Shakira is currently traveling across America, performing dates on the U.S. leg of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour. The Latin superstar has been in the news lately after several shows on the trek were canceled, disappointing fans in cities like Boston and Washington, D.C.
It's never good for a major artist to pull out of scheduled performances — especially at the last minute — as it impacts thousands of people. Shakira does appear to be the beneficiary of an unintended consequence stemming from her unfortunate moves.

There are four different Shakira projects that appear on at least one Billboard tally in America this week. Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran also climbs from No. 6 to the runner-up spot on the Top Latin Pop Albums roster, nearly laying claim to the top spot once more.

Southport will celebrate the 230th North Carolina 4th of July Festival. It's a tradition that dates back to 1795, making it one of the oldest recorded Fourth of July celebrations in the South. Each year more than 45,000 people gather from all walks of life to celebrate Independence Day. Here's what to know. The NC 4th of July Festival will be held over several days ― Friday, June 27 to Friday, July 4 in Southport with Beach Day to be held Tuesday, July 1 on Oak Island. The festival celebrates patriotism with ceremonies honoring veterans, flag traditions, and a U.S. Naturalization Ceremony that has welcomed hundreds of new citizens since 1996. Beach Day, organized by the Oak Island Recreation Department, is filled with fun and family-friendly activities held in collaboration with the NC 4th of July Festival. Firefighters Competition, organized by the Southport Fire Department, has drawn firefighters from area fire departments to compete since 1984. The competitive events include Tanker Tug, Command Post, Bucket Brigade, Benjamin Franklin Impersonator, Extrication Demonstration, Mystery Event, Fire Extinguisher Demonstration, and Barrel Push. There also will be a pie-eating contest. Appearances by Sparky, Smokey, and Marshal from Paw Patrol. Fireworks ― Oak Island will lead the way with a show from Oak Island Pier that starts at 9 p.m. on July 1 at 705 Ocean Drive. The fireworks in Southport will be held on July 4 and will include a barge-mounted fireworks show from the waterfront at 9 p.m. Naturalization ceremony will be held noon-2 p.m. Thursday, July 3 at Fort Johnston-Southport Visitors Center and Museum, 203 E. Bay St., Southport. The parade is one of the festival's biggest highlights and will be held on Friday, July 4. The Veteran Recognition Ceremony is a mainstay of the festival. It allows the public to stop and remember those who serve this country. All veterans are encouraged to attend. Dinner will be provided. Seating is limited. This event is first-come, first-served. What Does Shane Gillis Want (to Get Away With)?
How do you profit from a sudden windfall of attention? That's what's confronting the man-children of 'Tires,' the Netflix sitcom from the comedian Shane Gillis, at the beginning of its recently released second season. The question digs at them both onscreen and behind the cameras. The show's first season, which aired last year, felt like a tentative demo — a lo-fi experiment in bawdy, blue-collar yuksmanship. Season 2 is crisper and slicker. The clothes fit better. The lighting is sharper. And the auto repair shop at the show's center is thriving, or something like it. The spoils of success are trickling in. Gillis, a frisky bear of a man who deftly tangles with the absurdities of contemporary culture and politics, is one of the standout comedic talents of the past few years. His humor is playful and plugged in, and delivered approachably. But he has at times deployed offense, or the appearance of it, in ways that have rendered him still something of an outsider from the mainstream, despite his huge popularity. 'Tires,' an episodic sitcom on a major streaming platform, is first and foremost an opportunity to bridge that divide. Can the edgelord comedy that's defined the nü-bro movement of the past few years come out and play? That remains to be seen. 'Tires' is too inert to be offensive — curiously (purposely?) stakesless and edgeless for one of the few performers capable of making comedic hay of the current paroxysms around ideological purity (on all sides).
