Netanyahu Denies Gaza Famine, Admitting Other War Crimes
DayofPal– Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday rejected accusations that people in the Gaza Strip are facing starvation, denying that Israel is employing starvation as a tactic of war.
Speaking at a conference, Netanyahu asserted that the Israeli army has documented the physical condition of thousands of Palestinian detainees from Gaza, insisting none of them showed signs of severe malnourishment.
Netanyahu said that despite international assessments warn of a looming famine in the besieged enclave.
'Thousands and thousands of prisoners taking their shirt off and you don't see one, not one emaciated from the beginning of the war to the present,' he claimed.
Netanyahu further claimed that, from the early stages of the war, Israel had made the decision to provide Gaza's civilian population with 'essential requirements: food, water, medicine.'
However, he did not provide concrete evidence to support this assertion one that contradicts warnings issued by the United Nations and various humanitarian organizations regarding extreme levels of acute food insecurity in the territory.
His remarks also confirmed that Israeli forces have detained thousands of individuals from Gaza over the course of the war.
He admitted to the mass detention of thousands of civilians who were not involved in hostile activities, which is a blatant violation of Article (3) of the Geneva Conventions on war. This article prohibits warring parties from detaining civilians except under judicial and humanitarian guarantees.
He also admitted to a clear and direct violation of Article (13) of the Third Geneva Convention by photographing detainees and publishing the images for the purpose of defamation and humiliation. This article was designed to protect the dignity of prisoners of war and detainees.
In addition, he admitted the stripping of prisoners and photographing them in degrading and indecent positions, in ways that amount to humiliating treatment and degradation of human dignity, is considered a crime under the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.
He then concluded with a sick mockery of their bodies, saying: 'You can notice that those we detained don't exercise,' implying they are overweight from excessive eating.
Despite these claims, Israel has largely kept the crossings into Gaza closed since March 2, halting the flow of food, medical supplies, and humanitarian assistance.
The blockade has significantly worsened an already dire humanitarian situation, with local authorities reporting deaths from malnutrition, particularly among children. Gaza health officials have formally declared the conditions a state of famine.
58 children have died, since the war started, due to severe malnutrition, with the Gaza Government Media Office recording 9 children among 26 died in less the 24 hours due to starvation, last week.
Meanwhile, the U.S.-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) announced on Monday that it had launched operations to distribute aid, bypassing the United Nations and established international relief agencies.
Its integration into an Israeli-controlled aid mechanism has drawn criticism from humanitarian groups, who argue that sustainable, large-scale access is essential to meet the urgent needs of the population.
Tensions flared on Tuesday when Israeli forces reportedly opened fire on a crowd gathered at a GHF aid distribution point, killing at least three Palestinians and injuring 46 others, according to the Gaza media office.
Israel's genocide in Gaza, ongoing since October 2023, has continued despite growing international pressure for a ceasefire. The offensive has resulted in the deaths of more than 54,000 Palestinians, the majority of whom are women and children.
In November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Additionally, Israel is currently the subject of a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its actions against civilians in the territory.

Soaring temperatures and blockade drive Gaza toward water collapse
DaysofPal- The Gaza Municipality has issued an urgent warning about an intensifying water crisis that threatens the lives of hundreds of thousands in the city, as summer temperatures soar and demand rises among both residents and displaced families. In a statement posted Sunday on its official X account, the municipality described the conditions as catastrophic, attributing the crisis to the near-total destruction of Gaza's water infrastructure by Israeli occupation forces (IOF) since October 7, 2023. According to the municipality, nearly 75% of Gaza's water wells have been destroyed, while the few that remain are barely functional due to a crippling fuel shortage. The situation has been further exacerbated by Israel's repeated suspension of water pumping through the Israeli national water company Mekorot. These disruptions have left entire neighborhoods in Gaza parched and dangerously underserved, raising fears of a looming health and environmental disaster. 'The current supply is drastically below the city's basic needs, putting tens of thousands of lives at risk,' the municipality stated. Gaza currently receives only around 35,000 cups of water daily, less than a third of the 120,000 cups supplied before the war. Of this, roughly 20,000 cups are sourced from Mekorot, and just 15,000 from municipal wells, which are limited to a few hours of operation per day due to the fuel and electricity crisis. A marginal amount is also extracted from private wells, though access is minimal. Municipal officials have urgently appealed to humanitarian agencies to intervene by supplying emergency fuel, rehabilitating damaged infrastructure, and helping restore water access. Over the past 20 months, Israeli airstrikes and ground operations have destroyed large portions of Gaza's water infrastructure, including pipelines, desalination plants, and distribution networks. The Palestinian Water Authority and health officials say the damage has rendered access to clean, safe drinking water 'almost impossible.' Before the war, Gaza's per capita water consumption was about 84.6 liters per day; now, it is between 3 and 5 liters, far less than the WHO's emergency minimum of 20 liters per day. 'Israel's genocidal war on Gaza has executed all aspects of life,' said Ayman al-Ramlawi, Director of the Department of Environmental Health and Occupational Safety at the Ministry of Health in Gaza. 'The water and sanitation sector is one of the most prominent sectors affected by the war, especially as it is directly related to the reality of public health in the Gaza Strip.' The Water Authority echoed these concerns in a recent statement: 'The occupation's destruction of infrastructure, electricity cuts, and prevention of the entry of fuel and basic supplies led to an almost complete cessation of water services.' The agency warned that Gaza has effectively become 'a thirsty area.' The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) reported on May 9 that 65 to 70 percent of Gaza's water infrastructure has been destroyed. Due to these conditions, water must now be distributed by truck, a method severely hampered by fuel shortages. 