(KRON) — Authorities in the North Bay recovered approximately $3,000 worth of stolen Nike merchandise following a pursuit of shoplifting suspects on Saturday, according to the Petaluma Police Department.
Police responded just after 4 p.m. to the Petaluma Village Premium Outlets on the report of a man fleeing from the Nike store holding armfuls of merchandise valued at more than $950. The alleged shoplifter hopped into a waiting silver Ford F-150 truck and took off, employees told the police department.

An officer spotted a silver Ford F-150 traveling southbound on Highway 101 and recognized the license plate to match a prior theft from Nike a week earlier, Petaluma PD said. As the truck continued into Novato, assisting agencies responded, including the California Highway Patrol, Novato Police Department and the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office Henry-1 helicopter.
The Ford did not stop when the officer activated their lights and sirens, police said. The pursuit lasted approximately 3 miles before the Ford pulled over near the Bel Marin Keys area of Novato.
The Nike theft suspect, identified by police as Jose Garcia Cruz, 18, of Richmond, was detained along with two juveniles who were also inside the truck. All three were transported to the Petaluma Police Department.
Officers located evidence of the Saturday theft from Nike inside the vehicle, according to police. After further investigation, authorities said more evidence of theft from Nike stores in Napa and Vacaville was uncovered. In total, around $3,000 in Nike merchandise was recovered.
Garcia Cruz was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Jail for organized retail theft with intent, shoplifting, conspiracy to commit a crime and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The two juveniles were arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Juvenile Detention Facility for organized retail theft with intent, shoplifting and conspiracy to commit a crime. The juvenile driver was also charged with vehicle evading.

Los Angeles DA delivers scathing warning to violent protesters causing havoc: 'We're coming for you'

Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman sent a strong warning Wednesday to those behind the recent riot violence: "We will track you down. We will arrest you. We will prosecute you. And we will punish you." Standing with LA Sheriff Robert Luna and LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell, Hochman announced felony charges against several rioters accused of attacking officers, looting stores and vandalizing public property. More arrests and charges are expected in the coming days. "Let me provide some bad news for you," Hochman said. "There's a tremendous amount of video out there through social media, and otherwise we will know who you are, who engaged in this conduct. … So, for people who've already engaged in this, in this illegal activity, we're coming for you." "This is no longer a protest when commercial-grade fireworks are being used as weapons, and our officers are under direct attack," he said. "That's not free speech. That's a felony. "But when you have people that are out here to commit acts of violence, against our deputy sheriffs or police officers or, just, they're destroying our city. Midland man arrested for allegedly using truck to hit wife during domestic dispute

MIDLAND, Texas (KMID/KPEJ)- A Midland man is facing a felony charge after police say he intentionally struck his wife with a vehicle during an argument Saturday morning. 61-year-old Ralph Allan Olson was arrested on June 7 and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony. His bond was set at $75,000. As of Monday, Olson remained in custody at the Midland County Detention Center. No attorney was listed for him in court records. According to an arrest affidavit, Midland Police responded to a call just after 9 a.m., near Holloway Drive, for a reported accident involving a pedestrian. Officers arrived and found the victim, identified as Olson's wife, with visible scrapes and bruises on both knees and her left arm. Olson allegedly told officers that he and his wife had been in a verbal argument earlier that morning. He said he left the home but returned a short time later and saw her walking near the curb. Olson admitted he 'sped by out of spite' following the argument and struck her with his brown Ford F-150 on the passenger side of the vehicle. The victim confirmed the couple had been arguing and said she was walking along the curb when she noticed Olson's truck approaching. She told officers she was struck by the passenger-side hood and mirror, which knocked her to the ground. Despite her injuries, she initially told police she did not want to pursue charges. However, officers reviewed security footage from a nearby residence, which reportedly showed Olson driving at a high rate of speed through the residential neighborhood and making no attempt to avoid hitting the woman until after the impact. The video also showed that the victim was walking near the curb and not obstructing the roadway. Several witnesses told police that Olson did not immediately return to the scene after the collision. Due to the totality of the evidence, including Olson's admission, video footage, and eyewitness accounts, he was placed under arrest and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. According to Midland County Detention Center's Page, Olson remains in custody as of Wednesday, June 11. If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, help is available. L.A. D.A. and Sheriff file new charges against violent protesters

Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman and Sheriff Robert Luna announced a wave of criminal charges Tuesday against men and women accused of violent acts during recent protests in downtown L.A. The charges underscore a sharp distinction officials are drawing between peaceful demonstrators and those engaging in illegal behavior under the guise of protest. 'We will fiercely protect the rights of Angelenos to peacefully assemble,' Hochman said in a news conference to announce the charges. 'But once someone crosses into violence, destruction, or assault, they are no longer a protester – they are a criminal.' Hochman indicated prosecutors expect 'dozens and dozens of additional cases' to be filed in the weeks ahead as authorities review video and social media evidence. He highlighted five cases during the announcement, with charges ranging from assault on officers to burglary, vandalism, and weapons possession: Juan Rodriguez of Gardena is charged with felony assault and resisting arrest for allegedly distributing and throwing commercial-grade fireworks at police, injuring at least one officer. He faces more than six years in prison. Luis and Georgina Ruíz-Roberyaro are accused of driving motorcycles into officers at a skirmish line, causing injuries. Each could face six years and four months in prison. Tammy Paulk and Raven Mitchell face felony burglary and grand theft charges after allegedly looting a Nike store on South Broadway. Ulysses Sanchez, a convicted felon and alleged 'third-striker,' is accused of reckless driving and weapons possession. He faces 25 years to life in prison if convicted. Christopher Gonzalez and Jocelyn Johnson are charged with felony conspiracy and vandalism after allegedly defacing an apartment complex and the Hall of Justice. Luna emphasized law enforcement's readiness and resolve. 'We have no tolerance for anarchists who come to create chaos. If you hurt our officers, destroy property, or assault others, you will be prosecuted,' he said. Luna also noted the support of the U.S. Attorney for possible federal charges. Both officials reiterated that the vast majority of L.A. residents and protesters remained peaceful. Hochman added that investigators are reviewing social media and video evidence, warning that arrests will continue. 'If you committed a crime and think you got away with it — think again,' he said. For those who wish to express their views peacefully, both leaders affirmed their full support for First Amendment rights. 'But violence will never be tolerated,' Luna said.
