Florida Missing Child Alert issued for Tampa teenager
TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A Florida Missing Child Alert was issued for a 16-year-old Tampa girl on Monday.
Jewel Blackwell was last seen in the area of the 6000 block of Gibson Avenue in Tampa wearing a gray sweater and gray sweatpants.
Blackwell was described as a black female with black hair and brown eyes. She is 5'3″ tall and weighs 245 pounds. She has two nose piercings and a lip piercing.
Police believe she may be traveling in the South Florida area.
Anyone with information about her whereabouts is asked to contact the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at (813) 247-8200 or call 911.

State police to hand out 1.5K handgun safes to promote safe storage
MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH) — Connecticut State Police say they'll soon be issuing 1,500 handgun safes to new pistol permit recipients as part of their Safe Storage Initiative CT program. The program is meant to raise awareness and education about the safe storage of firearms. Connecticut advocates push to raise awareness of gun storage safety The safes were funded by a Byrne-SCIP grant and will be issued to recipients at state police headquarters in Middletown. They'll also come with a pamphlet outlining safety recommendations and relevant laws. Gun Storage Check Week is also this week, spanning from June 1 to June 7. State police said it's an important time to remember improper storage can lead to accidents, suicides, or thefts. The Safe Storage Initiative is expected to launch on July 1. Deadly West Side crash now being investigated as homicide: CPD
CHICAGO (WGN) — A West Side crash that left a 25-year-old woman dead in late April is now being investigated as a homicide. Officers say the deadly crash, which claimed the life of 25-year-old Keyana Meeks, unfolded around 4:15 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29, in the 1300 block of South Lawndale Avenue in North Lawndale. Read more: Latest Chicago news and headlines An initial report by police indicated that Meeks was on foot when she was struck by an Acura MDX after the driver allegedly struck a curb while making a left turn. Photos from the scene show the vehicle involved partially overturned near a building in the area with police tape cordoning off the scene. Meeks was badly injured in the crash and later died at the hospital, while the driver of the vehicle, an unidentified 21-year-old woman, suffered an injury to her leg. LATEST CASES: Missing people in Chicagoland The driver of the Acura was taken into custody after receiving medical treatment, however, charges against her were never announced.
