Live Events
Gordon
Ramsay
himself expressed excitement over the venture. 'Bringing Hell's Kitchen to Canada is an incredible milestone,' Ramsay said. 'Edmonton is the perfect city to launch, with a thriving food scene and an appetite for world-class culinary experiences.'
Hell's Kitchen Edmonton will showcase a menu that fans of the show will recognize, including the famed Beef Wellington, lobster risotto, crispy skin salmon, and sticky toffee pudding.
The restaurant will also feature a contemporary design that mirrors other Hell's Kitchen locations in Las Vegas, Miami, and Dubai, with dramatic open kitchens, sleek interiors, and prominently displayed iconic pitchfork logo.
The decision to open the first Canadian Hell's Kitchen in Edmonton, rather than larger metropolitan areas like Toronto or Vancouver, is seen as a bold and strategic move. Officials from the River Cree Resort said this reflects their commitment to bringing premium entertainment and hospitality experiences to Alberta.
'We are thrilled to partner with Gordon Ramsay to bring this world-class brand to our resort,' said River Cree Resort and Casino CEO Billy Jo White. 'This is not just a restaurant; it's a destination that will elevate Alberta's culinary and tourism profile.'
Construction is expected to begin later this year, with the grand opening slated for fall 2025. The restaurant is anticipated to create new jobs and attract significant foot traffic to the area.

NHL (via Getty Images) Following a wrap of its inaugural full season as a Canadian broadcaster of NHL games, Amazon's Prime Video is already gliding full-tilt into Season 2. During their 2025 upfronts in Toronto, the company announced it will be back with an expanded package of hockey programming, including exclusive Monday night games of the Maple Leafs, the groundbreaking 'Coast-to-Coast' Thursday whiparound show, and a new season of the behind-the-scenes docuseries, 'FACEOFF: Inside the NHL. ' Prime Video Canada VP Mark Shapiro discusses what NHL viewers can see in 2025-26 Mark Shapiro, Prime Video Canada VP, discussed with The Hockey News what viewers should look for in 2025-26, why executives and players are committing more, and if Amazon's aspirations for the NHL go beyond the two-year agreement. "We were really happy. I think what we were most happy with was the fan reception to the broadcast," Mark Shapiro stated. "We're really happy with our viewership and growing with younger audiences, our members spending more time with the broadcast. We view it as a great opportunity to be a part of everybody's Monday nights for three hours every Monday as we broadcast games from Canadian teams." The docuseries 'FACEOFF: Inside the NHL' provided viewers with unmatched access to players such as William Nylander and David Pastrnak. From locker room humor to low-key times with family members, the show pulled back the curtain—and it paid off. Mark Shapiro explained players were naturally guarded initially. "Understanding the players as people and everything that they dedicate to becoming such elite athletes was something that we had, you know, great response on in season one. And I think fans can expect to see more of in season two," he said. Even front office execs, including Maple Leafs president Brendan Shanahan, will appear on screen this time, offering a 360-degree look at the league. For 2025-26, Amazon becomes the exclusive Canadian broadcaster for NHL Monday night games, including several featuring the Toronto Maple Leafs. That means Prime Video is no longer just sharing the spotlight—it is the spotlight. From auto-play on Fire TV to 1080p HDR imagery and 5.1 surround sound, Prime Video is breaking the mold. Shapiro underscored highlights such as Home Ice Access: Take a peek at arenas before puck drop Rapid Recap: Two-minute game summary for late joiners Dynamic studio formats, such as the revolving panel of pundits on 'Coast-to-Coast' Looking Ahead: Will Amazon Stay with the NHL Beyond 2025-26? Though Amazon's current deal with the NHL, sublicensed through Rogers Sports & Media, ends after the upcoming season, Shapiro wasn't ready to talk long-term. However, Prime Video's increasing investment in hockey—such as previous productions like All or Nothing: Toronto Maple Leafs and Saving Sakic—indicates there is long-term interest in the works. Also read: Young Panthers' fan shares her most favorite bit from the NHL Finals Game 3, and it's not the match From inside access to elite storytelling and groundbreaking presentation, Amazon's NHL package isn't just about games—it's about redefining what it means to experience hockey in the streaming age. Be on the lookout for Season 2 to double down even more on this high-energy, fan-centric format.

Sidhu Moosewala's unreleased songs drop on birth anniversary amid BBC documentary clash
On the birth anniversary of late Punjabi rapper Sidhu Moosewala, three previously unreleased tracks — 008, Take Notes, and Neal — were officially released on his YouTube channel and Spotify. The tracks are part of a posthumous mixtape titled Moose Print and feature production by The Kidd, Mrxci, Jay B Singh, and Sidhu himself. The artist's popularity has endured more than two years after his death, as the three tracks collectively surpassed 7.8 million views on YouTube, within hours. The release sparked a wave across social media, with fans flooding the comment sections to celebrate Moosewala's legacy. Born Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, Moosewala was shot and killed in Mansa district, Punjab, in May 2022. Canadian gangster Goldy Brar, along with a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility for the attack. Since then, several of Sidhu's posthumous works have been released, drawing both critical and commercial attention. The timing of the song drop coincided with the release of the first two episodes of a BBC documentary that explores Sidhu's rise to fame and the events leading up to his murder. However, the documentary has been met with legal pushback from Sidhu's father, Balkaur Singh, who alleged that the BBC used his son's story and likeness without consent. Singh's legal team also expressed concerns that the content might interfere with the ongoing investigation into Sidhu's killing. The BBC had planned a screening of the documentary in Mumbai but pulled it at the last minute following the controversy. Instead, the episodes were quietly uploaded to YouTube. A court hearing to address the legal dispute is scheduled for June 12.
