
Two arrested and sawn-off shotgun seized after shots fired at Limerick home
Gardaí have arrested two men and seized a sawn-off shotgun, along with ammunition, after shots were fired at a home in Limerick.
At around 5am on Friday, June 6, Gardaí responded to reports of shots fired at a residential property and a disturbance in the Thomondgate area of Limerick.
Damage was caused to the exterior wall of the building and several shotgun casings were recovered during a search of the scene. The area was preserved for technical and forensic examination.
Subsequent searches of private dwellings and outdoor spaces in Limerick led to the recovery of a firearm (a sawn-off shotgun), ammunition and items of clothing.
Two adult males, both in their 30s, were arrested and detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act at a Garda station in Co Limerick.
Both individuals have since been charged in connection with the investigation and are due to appear before Limerick District Court this morning, Monday, June 9.
A Garda spokesperson confirmed that investigations are ongoing following the incident.

Two young men have been arrested after the discharge of a firearm in Limerick. Gardaí from the Limerick Crime Functional Area arrested the men as part of ongoing investigations into an incident where a firearm was discharged in the Hyde Avenue area, Ballinacurra Weston, Limerick city on Thursday, May 8. He has brown hair and blue eyes. When last seen, Eoghan was wearing black and grey tracksuit bottoms, a black North Face jacket, and blue and black Nike Air Max shoes. Two arrested and €28,000 of drugs seized after late night drive-by shooting
Gardaí have arrested two men and seized over €28,000 of drugs following a late night drive-by shooting in Limerick last month. On Thursday, May 8, Gardaí in Limerick were called to the Hyde Road area, in Ballinacurra Weston, Limerick after reports a firearm was discharged at around 1am that night. Footage seen by the Irish Mirror shows a balaclava clad passenger in a moving car turn to the driver, who is wearing blue gardening gloves. The motorist, who has his left hand on the wheel and his right hand holding a hand gun, then fires two shots out the window while the car is moving. In a second video, the motorist, who is now seen to be wearing a face covering with his hood up, fires one shot, then proceeds to leave off six more in quick succession, before firing one more shot and bringing his arm back into the car. Thankfully, Gardaí confirmed that no injuries were reported following the late night drive by shooting. Today, Tuesday, June 10, Gardaí from the Limerick Crime Functional Area arrested two men as part of ongoing investigations into the incident in Ballinacurra Weston.
