This Beach Was Named No. 1 in Italy—and Its Called 'Paradise on Earth' by Travelers

There's nothing quite like summer in Italy. It's a season filled with sunshine, warm temperatures, and a thorough embrace of all things "la dolce vita.' Think aperol spritzes, seasonal fare, and leisurely days at the beach.
If that sounds like your ideal vacation, it may be time to start planning your Italian getaway—and you'll find plenty of trip inspiration on TripAdvisor's 2025 Travelers' Choice Awards Best of the Best Beaches list highlighting the top beaches in Europe.
While beaches in Greece, Portugal, and Spain took the most coveted spots on the list, Spiaggia dei Conigli (or Rabbit Beach) on the island of Lampedusa in Sicily was deemed the official best beach in Italy. Coming in at No. 5, the beach is known for clear blue waters, white sand, a sea turtle population, and a generally relaxing atmosphere. Methodology
To compile its list of the best beaches in Europe, TripAdvisor developed a 'comprehensive analysis of global beach reviews' to determine which destinations '[received] a high volume of above-and-beyond reviews and opinions from the TripAdvisor community over a 12-month period.'
To ensure Spiaggia dei Conigli maintains its pristine natural beauty, access from June to mid-October is limited to two shifts, and travelers have to make reservations in advance. To reach the beach, you can take a bus from Lampedusa's city center, walk (it's about a 1-hour trek), bike, or rent an electric scooter or car. Just be sure to bring some supportive shoes and water, as there's a short hike to get down to the beach.
Don't worry, though: your effort will be rewarded with an incredible seaside experience. 'It's the most beautiful beach I've ever seen. Going down, you are left speechless and with bated breath … The sea is a mix of wonderful colors, more crystal clear than a pool,' says one reviewer. Others call it 'a paradise on Earth' and share that the limitation on visitors ensures 'you can enjoy its beauty without having to find yourself under the umbrella or on someone else's towel.'
Three other Italian beaches were featured in the Travelers' Choice Awards Best of the Best Beaches in Europe. Tropea Beach came in at No. 8, and Spiaggia La Cinta and Cala Mariolu on Sardinia took the No. 12 and the No. 15 spots, respectively.

The First Private Luxury Pool Club On the Amalfi Coast Just Opened—Here's a Look Inside

There's nothing quite as chic (or Instagramable) as an Italian summer filled with Aperol spritzes, colorful umbrellas, and poolside pasta and pizza. While you could find your picture-perfect moment almost anywhere along the Amalfi Coast, there's a brand-new spot for travelers seeking the most stylish, luxe experiences: La Piscina, A Caruso Pool Club. Billed as the 'first private luxury pool club on the Amalfi Coast,' La Piscina is the latest offering from Caruso, A Belmond Hotel, a Travel + Leisure reader favorite and frequent winner in the World's Best Awards. According to the press release, the pool club, which opened this spring, is all about embracing the Italian idea of villeggiatura, which is a prolonged, leisurely stay, and celebrating 'the endless Italian summer vacation.' Guests are encouraged to slow down, relax, and completely disconnect via private poolside cabanas, well-being programming, and an array of exclusive amenities. The highlight of La Piscina might be the infinity pool—complete with yellow-trimmed parasols and cushioned loungers, reminiscent of the Mediterranean social scene in the 1960s—overlooking the coast and the resort town of Ravello. But every aspect of the experience is thoughtful and expertly curated. Whether you're an overnight hotel guest or a visitor (day passes are subject to availability), you'll kick off your day at the pool club with the La Piscina Essentials kit, featuring sunscreen and Amalfi lemon-infused water, plus special snacks delivered throughout the day. Sunbeds and umbrellas are par for the course, and guests have the option to splurge for a two-person private cabana for an additional fee. And if you're in the mood to treat yourself, the extra free is worth it. You'll have the cabana all day, and it comes with sparkling wine, fresh fruit, a lunch credit, dedicated butler service, and access to other 'bespoke amenities.' Nearly every aspect of the pool club is inspired by ozio creativo , an Italian term that roughly translates to 'creative leisure." From outdoor yoga and live music to pasta-making classes, movie nights, and tours of the hotel's Mediterranean terraced gardens, there's a whole host of club activities for those who want to take an active, immersive approach to their summer. Although you're also welcome to park yourself by the pool all day, alternating between playing backgammon and Belmond's special edition Monopoly, and sipping on a spritz from the Caruso Grill and Pool Bar. La dolce vita at its finest. La Piscina is open to both guests and visitors until the hotel closes for the season on Oct 26.

