially the world's longest zipline, stretching a wild 2.83km across mountain ravines. Advertisement I was strapped in like Superman, then off I went — flying at up to 160km/h above jagged cliffs and deep valleys. Rather embarrassing Go Pro footage has it all, including my screams. All that flying builds up an appetite, so next up was lunch at 1484 by Puro, the highest restaurant in the UAE (yep, it's literally 1,484 metres above sea level). The views are as tasty as the food. I went for a barbecue chicken pizza and truffle fries with mountain air and a side of total awe. If you want to eat with your head in the clouds, this is your spot. On the final day, I ticked off one more epic activity — a 30-minute flight over Ras Al Khaimah with Jazirah Aviation Club. Our first base was Rixos Al Mairid, and let me tell you, it's a showstopper. We stayed in a beachfront suite, and from the moment we stepped inside, it felt like a private slice of paradise. Advertisement The villa opened up into a large, airy living space with floor-to-ceiling windows that bathed the room in golden light. A plush sofa, espresso machine, and curated minibar made it hard to leave. The bedroom was just as dreamy — a king-sized bed with cloud-like pillows, blackout curtains for lazy mornings, and sliding doors that led straight to our private terrace and onto soft white sands. The five-star resort spans 1.5km of private beach with 466 rooms, suites, and villas. The food here was incredible, but the standout? The burger at Toro Loco. Hands down, the best burger I've ever had. Perfectly grilled, juicy, and devoured in record time. Advertisement It's not just food that impresses at Rixos — the jungle gym and kids' zones are brilliant for families, and they even host celebrity-led workout classes for guests looking to break a sweat in style. There's also a small football pitch next to the main saltwater pool — ideal for an impromptu kickabout with the kids or a quick game at golden hour. The resort has just unveiled a brand-new entertainment stage which we unfortunately missed. It will bring acts from around the world. So if you like your beach days with a side of glitz, this is the place. Our second stop was the family-friendly DoubleTree by Hilton Resort & Spa on Al Marjan Island — a firm favourite for sun-seekers with kids. No problem — there's a spacious indoor pool to cool off in. The rooms were bright, modern, and designed for comfort, with balconies that opened onto sea views and sunsets worth pausing for. Advertisement Food-wise, the Meze restaurant brought a modern Turkish twist to classics, while Sanchaya, their lively Asian eatery, hosts a night brunch that's basically a party with plates. We tucked into sushi, spicy noodles, spring rolls, szechuan chicken and cocktails — all to the beat of a live DJ. It was the perfect mix of laid-back and lively. I left RAK with sand in my shoes, photos on my camera roll, and serious thoughts about coming back for a fortnight next time.
