The Memorial leaderboard: PGA Tour updates, scoreboard, cut line tracker
Five days after winning his first individual title on the PGA Tour, which was his second win following a team victory a month ago, Ben Griffin kept things rolling with a 7-under 65 to kick start his 2025 Memorial Tournament.
At the beginning of play on Friday, Griffin was followed by Collin Morikawa (5 under), Max Homa (4 under), and a host of others at Muirfield Village outside Columbus.
The defending champ at Jack Nicklaus' tournament is Scottie Scheffler, who's also coming off winning the PGA Championship, shot 2 under par in the first round. That was good for a tie for seventh.
There will be a cut after today's round. Ludvig Åberg started the day just above the projected cut line, while Justin Rose and Justin Thomas are among the big-name golfers who need to turn things around to make the weekend.

Max Homa's Behavior Toward Fans After PGA Tour Loss Catches Attention
Max Homa's Behavior Toward Fans After PGA Tour Loss Catches Attention originally appeared on Athlon Sports. It was a long day in Columbus as players battled through exhausting conditions to claim the final entries into the 2025 U.S. Open. Advertisement Max Homa, one of the top contenders on the course, found himself in a five-man playoff for the last spot. He had a chance to clinch it outright but narrowly missed a birdie putt on the 9th hole. That miss ultimately landed him in the playoffs, where he eventually lost out to Cameron Young and failed to qualify for the tournament. Despite the disappointment, Homa's actions after the round spoke volumes. The PGA Tour shared a heartwarming story, captioned: "All class. Despite a heartbreaking finish to his round, @MaxHoma signed autographs for fans who followed along during Golf's Longest Day." His sportsmanship didn't go unnoticed. Fans flooded social media with praise: Advertisement This post says it all: "Max is my guy is class act all the time love what he does for the game of golf." "Hard not to like guys like this," added another. Someone else wrote, "He is such a class act." "What a class act! Max Homa truly shows what sportsmanship is all about, even on Golf's Longest Day!" said this fan. More praise here: "That's dope of him!" Another one mentions his class: "All class. Thats why I love that guy. Hang in there Max - lots of fans out here rooting for you every week." Max Homa.© Aaron Doster-Imagn Images Homa, a former Pac-12 Golf Champion at the University of California-Berkeley, turned pro in 2013. He has racked up nine professional wins, six of which have come on the PGA Tour. While he has yet to secure a major championship, Homa finished third at the 2024 Masters and tied for 12th at Augusta this season. He also tied for 60th at the PGA Championship. Advertisement In majors, Homa has made the cut in six of his last seven appearances, with his lone miss coming at the 2023 U.S. Open. While this year's U.S. Open won't feature Max Homa, his grace under pressure and continued support from fans show why he remains one of the most respected figures on tour. PGA Tour Turns Heads With Cameron Young Announcement
PGA Tour Turns Heads With Cameron Young Announcement originally appeared on Athlon Sports. It was a big day on the PGA Tour, as six players punched their tickets to the upcoming U.S. Open. Five previously earned their spots through the first 36 holes, but the final place was up for grabs in a dramatic playoff. Advertisement Cameron Young, Rickie Fowler, Max Homa, Eric Cole and Chase Johnson - all competing for the final berth - finished at 5-under. On the first playoff hole, Young drained a birdie to secure the final qualifying spot. This marks the fifth straight season Young has qualified for the U.S. Open. On Monday evening, the PGA Tour posted a photo of Young holding his qualifying plaque, accompanied by the caption: "Cameron Young has punched his ticket to the U.S. Open!" That announcement sparked a flurry of fan reactions on social media, with many praising Young's clutch performance: "[expetive] of a rally: birdied 3 of the last 4 holes to get into the playoff & then won a 5 for 1 playoff. For a guy having a really poor year, it will be interesting to see if leads to a hot streak," exclaimed this fan. Advertisement "[This is really cool. We all like to [expletive] talk him for when we bet him, myself included. So let's give the man his props when he steps up and nabs a spot. Won't be betting his [expletive], but still," said someone here. Another fan was simple, but excited: "On to Oakmont!" "A great bounce-back: birdied three of the last four holes to get into a playoff, then won the five-shot playoff. For a player who hasn't been in great form this year, it will be interesting to see if he can keep the streak going," chimed in this fan. An excited observer said: "Lets go cameron!" More praise here: "Clutch under pressure! Cameron Young is headed to the U.S. Open!" Cameron Terada-Imagn Images Young, 28, was named PGA Tour Rookie of the Year for the 2021-22 season. He played college golf at Wake Forest and has since tallied four PGA Tour wins. Although he hasn't yet claimed a major, he finished second at The Open Championship in 2022. Advertisement His best U.S. Open finish took place in 2023, when he came 32nd. Last season, he tied for 67th. Still, he's made the cut in 7 of his last 8 major appearances, proving he can consistently compete at the highest level. With the 2025 U.S. Open set to begin June 12 at Oakmont, Young will look to ride this momentum into one of golf's biggest stages.