Alaska Airlines plans first Europe route, Seattle to Rome

Alaska Airlines will connect Seattle with Rome beginning next May. The service will be the first between Seattle and Rome, and Alaska's first route to Europe. Alaska intends to serve the route four times per week with a three-cabin Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. Dreamliners are currently part of the Hawaiian Airlines fleet only, but the company expects to receive a joint operating certificate prior to next May, which would allow those planes to be operated by Alaska Airlines. A precise launch date has not yet been announced. Tickets are expected to go on sale at some point this fall. Rome is the third long-haul route Alaska Air Group has announced from Seattle since revealing plans late last year to turn its Pacific Northwest base into a transoceanic hub. In total, Alaska Air Group plans to serve at least a dozen overseas destinations with widebody aircraft from Seattle by 2030. Hawaiian Airlines service from Seattle to Tokyo began in May and Hawaiian flights from Seattle to Seoul will begin Sept. 12.

This Gulf Coast City Is the Top Trending U.S. Destination This Summer, According to Kayak

Searches for Tampa are up a whopping 85 percent year over year, according to new Kayak data—but this Floridian isn't surprised. With its growing food scene, ever-expanding walkable waterfront, and proximity to some of Florida's best beaches, Tampa is heating up this summer in more ways than one. Here's how to make the most of a summertime trip to this trending Gulf Coast city. First time in Tampa? Start with a stroll along the 2.6-mile Tampa Riverwalk, which connects downtown attractions, parks, and businesses along the Hillsborough River. Visit cultural attractions like the Tampa Museum of Art and the Florida Aquarium to beat the heat, or hop aboard a Pirate Water Taxi for a breezy ride. In the summer, locals love cooling down with a scoop from local favorite Chill Bros (get it in a homemade waffle cone—trust) or arriving by boat to Rick's on the River for seafood and cold drinks. Tampa's historic cigar district is a can't-miss—this is Cigar City, after all. Beyond the iconic Columbia Restaurant (don't skip the Original 1905 Salad, tossed tableside and named for the year the restaurant was founded), you'll find trendy cocktail bars like Hotel Haya's Flor Fina, where a massive atrium gives you the sunshiney vibes of the outside without having to sacrifice air conditioning. (Outdoor-feeling indoor spaces are how we natives survive summer in Florida, by the way.) Duck into King State for craft beer and third-wave coffee, all under one roof, or browse the funky vintage shops along 7th Avenue. Clearwater Beach is a Tampa Bay–area classic and the Clearwater Marine Aquarium is great for families. But savvy travelers can skip the summer beach crowds and head to Pass-a-Grille, a quaint and quiet stretch of sand just south of St. Pete Beach. It's about 45 minutes from downtown Tampa and has pastel cottages, funky seafood joints, and some of the best sunset views in Florida—complete with a nightly sunset bell-ringing tradition. Just remember that while beaches and summertime go hand in hand, so does a higher UV index and sunburn. Hydrate and slather on the SPF accordingly. Tampa is a sports town through and through, home to the Rays (baseball), the Lightning (ice hockey), and the Buccaneers (football). While ice hockey and football games don't resume until the fall, you can catch a MLB game in Tampa during the summer. The Tampa Bay Rays have home games scheduled throughout June, July, August, and September, including matchups against the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, Detroit Tigers, and St. Louis Cardinals. Many Floridians prioritize indoor activities during the sweltering summer months, but summer is still a nice time for a golden-hour paddle through mangrove tunnels at Weedon Island Preserve or even a clear kayak tour of Shell Key Preserve. During the hottest part of the day, explore Tampa's indoor (or at least shaded) food halls and local breweries. Armature Works is a buzzy mixed-use hub in a restored streetcar warehouse with sweeping river views, while Cigar City Brewing is the heart of Tampa's craft beer scene with their iconic Jai Alai and Florida Man IPAs. If you do decide to brave Busch Gardens Tampa Bay in the summer (couldn't be me), spare yourself the heat stroke and go by night: the park's Summer Nights promotion features extended summertime hours that keep the park open late from May 23 to Aug. 10.