'Children are bearing the brunt of this war,' said a UNICEF aid worker involved in water distribution. 'We see tragic scenes daily of children dying of hunger and thirst, walking dozens of kilometers in search of a bite or a drop of water.' The aid worker added, 'Ninety percent of families face great difficulty in obtaining sufficient drinking water and are even unable to secure water to clean a newborn baby.' Health officials have also raised concerns about the rising risks of illness brought on by unhygienic conditions. The Palestinian Water Authority warned of the contamination of rainwater basins with wastewater and the discharge of sewage into residential areas. Ramlawi emphasized that 'the minimum amount of water available is not sufficient for personal hygiene,' resulting in the spread of serious illnesses. including diarrhea, hepatitis A, polio, and kidney disease linked to contaminated water and crops irrigated with sewage. Compounding the crisis, Israel has continued to block aid trucks at border crossings since March 2, leaving humanitarian supplies, including fuel and water treatment equipment, stranded and inaccessible. The closure has further plunged the Gaza Strip, home to 2.4 million people, into famine conditions. Shortlink for this post:

IOF Commits New Massacre Against Starving Civilians in Rafah: 30 Killed, 200 Injured
DaysofPal – Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) launched a deadly assault on Tuesday morning, targeting Palestinian civilians gathered near a U.S.-supervised aid distribution point in western Rafah, southern Gaza. The attack resulted in the deaths of at least 30 people and left over 200 others wounded, according to medical sources and eyewitnesses. The Palestinian Ministry of Health confirmed that 24 bodies had been transferred to hospitals in the southern region, with dozens more injured — many in critical condition — following the strike in the Al-Alam area, where desperate civilians had assembled in hopes of receiving food. Eyewitnesses and local journalists reported that Israeli forces opened fire directly at the crowd, echoing previous massacres in recent weeks that targeted residents suffering from extreme hunger due to the ongoing siege. Among the identified victims were: Ibrahim Khaled Abu Zurqa Basel Shaban Abu Alwan Kamel Mahmoud Arafat Haitham Jumaa Mahmoud Marwan Al-Nahal According to Gaza's Government Media Office, this latest atrocity raises the death toll near aid distribution centers to 49, with over 305 injured since May 27 — the date when the controversial aid mechanism was launched in Rafah and the Wadi Gaza region (near the Netzarim corridor). The aid is being distributed through a new entity called the Gaza Humanitarian Relief Foundation, backed by Israeli and U.S. authorities. However, the mechanism has faced widespread rejection from Palestinian officials and international humanitarian organizations. UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini previously described the process as 'a waste of resources and a distraction from the atrocities committed during the ongoing Israeli military campaign.' Since its inception, the aid system has been plagued by disorder and deadly violence. Multiple fatal incidents have occurred at distribution sites, particularly in Rafah, where thousands of displaced and starving Palestinians are forced to risk their lives in search of basic sustenance. This latest massacre comes as international organizations issue increasingly dire warnings about the total collapse of Gaza's humanitarian infrastructure. Continued Israeli military operations, mass displacement, and severe shortages of food, clean water, and medical supplies have plunged the population into what many describe as a man-made catastrophe. Hamas hails Qatar and Egypt's determination to clear hurdles for Gaza ceasefire agreement
DaysofPal – Qatar and Egypt issued a joint statement on Sunday reaffirming their continued efforts to narrow gaps between negotiating parties and resolve points of contention in hopes of reaching a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip. The two mediators stated that their efforts are proceeding 'based on the proposal of the U.S. President's Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff,' which they said provides a framework for the resumption of indirect negotiations. The statement expressed hope for a 60-day truce that could lead to a permanent ceasefire and an end to the worsening humanitarian crisis in the besieged territory. Both countries stressed their commitment, in coordination with the United States, to intensify efforts aimed at removing the obstacles impeding negotiations. Qatar and Egypt also called for the opening of border crossings and the urgent entry of humanitarian and relief aid into Gaza, paving the way for the complete cessation of hostilities and the start of reconstruction efforts by the roadmap adopted by the emergency Arab Summit held in Cairo on March 4, 2025. The two nations urged all parties to act responsibly and to support the efforts of mediators to resolve the crisis and restore stability and calm to the region. Hamas welcomes mediation, ready for talks Responding to the Qatari-Egyptian statement, the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) announced on Sunday its readiness to begin a new round of indirect negotiations aimed at reaching a permanent ceasefire and the full withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip. 'We are ready to immediately begin a round of indirect negotiations to reach an agreement that secures relief for our people and ends the humanitarian tragedy,' Hamas said in a statement. 'We welcome the continued Qatari and Egyptian efforts to end the occupation's war in the Gaza Strip.' On Saturday, Hamas submitted its official response to the proposal put forward by U.S. Middle East Envoy Steve Witkoff. The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu categorically rejected the response, although a Hamas source called it 'positive,' highlighting the necessity of a permanent ceasefire and a complete Israeli withdrawal. In turn, Witkoff reportedly deemed the Hamas response 'unacceptable.' The source, familiar with the negotiations, explained that Hamas emphasized the necessity of a permanent ceasefire, a complete Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, and the release of ten prisoners in three stages. Despite diplomatic efforts, Israel continues to intensify its military campaign in the Gaza Strip. Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz has instructed the army to expand its ground operation into additional areas of the already devastated and besieged enclave. Shortlink for this post:
